Pooing in the en suite!!

Settle an age old debate between myself and my DH:

Shitting in the en suite:

Yes or no?

I say no, as it will stink the bedroom out and he disagrees and says that it doesn't matter. If he needs to go he'll go whichever toilets closets!!

I have this debate constantly with my DH. If I’m not there for at least a few hours OK, but if I am there or soon to be, need to brush teeth or shower etc. He’s instructed to use other toilets in the house

Harls1969 · 04/02/2020 18:36

First world problems eh. We have one toilet in our house. In the bathroom, which is downstairs. We all have to put up with the stink 🤷

Dondons1 · 04/02/2020 18:38

All this fuss about poo smells in ensuite bathrooms...if the poos are that smelly imagine their farts in the bed itself!!!

If you have a toilet with no window, you have to have a fan. Building regs

Nannasharky · 04/02/2020 18:42

Use VIPoo... It will help ease those odours! Crown Wink

1forAll74 · 04/02/2020 18:43

I would take the toilet out of the en suite if it couldn't be used, how weird some people are.

MummyNWife · 04/02/2020 18:44

No my husband has to use one of the other two out of three toilets in our house and not the ensuite for a poo! esp if im in the bedroom!

onegiftedgal · 04/02/2020 18:53

I didn't even know that this was a thing. A toilet is a toilet and if the room is not big enough wtf would you squeeze in an en suite?

Wilberforce1 · 04/02/2020 18:56

Definitely not! My husband just goes and uses the family toilet, I don’t want the smell seeping out into the bedroom!!

Funpixie · 04/02/2020 19:00

I guess rimming is out then? Lol 😂

MrsBadcrumble123 · 04/02/2020 19:07

The ensuite is mine, the family bathroom is DH and x2 DS to make their boy smells and deposits.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 04/02/2020 19:08

I hate en suites generally.

But I find the idea of not being able to shit in a toilet bizarre

Yesterdayforgotten · 04/02/2020 19:09

How can you hate ensuites? They are so handy and somewhere the dc dont go!

mrsnoname · 04/02/2020 19:09

This is the exact reason en suite bathrooms never EVER appealed to me. We did extensive work on our house recently and kept all our bathrooms/toilets separate to living/sleeping areas.

At the same time, friends of ours not only created two en suite bathrooms, but the one attached to the master bedroom has completely see through glass walls all around it.... just what exactly is that about Shock Hmm?!?!

Yesterdayforgotten · 04/02/2020 19:11

No mrsnoname leave my ensuites alone! Oh my the glass wall really is abit much! What on earth are they up to? Shock

Singlenotsingle · 04/02/2020 19:17

Open the window.

artio0 · 04/02/2020 19:21

I wholeheartedly agree with @QueenOfOversharing. Physically impossible to actually choose...

And while I would love if my partner never shat or farted ever, I also really appreciate he doesn't give a crap (ha ha) about me doing either, so I'm gonna try to extend that courtesy to him too.

Frokni · 04/02/2020 19:22

Of course you poo in the en suite. Why have one otherwise?

silverperiwinkle · 04/02/2020 19:22

No never, make a run for it now save yourself

bmbonanza · 04/02/2020 19:32

No upstairs pooing by OH is allowed. He has to go downstairs, I actually would like him to go to the outside loo but it tends to freeze up in the winter.

glennamy · 04/02/2020 19:40

Use the extractor fan / open the window or turn it into a walk in closet if you don't want to crap in it!

crosstalk · 04/02/2020 19:43

Another one who doesn't understand en-suites in general. Just been to see a house where one has been carved out of a main bedroom and intrudes backwards into a second bedroom which makes both of them very much smaller. And a lovely big old house with ensuites in three rooms carving up all the proportions. I'd prefer a family bathroom with a second loo and washbasin somewhere. However I did put an ensuite in for an aged p for their convenience - but they were in their eighties.

ColumbaPalumbus · 04/02/2020 19:46

You need a better extractor fan and he needs a diet with less meat...

ToftyAC · 04/02/2020 19:47

A toilet is a toilet. If it can’t be used as such it is a pointless waste of money & space.

spicedapples · 04/02/2020 19:50

Poo odours don't linger for too long. My ex whose house I moved into said we could only poo in the downstairs loo, not the family bathroom. Yeah, right

ton181 · 04/02/2020 19:50

We have a loo upstairs and downstairs, only poo in down stairs loo if upstairs is occupied and you cannot wait - that's our house rule.
