Pooing in the en suite!!

MisfitNinja · 03/02/2020 08:08

Settle an age old debate between myself and my DH:

Shitting in the en suite:

Yes or no?

I say no, as it will stink the bedroom out and he disagrees and says that it doesn't matter. If he needs to go he'll go whichever toilets closets!!

'I don't need to pee in front of my DH either. Why would I?

I don't think anybody is purposefully peeing in front or their dh's. If bathroom is in use and I'm dying to pee I'm not going to wait as honestly dh isnt exactly going to look. Hmm

ColourMyDreams · 03/02/2020 16:58

We just close the door during and after, plus the extractor fan comes on as soon as we go in.
It's a toilet, it's what it's designed for.
How do you go on if you stay in a hotel or similar with an en suite?

Yesterdayforgotten · 03/02/2020 17:25

If I'm in a hotel and only one toilet then obviously everyone will use it. If I'm at home and theres a choice dh is planning one length toilet visit I will ask him to use a different bathroom as there is the choice so why not. If he was proactive in fully closing the door and adequately venting I wouldn't mind so much but he simply isnt.

ClientQueen · 03/02/2020 17:26

Live alone so yes! My bathroom is opposite the living room so sometimes friends use my en suite instead as it's more private, which is fine by me. Rather that than the main bathroom TBH as it's so close to the living room

Yesterdayforgotten · 03/02/2020 17:27

Isleepinahedgefund · 03/02/2020 17:27

Heaven forbid you should shit in a toilet

Wandaneedsnewwindows · 03/02/2020 17:39

I’d say no to number 2 in the downstairs toilet, which any guests use. Ensuite is surely a private space for either you or your DP to use as you like. Buy some air freshener!

Heymacarana · 03/02/2020 18:23

I haven't even got a toilet in the family bathroom, it's just too gross and unnecessary in many places.

Bad news. When men use your “family bathroom” that doesn’t have a toilet......they still take a piss

BarbaraofSeville · 03/02/2020 18:27

So what if a guest needs a number 2?

I know no good Mumsnetter would shit anywhere else except her own bathroom but as I've seen it on here that guests shouldn't use the family bathroom, only the guest toilet, they might be shitting in the downstairs toilet anyway.

JosefKeller · 03/02/2020 18:27

Confused

normal people just go to the loo...
I have heard of people (male I am guessing) peeing in the kitchen sink too, but not in my house either

Justgorgeous · 03/02/2020 19:24

We have a rule in our house. Wee downstairs and poop upstairs. Downstairs toilet is near the kitchen and i just hate any smells.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/02/2020 19:41

Is anybody else now thinking of the Dentons from the League of Gentlemen?

"This is the downstairs toilet - INTO WHICH WE DO NOT PASS SOLIDS!!!"

Justgorgeous · 03/02/2020 21:45

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll. 😂. Made me laugh. It works for us though.3 toilets upstairs so enough.

Sonichu · 03/02/2020 23:58

It might come as a shock to the good citizens of MN but not everyone has more than one bathroom/ toilet.

TheFormidableMrsC · 04/02/2020 00:17

This is mad. It's never occurred to me not to use the en-suite. Just shut the door and open the window. Or use the extractor 🤷🏻‍♀️

SomeDyke · 04/02/2020 16:58

The Germans don't get precious about it - their toilets have a little 'inspection shelf' for it all to fall on to
I can confirm this -- we found this quite amusing when we staying at a conference centre just on the german border.

I find the no loos in bathrooms idea quite odd! Eeeeh, we thought an indoors ,loo was luxury............

Apparently Charles Darwin installed a toilet AND a hip bath in his study at Downe House, but then he did have some digestive issues.

yellowallpaper · 04/02/2020 17:23

No. Its mine all mine and no one else even goes in there

Vynalbob · 04/02/2020 17:30

A toilet is a toilet!

Citric based air freshener may be required

PlinkiePlonk · 04/02/2020 17:35

I agree with PP that many on here would be posting LTB if DH banned DW from using a particular toilet, so is it a clean ban or it is like us where "my" bathroom is the ensuite, whilst his is what would be the main bathroom (as we are lucky that both DS and DD have one each as well). That way, no one really smells what anyone else is doing (which can be useful) but there isn't a clear ban in desperation.

SpangleSparkle · 04/02/2020 17:35

We only have one bathroom and it’s attached to our bedroom so it’s all done in there

Sventon · 04/02/2020 17:37

What happens if all of your bathrooms are ensuites to bedrooms? I have 4 bedrooms which all have ensuite bathrooms. Visitors to the house use the spare bedroom/study or my bedroom (through a dressing room). I don’t see the big issue...

avamiah · 04/02/2020 17:39

It’s a toilet that’s what it is for .

Justontherightsideofnormal · 04/02/2020 17:40

Anything goes in our en- suite I have even brushed my teeth whilst husband is doing a poo more frequently than I’d like to admit

JustDanceAddict · 04/02/2020 17:41

Of course!

MacBlank · 04/02/2020 17:42

When ya got to shit, ya got to shit!

See there's this thing, it's brilliant and been around for years... AIR FRESHENER!

So.long as no floaters left behind, or no skidders, then what's the fuss... Your shit stinks as bad, don't be so bloody silly.
