To ask how many clothing washes do you do a day?

Starting to think my family are manky 🙈
Have just put on my first wash in 6 days. As a family of 5, its built up (I've not been well enough)
But I've only got another load and some towels and sheets to do. So another 2 washes.

Speaking to a friend who does 3 a day Blush I'm wondering how she has the time?!

I should add that our washing machine is 9kg so fits more than usual and towels get reused if it's just been the kids that use them or they were only used for drying hair.

Am I really that unusual?

4 loads of clothes and 2 with towels and bed sheets.

userxx · 03/02/2020 13:39

@goodwinter Do you chuck coloureds in with blacks? How do you do so little? I need to learn your trick :)

Juanbablo · 03/02/2020 13:40

At least 2. 2 adults, 3 children (1 very sporty), a dog and a cat. Bedding, towels, school uniform, work uniform, etc etc. The laundry is never ending in our house.

megletthesecond · 03/02/2020 13:41

2 (sometimes 3) a day. Me and 2 Dc's.
I find it's the gym and muddy PE kids that increases the loads.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/02/2020 13:42

Swimming stuff
Towels/bath mats x2
Bedding X 2
Children's clothes
Adult clothes
Bulky clothes

That's at least 8/9 a week. (Children and adults clothes do get mixed, that's more the volume of washes required. )

formerbabe · 03/02/2020 13:43

2/3 washes a day...to be fair my washing machine is not a huge one.

If I did no washing for six days we'd be drowning in it. Just having Christmas day off means I'm playing catch up afterwards.

Lipperfromchipper · 03/02/2020 13:44

Family of 4 and I probably do 4 washes a week on average.

CrowleysBentley · 03/02/2020 13:47

3 adults, I do a wash almost every day, plus a load of towels, a load of cat blankets and 3 lots of people bedding at the weekend. So about 10-12 loads per week. One of those loads is just DD's work uniform for the week, shirts, trousers and apron. I never do half loads, and I have a big 9kg washing machine.

Belindabelle · 03/02/2020 13:48

Just worked it out. We do 12 washes a week. 3 adults and 1 teen.

2 loads of towels\cloths etc.
3 loads of bedding. 3 King beds changed once per week.
2 loads of whites. DS2 school shirts and other whites. DS1 whites.
1 load of woollen\delicates\handwash items.
1 load of my clothes.
1 load of DS1 clothes.
I load of DS2 clothes.
I load of DH clothes.

DH works away Mon-Fri and brings his washing home and does it at the weekend. DS1 wears expensive designer labels and prefers to do his own laundry. DS2 is a sweaty\sporty\muddy teen and I prefer not to wash my clothes with his.

Frouby · 03/02/2020 13:49

Family of 4. Dcs have clean uniform every day, dh clean work trousers and hoodie every other, clean tshirt every day. I get scruffy so 1 wear a day for me. Bedding once a week, towels every couple of uses.

Until 10 days ago I was doing 2 washes a day on average. Upgraded washing machine to an 8kg from what I thought was a 7kg and it's an absolute game changer. Old one only fit probably 2/3s of the amount the new does. So now I will probably manage with 1 a day 6 days a week and probably 3 loads on a Monday for bedding and towels.

Wouldn't get away with 1 a week though not even with a huge machine. I separate colours and wash towels and bedding on hotter washes.

Boredbumhead · 03/02/2020 13:51

About 6 loads this weekend. A couple of washes throughout the week. I love putting washing on though :)

itbemay1 · 03/02/2020 13:54

Family of four, daily Confused

lengthenmylutealphase · 03/02/2020 13:55

2 adults and a 3yo here. I probably do 6 loads a week, that includes towels & sheets

Limensoda · 03/02/2020 14:04

Sometimes none in a week, sometimes 2 or 3 in a week.
Clothes really don't need washing after one wear unless you've fallen over into mud.
Towels don't need washing after one use.
Bedding CAN go more than a week.
You may WANT to wash stuff all the time...You don't NEED to.
As for 'not having time' .....You just shove stuff in a machine and drag it out again and hang it up to dry.
Life's as difficult as you choose to make it.

mrsm43s · 03/02/2020 14:05

Two adults, two adult sized teens, one of whom plays sports at least 4 x per week.

I reckon I do 7-8 loads per week. Normal/small sized washer.

Towels washed approx weekly, sheets washed weekly/fortnightly depending on whether I find the time. Sports kit washed after one use, but we have several sets. I only split into lights and darks - towels, sheets, sport kits get put into the appropriate colour general wash with everything else. Delicates live in the bottom of the laundry basket and get washed once I have a full load, which is next to never.

BohoBunney · 03/02/2020 14:06

Depends but DPs work clothes are BULKY, so a pair of trousers and a hoody can take up like a 1/2 the machine. I don't think our drum is very big though.
Probably do 2/3 clothes washes a week
Whites get done as and when they build up.
1 Towels
1 Pet bedding
1 Bedding wash every few weeks.

OohDammit · 03/02/2020 14:08

Constantly washing over here (one or two loads every day). Family of 4 - one toddler, 1 pre-schooler and one sporty man.

I do think it depends on the age of children too, toddler can repeat clothes, pre-schooler is a bit wild and ends up happily filthy pretty much every day. I create the least amount of washing yet spend a huge amount of my time doing it.

Babyg1995 · 03/02/2020 14:08

Every day family of 4 soon to be 5 when baby arrives if I miss one day I end up with loads to wash the next day .

meandmylot · 03/02/2020 14:10

Average 3 a day.

meredithgrey1 · 03/02/2020 14:11

2-3 loads a week generally, in a relatively small washing machine. I'm not sure I could physically find enough things to wash to do several loads a day!

Family of three, 2 adults, and an 8 month old.

Mrsmummy90 · 03/02/2020 14:11

Family of 4. Usually 2 a day xx

Mildura · 03/02/2020 14:12

I wash every day. Atleast two loads but often more. The other day i did eight

How is that possible??

Lweji · 03/02/2020 14:14

Two of us, an average of 2/7 washes per day. I.e. two washes per week, only with clothes max. And that's whites and darks. They are usually washed with towels as well, and at least another or two with bedding, etc.

Wejustdontknow · 03/02/2020 14:14

I do a load of darks every day, whites twice per week, kids bedding once per week, our bedding once per week, kids towels once per week and our towels once per week which works out at 13 washes over 7 days

Wejustdontknow · 03/02/2020 14:15

Forgot to say thats for a family of 4
