Or Kytt? Or Kitt

What are your thoughts?

I know its usually an abbreviation but I hate the longer names

I would go with Christopher but use Kit rather than just call your baby Kit.

Clangus00 · 06/02/2020 09:56

I’d pronounce Kytt as kite.

Roozy123 · 06/02/2020 09:57

I like the name kit.
It's my cats name

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/02/2020 10:01

Kit is a wonderful name, I wish it went with my surname.

Is that you, Ms Carr? Grin

SmileyClare · 06/02/2020 10:01

As a pp mentioned, it reminds me of the car in Knight rider. You'd have to be a certain age to appreciate that.
Kitt was a car that could talk, wink and fire rockets which was very impressive to a child in the 80's. Kitt also had a dry sense of humour which was unusual in a car.

Powerplant · 06/02/2020 10:02

Love Kit

SoftBlocks · 06/02/2020 10:02

It’s nice. But spell it Kit.

JKScot4 · 06/02/2020 10:03

Kit Kat? Very ok yah, off to polo 🙄

Mumdiva99 · 06/02/2020 10:03

I only know (and have only ever known) 1 Kit. It's a great name. Still unusual enough to not have loads in a class. But not an 'odd' name. Go for it. But spell it Kit.

Zilla1 · 06/02/2020 10:05

especially good if your surname is Marlowe?

Stickybeaksid · 06/02/2020 10:06

Kytt 😂😂😂😂😂

NearLifeExperience · 06/02/2020 10:20

Fantastic name. Unless you spell it “Kyoto”!

NearLifeExperience · 06/02/2020 10:20

FFS Kytt not Kyoto!

Urkiddingright · 06/02/2020 10:21

I like Kit but it is a diminutive of Christopher, I don’t think it should be a person’s full name.

JacquesHammer · 06/02/2020 10:26

Kit Kat? Very ok yah, off to polo

Gosh that's quite a chip on your shoulder!

iheartislesofwight · 06/02/2020 10:26

kids will rhyme that with something else you do realise that don't you ?

SimonJT · 06/02/2020 10:35

Kit is a fantastic name, but then I would be biased!

Kytt would be pronounced the same as kite.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/02/2020 10:35

Kit

77seven · 06/02/2020 11:06

Sorry, but isn’t this a bit of a non-name? Kit?

Kit-kat; tool kit, camping kit, kit car?

Why do people think this is “posh?” It’s one of those names like, Biff, Kip, Chip that you think must be nicknames or names for pets.

I know there’s Kat / Cat for girls but at least that’s short for Catherine.

You know it's short for Christopher, right?

It's nothing like Kip, Chip etc. It's a bona fide diminutive and the reason people think it's posh is because it tends to be posh people who shorten Christopher to Kit rather than Chris.

I know a Kit (Christopher). He's a super posh diplomat.

Osquito · 06/02/2020 11:15

Kit is a great name. Not those other spellings though...

Damntheman · 06/02/2020 11:27

Kit is a great nickname! I'd go Christopher nn Kit. Don't spell Kit any other way!

NearLifeExperience · 06/02/2020 11:28

Erm, Kit is a very long-standing diminutive of Christopher.
Surely you'll have heard of Kit Marlowe, the Elizabethan writer?

JacquesHammer · 06/02/2020 11:29

Kit is short for Christopher....famously so!

CameFromAway · 06/02/2020 11:31

I like it, but I think I’d use Christopher on the birth certificate.
