Or Kytt? Or Kitt

What are your thoughts?

I know its usually an abbreviation but I hate the longer names

Kit
Not Kitt
Definitely not Kytt

LindsayDentonLOD · 06/02/2020 09:10

Yes, if you’re going to use it, use the proper spelling.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/02/2020 09:11

Kit is a wonderful name, I wish it went with my surname.

Boom45 · 06/02/2020 09:11

The y looks weird, but it's a nice name. They will be called " kitty cat" at least once at school tho.

AriadnesFilament · 06/02/2020 09:12

Kytt?!
Good grief

Kit is perfectly acceptable, nice in fact, IMO. But don’t muck about with the spelling. Just don’t.

And also, surely there’s a baby names board?

Fedupofitnow123 · 06/02/2020 09:13

I actually prefer the normal spelling, baby is due in 12 weeks but had a friend message about it early this morning and it's set my hormones off and upset me a lot

Kytt??Confused

Fedupofitnow123 · 06/02/2020 09:13

I actually posted in baby names, it's the phone app, must have changed it back

Kit was in my top two names for my DS. Still regret not choosing it

flirtygirl · 06/02/2020 09:17

Great name, I've loved it since I read Enid Blytons, The boy next door.

Kit is the only decent spelling.

MovinOnUp · 06/02/2020 09:19

If we are lucky enough to have another DC, If it's a boy, We will call him Christopher with Kit as a nickname.

AudacityOfHope · 06/02/2020 09:20

Kit, not any daft spelling, is lush. I couldn't use it because I have a Catriona who we call Cat!

Defenestratethecat · 06/02/2020 09:21

Agree with Movin - Christopher, nn Kit - lovely.

inwood · 06/02/2020 09:23

Kit.

Nothing else. Kytt is absolutely awful.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 06/02/2020 09:23

For a boy (as in Christopher) or a girl (as in Katharine)?

In general I don't like abbreviated names as full names, I'd personally go with the full version of whichever and call them the shortened version every day. Then they have the option when older of choosing long or short.

JacquesHammer · 06/02/2020 09:23

I love Kit.

Kester nn Kit was on my list for a boy.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 06/02/2020 09:35

Kit is a lovely name and it has a long and sparkling history. Check out the great Elizabethan poet and playwright Kit Marlowe, who was an influence on Shakespeare. It's also the name of my closest friend, now dead.

But please don't muck about with the spelling.

WhatKatyDidNot · 06/02/2020 09:39

Kit.

mauvaisereputation · 06/02/2020 09:44

Personally I would consider giving the name Christopher and then never using it but just going with Kit. I know it seems silly but I think it sounds classier. Kit sounds v posh as a name to me. Makes me think of Kit Marlowe too. I like it.

onemouseplace · 06/02/2020 09:45

I really like it - it was a consideration for DS but while I love Kit, I'm not that keen on Christopher so we discounted it.

TeeniefaeTroon · 06/02/2020 09:46

Makes me think of Knight Riders car. Or "I'm off for an Eartha Kitt" a la The Royle Family.

Growingboys · 06/02/2020 09:48

Bit tryhard, but if you must, Kit over those other contrived spellings.

Scarlettpixie · 06/02/2020 09:48

Kit is a good name. Don’t mess with the spelling!

MouthBreathingRage · 06/02/2020 09:49

Surely Kytt is pronounced 'Kite'? That's how I read it in my mind anyway.

Otherwise, call you child whatever you want as long as it's not offensive.

lazylinguist · 06/02/2020 09:49

Lovely name, as long as you spell it 'Kit'. Kytt is awful.
