To ask those who work FT, what time do you get home everyday?

Vilanelleisreal · 28/01/2020 07:59

And what time do you leave in the morning?

I leave for the day at 7:20am and arrive home at 6:30pm. Working hours are 9-5. A lot of my time is spent waiting for public transport (trains mostly).

I feel like by the time I’ve got home I have no time to do anything! I’d love to leave be home earlier each day, but I wonder whether it’s ever possible (I work in the city) and what the norm is for other FT workers on here.

I leave the house at 7:30 to start work at 8. 2 days a week I finish at 2:45pm to do school pick up and 3 days a week I finish at 3:30 so I'm usually home around 4pm. I'm lucky I live very close to work and they are really flexible with the kids

Cliffdonville · 28/01/2020 15:10

I leave the house at 6.15am and get home at 4.15pm and work from home on a Friday. I have just under an hour commute.

Frazzledbyalot · 28/01/2020 15:10

Leave home at 6.40am. Arrive home at 7.15pm hours are 7.30-6.30 over 4 days but often do overtime another day for 5-6 hours in the evening too

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 28/01/2020 15:13

I leave around 8am and return home anytime from 7pm to daft o'clock.

Aragog · 28/01/2020 15:17

I leave the house at 7:40-7:45am and get to work for 8am. I am paid from 8:30am, but go in and have something to eat and drink beforehand, often at breakfast club with some of the children.

I am paid until 3:30pm. However, rarely leave til 4:30-5pm most days. It takes me around 15-20 minutes to get home.

DH has a similar comment - about 20 minutes if not rush hour. He leaves at the same time as me. He gets home from work around 7pm.

thecatsthecats · 28/01/2020 15:18

Hours 8.30-4.30.

Twenty minute walk to/from the office.

We used to live in the city centre, but bought in the suburbs, and it didn't even occur to me until we were halfway through the process that my husband's preferred suburb was just up the hill from my work.

LemonPrism · 28/01/2020 15:19

I leave home 6am and get home 4pm (working 7-3).Weekends (not all but some) I leave at 7am and get home at 5pm..

I looove 7-3. Feels like the whole days left when I get back and forces me into a good routine (aka no drinking).

I work in the city (but not in finance).

Lipperfromchipper · 28/01/2020 15:22

Leave work, collect dc and home by 4.00-4.15 depending on what time I leave work. I have a 15-20min drive from my school to my dc’s school.

Lipperfromchipper · 28/01/2020 15:23

Oh and I leave the house at 8.25.... dc dropped at 8.30 and I start at 9.00

LynseyLou1982 · 28/01/2020 15:24

I leave home at 7:20 and I get to work about 8:30. I drop my son at nursery first then catch the bus about 7:40. I work 8:45 - 4:1 but I do the nursery pick up every day as well. By the time we get home from nursery it's about 5:50.

Appy21 · 28/01/2020 15:25

I am lucky that I found the same job in the small town I live in. I now leave at 8:45 and get in at 5:10.

When I worked in the city id set off around 6:20am and get back about 7pm.

Circe32 · 28/01/2020 15:26

I leave the house at 7.15 and get home for 5pm on a normal day. My working hours are 8 till 4.30pm, but I'm generally in the office (eating breakfast!) by 7.40am. Purely by choice so that I can beat the worst of rush hour and get a decent parking spot.
My commute is usually 20 to 30 minutes motorway driving, 4 junctions in total.

tempnamechange98765 · 28/01/2020 15:27

I'm 32 hours over 4 days so not quite full time, I leave the house at 7:30am, usually in work by 7:55-8am. I take a 20 minutes lunch break most days and leave at 4:20pm, home just before 5pm. I would like to be in earlier to leave by 4pm as I'm in a city so the traffic picks up after 4pm, but it would mean waking DS much earlier which I'd rather not.

MaryShelley1818 · 28/01/2020 15:32

I work flexi, 35hrs over 4 days but one is spent either at University or studying at home.
Tuesday I'm home between 5.30-6ish. Wednesday about 6-6.30 and Friday 7-7.30.
DH works more regular hrs, he leaves at 6.30am-home at 6.20pm M-Thurs then works from home on a Friday so he can collect DS from nursery at lunchtime.

MaryShelley1818 · 28/01/2020 15:34

When people say they work in "THE city" do you mean London? Or just "a city"? Lol.
I can never tell! We're surrounded by several cities or fairly equal distance.

Ch33z30nt0astz · 28/01/2020 15:34

I work 12 hour shifts either days or nights, with a short commute
I work x amount of shifts on, then y amount of shifts off

So I leave approx 30 minutes before work

I arrive home at 19:30pm or 07:30am

ivykaty44 · 28/01/2020 15:37

Leave at 8am and return home by 6pm
30 minutes commute if walking 25 if I drove but then I’d have to pay to store car, easier to walk

Alfiemoon1 · 28/01/2020 15:39

I leave at 8 am for a 9 am start it should only be a 20 minute drive but traffic is awful at that time finish at 5.30 home by 6.30 I would like to shorten my days a bit say finish at 4 pm to miss the traffic just don’t seem to have any time to relax in the evening after I have walked the dog made tea Usually something quick out the freezer packed lunches etc

VivaLeBeaver · 28/01/2020 15:45

I leave the house about 7am and normally home by 4pm. Work is flexible most of the time and I can often leave early and work from home.

m0therofdragons · 28/01/2020 15:45

Leave at 8.30am and home by 6pm. I end up going to bed at midnight which is ridiculous and I'm trying to move it to 11pm lights off but it's hard to fit everything in (three dc)

MiniGuinness · 28/01/2020 15:48

Leave home at 9, home at 6.30. I have a 15 minute drive, because I just miss rush hour.

MaMaMaMySharona · 28/01/2020 15:55

When I worked in London, my hours were 9-5.30 and I was out of the house from around 7am - 7pm.

I now live in the north west, 15 minutes from my office. I work 8.30-4.30, leave the house at 8am and am home by 4.50/5pm

Whiskeywithwater · 28/01/2020 15:58

I leave around 7.30am and get home anywhere between 6.30 and 8pm, depending on how busy I am. Core hours are 8.30-5.30, but realistically it would have to be an extremely quiet day for me to actually leave at 5.30. Between 6 and 6.30 is the norm.

cliffdiver · 28/01/2020 15:59

I'm a teacher.

Leave home at around 7.40am to drop my DC to breakfast club. Arrive at work at about 8am.

I get home between 3.30 and 4.15. Never later than 5pm.

Half the week I'll do some work at home in the evening.

Ch33z30nt0astz · 28/01/2020 16:04

In my previous job, I had a minimum 1 hour commute each way. However, sometimes it would take 3 hours one way, depending on the traffic

I thought that I would miss the long commute, but I don't Grin
