Pooing in the en suite!!

MisfitNinja · 03/02/2020 08:08

Settle an age old debate between myself and my DH:

Shitting in the en suite:

Yes or no?

I say no, as it will stink the bedroom out and he disagrees and says that it doesn't matter. If he needs to go he'll go whichever toilets closets!!

It's a toilet that's what it's there for

BunsyGirl · 04/02/2020 19:52

The benefit of an en suite is that you can get out of bed naked during the night and go to the toilet without being worried about putting a robe on, or turning the landing light on and disturbing the kids. As far as not pooing in the en suite, that is ridiculous. Although, to be fair, I tend to be the only one using our en suite. DH uses the main bathroom, or sometimes the guest en suite - the latter annoys me much more than him using our en suite as I want to keep it clean for guests 😂

Neither of us use the en suite to poo. It's just not good manners. We can use it for a wee if we wish. I tend to use the family bathroom and he always uses the downstairs one off the utility room and this works fine for both of us.

BennytheBall · 04/02/2020 19:54

Oooh no. I have very strict rules about where the other residents of this house are permitted to shit.

GlomOfNit · 04/02/2020 20:00

Wow, how precious. If your loo is mounted on a dais in the centre of your bedroom, then no shit. If it's in a little room of its own with a door and window ... um yes. What else would you have an en suite bathroom for, if not to save you from chilly unnecessary walks downstairs or down the landing?

Windows are handy, I find.

teagivesmejoy · 04/02/2020 20:02

Currently house hunting, and an en suite was, I stress was, one of my must haves.....now I'm not so sure 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lovely13 · 04/02/2020 20:06

Oh for goodness sake, it’s a bodily function that we all do. You would be dead if you didn't. Which would be a shame and smellier. Open a window. Gone in a few minutes.

Fowles94 · 04/02/2020 20:06

Jeez, seriously? Total first world problem. Its a toilet, it's there to be shit in.

northernknickers · 04/02/2020 20:08

If there’s a loo, I poo 🤷‍♀️

ALHanes2 · 04/02/2020 20:08

I absolutely hate en-suites for this reason!! I don’t want to even THINK that someone might do a poo so close to my bedroom let alone be there when they actually do one!

RibenaMonsoon · 04/02/2020 20:09

I would usually go in the main bathroom but if that's occupied then I'd use the ensuite.
I remember having really bad hypermesis with DS and DH was using the main bathroom and I had tried to eat something. Had to run halfway across the house to gob it all back up again.

I don't know why I'm sharing this. TMI sorry.
But when you gotta go you gotta go!

Poliann · 04/02/2020 20:10

Wish I had an en-suite

Meinmytree · 04/02/2020 20:12

I had an en-suite in my old flat, and always had a poo in there, it meant I kept the main bathroom clean for when people were round. I did live alone, though.

I don't have an en-suite any more, just one bathroom so visitors will have to put up with the possibility of skid marks - it's my bathroom!

caffeinefix · 04/02/2020 20:14

Not in the night or if the other person is in bed. I've been having naps lately as pregnant (forgot how tiring the first 12 weeks are) and DH doesn't dare. If I need a poo it's my go to loo as it's quieter and it's my only time for some peace and quiet.

Lincolnfield · 04/02/2020 20:16

God help you if you stay in a hotel - unless of course you book a suite.....

NameChangeNugget · 04/02/2020 20:16

Can imagine it’s pretty grim, if he’s curled out a crowd pleaser however, ultimately it is a toilet so he’s not doing anything wrong

spicedapples · 04/02/2020 20:17

We have a loo upstairs and downstairs, only poo in down stairs loo if upstairs is occupied and you cannot wait - that's our house rule.

What's the logic behind the rule? The toilets need equal cleaning regardless

iswhois · 04/02/2020 20:18

The only toilet we have is our en suite so I wish I had the luxury. But even if I did I wouldn't care.

ladynyland · 04/02/2020 20:21

Yes for me if he is out 100% never for DH. My friend lives next door to their work And her husband has to go to the staff toilets. Never ever in the house! 😂😂

msgreen · 04/02/2020 20:34

Not cool husband!! Only ok if there’s no other loo available,
Get your sh-t together man and have some
Manners !!!!

SpokeTooSoon · 04/02/2020 20:35

God help you if you stay in a hotel - unless of course you book a suite

This has been covered. You send them to the loos at reception.

SpokeTooSoon · 04/02/2020 20:37

I don’t think anyone is arguing for men being banned by law from pooing altogether. Although it would be nice.

Taddda · 04/02/2020 20:45

I can see my bedroom TV from my ensuite loo- so depends what's on Smile

spicedapples · 04/02/2020 20:46

Is it only male poo that smells?

lily2403 · 04/02/2020 21:01

Never. En-suite and downstairs loo number 1's only. Family bathroom is number 2

This is our house rule 👆🏻
Lucky we are both on the same page
