As a self confessed utterly ugly bug I just can't understand it... There are truly beautiful women out there who do it to themselves time and time again and end up almost caricatures of themselves.

Just a thought after seeing the latest pics of Catherine Zeta Jones who was incredibly gorgeous. Not a caricature yet, but perhaps in danger of going there.

There was a picture on Instagram of Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston and Lisa kudrow recently. Lisa is the only one who has aged naturally but I bet she gets slagged off online for looking old

I saw that picture and I thought Lisa looked completely lovely and normal. The other two looked weird. I am such a huge Friends fan that I find it almost upsetting (tad dramatic I know) to see Courtney Cox as she is now because she looks like a different person. Jennifer Aniston looked amazing until the last couple of years when she has had a lot of procedures and now looks puffy and, if anything, a bit older than her actually age.

Guys get it too, to a lesser extent. I read somewhere that Chris Evans (Captain America) said his agents had pressured him to use Rogaine (or similar).

And most of the Marvel guys have to be using steroids to bulk up that much.

Gosh that picture of Michelle Keegan upthread Naturally she wasprobably one of the most beautiful young women on tv and not just because of her face but her smile is incredible, she can really act and I imagine she has an absolutely gorgeous personality to match. She would have stood out in any room and now she would just blend in.

It's really sad, especially as mum to a daughter.

It was Brad Pitt who stood out to me at the SAG awards, he looked so odd. It's sad that women have felt this pressure for so long and annoying that there was that double standard but it's sad that men are now starting to feel the need too

Following the sad death of Terry Jones two days ago the BBC showed the Alan Yentob 'Imagine' documentary, filmed in 2014, about the Monty Python reunion at the O2. They were all in their early 70's. Eric Idol, who is living in Hollywood these days and therefore no doubt surrounded by the culture of youth, looked very nipped and tucked, and basically just a bit odd, Michael Palin on the other hand was a very attractive 71 year old. It's not just women that succumb to the knife. George Clooney had his eyes done and made no secret of it, Tom Cruise has obviously had work and Simon Cowell looks like Frankenstein's monster these days. I always thought Lulu looked amazing for her age but even she had gone too far last time I saw her as a talking head on something or other and dear God Helen Hunt was unrecognisable in the recent World on Fire.

Pamela Anderson looks great in the recent photos of her. She looks her age with a bit of obvious work but has kept some wrinkles.

Definitely. Once they've plenty of cash to start changing and filling it is slippy slopes.

I did consider new micro-blading eyebrows though they look odd on so many people they take over the face like snakes.

I felt incredibly sad hearing the news of Tawney Kitean’s death back in May (I think) but also the fact that this once incredibly beautiful (inside and out judging by the stories of her) had felt the need to have plastic surgery, making her look completely different to how she once looked.

You've got to remember that in Hollywood it is more acceptable to look like you've had obvious work done, than just to age (for women). I also imagine it is very difficult to see your youthful looks go when they have been the main, if not only, thing that people note about you, and the reason for your success in life.

As an aside, I don't believe there are any women celebs over 40 who havent had anything one. It is completely the culture in that world.

Annnnd-- you can only tell when you can tell. Otherwise, people just look good.

I saw Suzi Perry on Richard Osman's House of Games the other week. I hadn't seen her on TV for some time and thought, ooh, bit puffy and smooth, must have had work done. She's about 50 I think.

Thing is, by the end of the week I'd got used to the change in her face and was thinking she looked fine!

She was amazingly good-looking to begin with. So many of the women mentioned on here are averagely attractive, and trying to make the most of what they've got.

Yup - when you’ve had the face of a mule all your life, you don’t approach the ravages of ageing with the same panic of a glamour puss.

We seem to have regressed to women being valued for their looks above all else, along with very warped beauty standards pushed by plastic surgeons

It's very much like that for men too though I find these days.

I remember watching the programmes on Jade Goody - the difference between the young women on Big Brother then and the women on Love Island now is just incredible. The women then looked so much younger, too. There's something about all those procedures that can make women look like they're middle-aged.

I don't know if anyone else watches Selling Sunset but I'm quite saddened to see what Mary Fitzgerald has done to her face.
They are clearly all well into the botox and fillers as it's a very glitzy look but she had a lovely ethereal look and now she looks so overfilled as to be unrecognisable.
