To ask how many clothing washes do you do a day?

Starting to think my family are manky 🙈
Have just put on my first wash in 6 days. As a family of 5, its built up (I've not been well enough)
But I've only got another load and some towels and sheets to do. So another 2 washes.

Speaking to a friend who does 3 a day Blush I'm wondering how she has the time?!

I should add that our washing machine is 9kg so fits more than usual and towels get reused if it's just been the kids that use them or they were only used for drying hair.

Am I really that unusual?

We do washing on Friday/Saturday. We have enough clothes to tide us over until then. Wash towels every two days though.

Coralfish · 03/02/2020 12:35

We do most of our washing at the weekend because we are busy with other things. Usually 2-4 loads, once a week. Towels get washed once a week and bedlinen every 2 weeks. So on average

adaline · 03/02/2020 12:36

Two adults, three pets. We do about six loads a week.

Towels
Bedding
DH's work stuff (needs a hot wash to get clean!)
Whites
Coloureds
Dog bedding/blankets

THAT90sBITCH · 03/02/2020 12:36

I wash every day. Atleast two loads but often more. The other day i did eight Shock

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 03/02/2020 12:37

Usually one a day. Depends if any towels or bedding needs done. Sometimes can get away with not doing one. At the weekend I try and make sure it's all done in the Friday so there is none for the Saturday but inevitably there will be some there for the Sunday. We live in a really small house though so no room for washing to be lying around.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 03/02/2020 12:37

Family of 4

youngestisapsycho · 03/02/2020 12:37

How does someone have 3 loads a day?? I do about 4/5 a week... that includes towels once a week and bedding every 2 weeks.

ByeFeliciaa · 03/02/2020 12:38

I can honestly say I do 1 wash a week, some times 2 but I've struggled to find things to fill up the machine?! What's going on 😂

I do one wash every morning 9kg machine. Children left home but used to do 2 washes per day when they lived here. If doing bedding (which is rare) I do an extra wash and dry it all in the dryer.

Urkiddingright · 03/02/2020 12:38

Two adults, four children. I use reusable nappies and wipes so probably have to wash more often than most. I tend to wash every other day otherwise it gets out of control.

Crunchymum · 03/02/2020 12:39

We have a wash on at least 5 out of 7 days. (family of 5 but one is a mucky toddler)

I do towels and bed linen at the weekend so there can easily be 2 wash loads on Sat and Sun.

I'd say I do at least 8 washes a week!!!

ByeFeliciaa · 03/02/2020 12:40

Friend literally strips her DC of clothes if there is the hint of a spec of dirt
She will not have her dirty even slightly. Hence so much washing.
Even irons too! PJs, socks the lot!!

One a day of I can manage it. We don't have a tumble drier so this time of year we can't get anything dry quicker than that. We both work full time though so one of us has to remember to put it on timer before we leave! Theres 4 of us in the house.

OhWellThatsJustGreat · 03/02/2020 12:40

I do all the washing on Monday and Tuesday, family of 3 (2 adults, 1 baby) and I do 6 loads over 2 days (1 dark, 1 colour, 2 light, towels and sheets) sometimes more, sometimes less.
When I worked full time I'd do the washing on Friday night and Saturday morningand it would be 3 clothing loads (towel and bedding was eow, whereas I alternate cot bedding and our bedding)

Sunnyjac · 03/02/2020 12:41

Is she washing one item at a time?! Family of five here, I do three clothes loads at the weekend, towels build up and I probably do a towel load every fortnight (but change more often), same with the sheets. Three loads a day is uneconomical and not environmentally friendly either

firstimemamma · 03/02/2020 12:42

Once a day, family of 3 Smile

ByeFeliciaa · 03/02/2020 12:43

Haha no not washing one item at a time as I've seen the photos of how much she has to get dried and ironed!! But she also showers daily, 2 towels.
Plus baths DC another 2 towels.
Her partner showers daily there's another 2 more.
So I do see how it adds up but frankly I'm amazed she has time to leave the house!!

Three adults (one with nurses uniform).
Roughly 4 loads per week of clothes and bedding, maybe an extra of wool wash or towels.

BillHadersNewWife · 03/02/2020 12:43

On average once a day but realistically, it's more like once most days and then 3 on a few days.

We're two adults, a teen and a pre-teen plus two dogs and a cat.

TheFuckingDogs · 03/02/2020 12:47

Family of 3 but also my job means I need to put towels on loads too so 2/3 washes per day including family and business.

PickAChew · 03/02/2020 12:47

Average about 2 a day. SN teen generates a lot of it. Have a bag of soiled clothes or bedding to deal with, most days.

ILoveTimeTravelling · 03/02/2020 12:47

surely everyone showers daily?

inwood · 03/02/2020 12:47

Two adults, two kids. Dh is a pe teacher so has pretty much new uniform every day at this time of year due to the mid. I go to the gym a lot so lots Of gym clothes.

It's less in the summer when DH is in shorts and polo shirts and kids are just in dresses.

I do on average 4 on a Friday and 4 on Saturday.

Towels and bed linen go to the launderette and they iron the linen for me.

I hate washing. I hate putting it away.

DowntonCrabby · 03/02/2020 12:47

3-4 loads a week for our family of 4. We have a 9kg drum too.

inwood · 03/02/2020 12:48

Clean towels for every shower bath is bonkers and environmentally unsound. Hotels don't even want to change towels every day now!
