Settle an age old debate between myself and my DH:

Shitting in the en suite:

Yes or no?

I say no, as it will stink the bedroom out and he disagrees and says that it doesn't matter. If he needs to go he'll go whichever toilets closets!!

Didn't it occur to her to put curtains on her bedroom windows, as the bed was visible anyway Confused.

Spidey66 · 05/02/2020 09:46

Don't have an ensuite (live in a very old flat) but if I did, I'd have no worries about shitting in it. It's a toilet, it's what it's for. Just keep some air freshener in there if the smell bothers you.

norealshepherds · 05/02/2020 09:47

I’m baffled, surely that’s what a toilet is for?

pollyanna1962 · 05/02/2020 09:58

Of course, that's what its there for.

247SylviaPlath · 05/02/2020 18:40

Wellhellooothere -Only on Mumsnet would there be a debate about using a toilet as an actual toilet

This - just this. Confused

Sillyscrabblegames · 05/02/2020 18:41

Obviously toilets are the place to do your poos. Perhaps the question should be are ensuites gross? Discuss.

FluffyPaws · 05/02/2020 18:57

There are some good toilet drops .and sprays for these times. .but too answer your question if you need to be alone. For this ....please use the other bathroom especially since it’s bedroom time.😇 ...be polite and make your feelings known .am sure the other half will quickly get the message. 😅

pusscat1 · 05/02/2020 22:37

No definitely not! Not for a poo! Although they are definitely handy for a night time wee!

Rache49 · 06/02/2020 00:18

The whole point of an en suite is that you can keep your Poos private and your visitors can use "the posh bathroom upstairs" rather than the loo you put in under the stairs to save you having to traipse upstairs every time"

Rache49 · 06/02/2020 00:28

Smile Atomicrabit.

agonyauntie2020 · 06/02/2020 01:33

Should have opened up voting for this.
No. Just no.

drivingtofrance · 06/02/2020 09:17

I'm currently on holiday.

The bathroom door is glass. Opaque but the sides are clear.. Its not soundproof. At all.

We're taking turns at sitting on the balcony Blush

So many delicate people.

Catsinthecupboard · 07/02/2020 03:09

Married 30 years this spring. I swear it is bc we keep some things private. We go downstairs if the other is in bed. Usually to poo but as we have tile outside the en suite and our huge landseer dog sleeps against the door (bc it is cool), sometimes it is easier to go downstairs for a pee than push huge sleeping dog out of the way.

jamdonut · 07/02/2020 06:40

It never ceases to amaze me how concerned people are with human smells!
Of course you can use an en-suite to poo! It’s a toilet... that’s what they’re for!!!🙄

Meinmytree · 07/02/2020 22:11

If people don't like the thought of poo particles in the bedroom, what about houses where the only bathroom is downstairs, right by the kitchen? That's a really common set up where I live, though fortunately I have one of the rate houses with an upstairs bathroom.

StrawberryTot · 12/02/2020 21:20

It’s madness I just read through 16 pages about using a toilet for it’s sole purpose.

I don’t have a en-suite but my house is so small that the bathroom and bedroom are practically the same room and everyone shits in it.

The house rule is to ‘courtesy flush’, basically once you plop before you wipe, flush it away. Other than that VIPoo is wonderous stuff Grin
