this is so depressing.

Donkeytail · 31/01/2020 10:52

I think several EU countries are jealous of us.
As someone in an EU country this made me laugh out loud. Not in my EU country anyway. We are all watching the UK like ShockConfusedHmmBlush. Shocked, baffled and embarrassed for you. You know something awful is going to happen, you know you should look away to preserve their dignity but you just can't believe what you are seeing.

Maduixa · 31/01/2020 10:53

HateIsNotGood - thanks, I'd also like those things. I think we could have done them without leaving the EU (or at least, without leaving the single market), but if we get there from where we are, it will be good.

SueEllenMishke · 31/01/2020 10:59

Celebrating Brexit with French champagne. hmm

Why can't people understand that you can be anti EU but still like and value other European countries?

oh I forgot....it's because we're all stupid and racist. The most embarrassing thing about this whole thing has been the vitriol and general attitude of remainers.

Sweetdreamer93 · 31/01/2020 10:59

I cannot believe some of the spite in these comments.

Maduixa · 31/01/2020 11:01

BritneyPeedOnALadybug

You post a quote from me - in quotation marks - which I did not ever say or write, here or anywhere else. I think people here can and will judge for themselves, but I am done with you.

Mummyoflittledragon · 31/01/2020 11:02

Ha ha ha you want Farage for PM, the guy, who reportedly is missing being the Machiavellian villain according to an article I read earlier today. Give it a while and maybe he will be campaigning for Bre-entry.

Well done for contributing to making rich people even richer.

As for me, I’m alright. I get a blue passport in a few years but I get to keep my French red one - as does my dh and dd. I feel bad for others though. And lol at drinking champagne. If I had my way only brexiteers would suffer the consequences of Brexit.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 11:03

@Maduixa I can't see that she's made up any quotes. What are you referring to?

WitchQueenofDarkness · 31/01/2020 11:06

I cannot believe some of the spite in these comments

Pretty typical for remainers. They can't leave a happy Brexit thread alone. I'm reminded of the old proverb - "Empty vessels make most noise"

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 31/01/2020 11:08

@Maduixa Excuse me, but I was careful not to use “these” types of quotation marks (which I attribute to a direct quote) and used ‘these’ instead (which i attribute to ‘along the lines of’).

Oulu · 31/01/2020 11:08

Plus I don't have a crystal ball so we will have to wait and see.

So you're excited but you don't know what you're excited about?

Okaaaaay ...

dancinginthekitchen · 31/01/2020 11:08

We voted remain but at 11pm tonight we will raise a glass to the future. Not because we have any idea what will happen one way or the other - I don’t think anyone really knows - but because it is a point in history and we think it should be noted in some way

Wickedwoo · 31/01/2020 11:25

@dancinginthekitchen your attitude towards this situation is spot on. Yes non of us really know the outcome of Brexit will be but like you say it will be in our history. I hope as a nation we can all move forwards together

DontFeedTheAnimals · 31/01/2020 11:27

The only positive I can think of is that the Brexiters will now have to own the entire shit-show

They won't, though. It will all be the EU or remain voters fault.
Anyway, well done on winning. Although we've all lost.

SilverySurfer · 31/01/2020 11:28

Sticks and stones.

LadyMary50 · 31/01/2020 11:29

Brexit=burning down a library when you can’t read!!!

thewalrus · 31/01/2020 11:34

The people I most admire on this thread are the remainers who are keen to move on in a positive and inclusive way.

I'm trying very hard to be more like you, but I'm still angry, upset and anxious. With Brexit and the current Tory government I feel like the country is hurtling in a direction I don't want to be a part of. I hope when you're celebrating tonight you'll spare a thought for those of us for whom this feels like a very sad day indeed. And I hope if/when it all turns to shit I and other remainers will have the dignity not to rub it in your faces in the way that the OP has done.

Rowgtfc72 · 31/01/2020 11:36

We may be the first country to exit Europe, but we definitely wont be the last.
My facebook has lit up with EU symbols.
I have looked at mumsnet where as a leaver I have been called thick, ignorant, fascist and a nazi.
I have never name called remainers as we are all entitled to our own opinion without abuse.
I'm tired of people telling me I cant give a good reason for voting leave, mainly because remainers dont want to listen to my reasons or have already decided I am too ignorant to know what I voted for.
I'm happy to leave and stand by my vote.
Heres to a new start, it cant be any worse than what we have at the minute.

ThePlantsitter · 31/01/2020 11:38

it cant be any worse than what we have at the minute

Yes. Yes, it can.

ThePlantsitter · 31/01/2020 11:41

Also why the fuck should I value your opinion when the application of it steals something I highly value from me with no reason. I HAVE been listening. There's are no concrete reasons you should take my European Identity and more to the point passport away.

A passport is an actual thing with power by the way, not some nebulous imaginary macguffin like 'sovereignty'

KidLorneRoll · 31/01/2020 11:41

What, a weaker economy, the potential break up of the UK, damaging the Irish peace process and having to go cap in hand to the US who are desperate to get their hands on the NHS isn't 'worse'?

Ok then.

@Rowgtfc72 maybe you haven't name called remainers but plenty have!

bellinisurge · 31/01/2020 11:54

Having been on the receiving end recently of some Class A vitriol by multiple Leavers in a sustained attack for having the temerity to not be in accordance with them, I think there are some posts to be ashamed of all over.@Rowgtfc72
