@SilverySurfer, what exactly is it that you're so excited about? What tangible benefits are you expecting to appear tomorrow?

BercowsFlyingFlamingo · 31/01/2020 10:22

🤦‍♀️

slashlover · 31/01/2020 10:22

No, mine is champagne but I also enjoy a good English sparkling wine, which is about as far from Cava as you can get.

Celebrating Brexit with French champagne. Hmm

Maduixa · 31/01/2020 10:28

Stupid American here, sorry. What does the UK hope to gain from Brexit, and what could it realistically gain?

Sorry Oulu I stopped answering questions from Remainers a long time ago. Plus I don't have a crystal ball so we will have to wait and see.

Celebrating Brexit with French champagne.

Yes, I don't have a problem drinking French champagne. Leaving the EU doesn't mean I am no longer European as well as English.

Faffette · 31/01/2020 10:33

Genuinely though, what you are "excited" about. For instance I get excited about holidays because I will get to travel and have time off and eat nice food. Concrete stuff. What excites you about Brexit?

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 31/01/2020 10:34

@Maduixa Please don’t play the “stupid American here” comment, it’s embarrassing, particularly when you have contributed in politics threads on here before.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 31/01/2020 10:34

What excites you about Brexit?

The reintroduction of top hats and use of the word 'spiffing'.

LauraKsWhiteCoat · 31/01/2020 10:35

We will no longer be dictated to by unelected and unaccountable beaurocrats

And here you prove you swallowed the Brexit propaganda bullshit lock stock.

They ARE elected.
They ARE accountable.
We elected them!!!!!

But you just believed what Farage told you without checking?

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 31/01/2020 10:35

Please stop this. Lets quietly mend our differences and work hard to negotiate good relationships with our friends in Europe

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 31/01/2020 10:36

@farage4PM
as a leaver I find your post a big mistake

DorisDances · 31/01/2020 10:36

Totally respect opinions of others but not an event I will be celebrating

KidLorneRoll · 31/01/2020 10:36

"What does the UK hope to gain from Brexit, and what could it realistically gain?"

  1. The moon on a stick
  2. Fucking nothing, with a shitlose of things we are going to lose. Cheers all!
Cinammoncake · 31/01/2020 10:36

We will no longer be dictated to by unelected and unaccountable beaurocrats

err, Dominic Cummings?

LauraKsWhiteCoat · 31/01/2020 10:38

Stupid American here, sorry. What does the UK hope to gain from Brexit, and what could it realistically gain?

I've yet to see a single person able to articulate an answer that isn't full of propaganda lies.

There are no tangible benefits.
Brexiteers have slowly realised this, but they darent admit it.

othervoicesotherrooms · 31/01/2020 10:39

Having a small party to celebrate, home already decorated with flags and balloons,

Oh my God. Grin

Maduixa · 31/01/2020 10:42

Request considered, and denied. I'm sorry that you can't think of any positives about Brexit - that must be hard for you today.

PortiaCastis · 31/01/2020 10:42

An EU Parliament is not unelected so why do people keep chanting unelected blah blah......what do you think Farage was if not elected, we have google so information is at everyone's fingertips yet the same bullshit is spouted over and over
Anyway I shall not be celebrating something I feel is detrimental to the Country and I certainly won't be travelling from Cornwall to London to go to a brexshit party

PhilSwagielka · 31/01/2020 10:43

I should have guessed the person who posted the thread about how disgraceful it is that people aren't as smart as they used to be was a Tory. Either way, I'm hoping that I'll be dead soon. And no, it's not because of Brexit. I'm just sick of everything.

Also, why is OP comparing this to VE Day when we've not fought a war?

Also, I'm a freelance translator and I'm hoping Brexit won't mean the work dries up, because it's the only thing i can do, apart from sex work. And I know Mumsnet doesn't like sex workers very much.

Anyway, it's happened. Here we go.

KidLorneRoll · 31/01/2020 10:46

"How can we mend our differences?

There is no common ground at all."

Exactly this. What leavers can start doing, is own the fucking mess they have put us in.

HateIsNotGood · 31/01/2020 10:46

Hey Maduixa - paring down 'layers' of Govt, making our own Govt more accountable, introducing legislation in a more 'efficient' way, forming legislation that is more responsive to UK needs in a timely manner.....

Happy Brexit Day folks.

Hmm

It’s really not. Just pointing out your ‘I’m a stupid American, can someone offer an explanation for me please, as I have no idea what’s going on’ is ridiculous when you have been on other threads regarding politics and seemed quite knowledgable on the subject.
