To ask those who work FT, what time do you get home everyday?

And what time do you leave in the morning?

I leave for the day at 7:20am and arrive home at 6:30pm. Working hours are 9-5. A lot of my time is spent waiting for public transport (trains mostly).

I feel like by the time I’ve got home I have no time to do anything! I’d love to leave be home earlier each day, but I wonder whether it’s ever possible (I work in the city) and what the norm is for other FT workers on here.

I get home at 5.15, but I live in a small city and drive home. When I lived in London I would finish at 5 or so and get home around 6.45.

Villanomme · 28/01/2020 08:02

I leave at 7.20 and get home at 7.30.

Parker231 · 28/01/2020 08:02

Usually home by 6.30 unless I go to the gym on my way home.

myself2020 · 28/01/2020 08:02

I leave the house at 7:10,back most of the time at 6pm. i work one of two days per week from home - bliss!

stackhead · 28/01/2020 08:02

Leave for the day at 7ish depending which office I'm in. Get home at 6.45 if trains are on time.

I balance it with the odd leave at 4 (I don't take a full lunch break) and WFH once a week.

Newmetoday · 28/01/2020 08:02

I leave at 7.30 and get home at 5

Villanomme · 28/01/2020 08:03

Sorry should've added I commute and it's an hour each way.

foamrolling · 28/01/2020 08:03

I work very locally so I leave at 6.40am to start work at 7. Finish at 3 and I'm home by 3.10

myself2020 · 28/01/2020 08:04

I work 9-4, but don’t do a proper lunchbreak and work another 45-60 min on the train (leave house at 7:10, back around 6)

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 28/01/2020 08:05

I work 12.5 hour shifts so leave at 6:35 to start at 7 and return at 19:30, arriving home at 19:45 ish.

I'm a nurse, the days are challenging and I rarely get a break so couldn't manage a long commute as well.

KaptenKrusty · 28/01/2020 08:05

I work 2 shifts - either 8-4 or 10-6

Used to take me about 45 mins by public transport (longer to get home if I was in until 6 with traffic!)

I got a bike last year and am now getting here in 25mins ! even that amount of time has felt like ive gotten some of my evening back!

Would you be able to cycle in??

Also I meal prep now and usually know what i'm having for dinner every evening and all I have to do is heat it up when I get in so I'm not cooking/preparing a meal when I get in either !

TeddyIsaHe · 28/01/2020 08:05

Leave the house with dd at 6:55am to do the nursery drop off, at my desk by 8:20.

Get home between 6:30-7:30pm depending on if we need to stop and grab stuff for dinner etc.

Got this week off and my word it’s nice not rushing out the door!

LoudBatPerson · 28/01/2020 08:05

I leave between 7:15 and 7:30am and get home between 6:30 and 7:00pm.

I live quite close to my office so a nice quick 20 minute commute (I mostly walk unless I am going somewhere straight from the office after work) but I work a condensed week, so full time hours over four days instead of 5.

The extra day off a week is more than worth the earlier start and later finish for me.

MoonBase29 · 28/01/2020 08:05

Work 9-5. Leave in the morning around 8.15
Arrive home/collect DD from childcare around 5.30

AldiBaldi555 · 28/01/2020 08:05

I leave home 7am. Start work 8.30.
30 mins lunch.
Leave 4.45 home 6.15.

2 days per week I work from home (8.30-5.30).

I negotiated this on return from maternity leave. Standard office hours are 9-6 but a 6pm finish would mean I’m not back until 7.30 which is too late (nursery closes at 6.30). Up until I had kids I did the standard office hours though.

DrDreReturns · 28/01/2020 08:06

Similar to you. I leave at 7am and get home between 6.30 and 7pm.
I'm looking for a job with a shorter commute!

TabbyMumz · 28/01/2020 08:07

You dont need to know times really, do you. You work in the city and travel by train, you are bound to spend a lot of time travelling and getting home late. I dont work in a city, drive to work, takes me half an hour. I'm home by 5pm. It's all about personal choices.

alittlequinnie · 28/01/2020 08:07

I leave at 6.50 am Monday-Thursday - return at 6.10 pm ish. I work 8-5.15 on those days.

Fridays I leave 6.50 and get home 5.10pm - I work 8-4.15 that day.

Every second Wednesday I don't go to work at all because I have banked enough hours.

I cycle to work and back though - 4.5 miles - if I got public transport I could probably leave later in the morning but wouldn't be home until about 6.45 most evenings...plus I wouldn't be able to eat so much cake!

I sort of resign myself to not doing much in the evenings - I often get in, bath, pjs and lounging around by 6.30pm.

When I was younger I used to get in at 6 and go to bed at midnight which gave me a 6 hour evening - I used to do something every night and it did help me to feel like i had more of a life - however, too tired for that now - generally snoring my head off by 10pm (I'm 49).

Cokezeroisyummy · 28/01/2020 08:08

I leave at 7.30, its about an hour on public transport to work. Get home at 6 or 6.30 (via childminders to pick up child), takes about an hour and a half to get home, all in. I feel tired all the time!

QueenofLouisiana · 28/01/2020 08:09

I leave at 8, home about 5.40-6pm. I have a 10 minute drive.

Vilanelleisreal · 28/01/2020 08:09

You dont need to know times really, do you

Of course I don’t need to know, but I’m interested to know. Is that ok? No one is forcing you to contribute Hmm

Leave at 6:30am and back at 6:30pm (work 8:30-16:30). Luckily I can work from home 2-3 days/week, because otherwise I would probably find it unsustainable.

SinglePringle · 28/01/2020 08:11

I leave around 7am and get home around 8pm. 9 or 10pm if we’re near the deadline.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 28/01/2020 08:12

If I do a full day in the office - out 7.50am home 4.10pm

reefedsail · 28/01/2020 08:13

I leave at 7.10am to drop DS in for breakfast and am in work at 7.30. I collect DS from school, which is two minutes from home, at either 5pm or 6pm. Sometimes he boards so then I pull a long day at work.

My 'hours' are dictated by DS's school day (I'm a teacher).
