Minnewanke is a lake just outside Banff in Alberta Canada, always makes the tourists laugh, especially kids on the ski bus.
Tossa on Catalonia's Costa Brava is often a photo call for teens en route into town.
But my favourite, again in Catalonia, as it always make me think of Sid James in 'Carry on Abroad' is Els Angles. Literally means the English in Catalan.

francienolan · 11/01/2020 10:07

There's a map of the southeast on the wall in my office and I often look for funny names. The one that made me laugh the most was The Dicker (with Upper and Lower Dicker too) closely followed by Pett Bottom.

TeetotalKoala · 11/01/2020 10:10

Tossa!! I went there as a teenager with the Guides There was much mirth within my group. Can't believe I forgot it!

Alloftheboys · 11/01/2020 10:25

There’s a road called Titty Ho.

WhatTimeDoYouCallThis · 11/01/2020 10:30

I have a lovely photo of husband in Romania holding up a map looking confused and behind him is the village sign for Clit.

VetOnCall · 11/01/2020 10:51

Lake Minnewanka isn't far from where I live now in Alberta, but they pronounce it 'mini-wonka'.

There's a Ballybogey not far from where I grew up.

HeronLanyon · 11/01/2020 11:03

what time Grin think a few other dps and dhs might want to borrow that map ? Even when it might be right there in front of them. Hmm

lostsoulsunited · 11/01/2020 12:06

Islington has a Cumming Street, I imagine it only takes a few seconds to walk along it.

Meanwhile, The Wanking Women's Institute is used to some rather odd visitors coming to their meetings.

DoubleHelix79 · 11/01/2020 12:09

We holiday near the village of Wank in Bavaria Grin

LordBuckley · 11/01/2020 14:37

There's a Catsick Lane in Leicestershire.

LakieLady · 11/01/2020 14:39

As does Chipshop, in Devon.

Chipshop should be twinned with Fryup, in Yorkshire.

LakieLady · 11/01/2020 14:42

@SummersMahoosiveClipOnFringe: Is that the one in Upton-on-Severn, or are there several Minge Lanes?

landoflostcontent · 11/01/2020 14:47

Pleased that two people have mentioned Water ma Trout which is a favourite of mine but surprised no one has mentioned Nately Scures in Hampshire

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2020 14:49

Upperthong in W Yorks always makes me giggle silentiy.

ClinkyMonkey · 11/01/2020 14:51

There's a henge near us called the Giant's Ring. It shouldn't be funny, but ...Grin

LakieLady · 11/01/2020 14:52

Peter's Finger is a real place in the UK. I cried laughing when I saw it.

There's also a road of that name not too far from me - not a thoroughfare, but just a wide access road (arf) really.

North Worcestershire does seem to more than pull its weight in the funny place names stakes. There's a very affluent village just next to the border with West Midlands which is home to a number of highly desirable and massively expensive properties. I wonder how much more some of them on one of the main village roads might cost if it had a name that didn't appear to be grossly insulting everybody that lives on it Grin

@stripeypillowcase - have you been listening to this?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 11/01/2020 15:12

In Howden, East Yorkshire, there's a retirement complex on a road called St Peters Close Grin Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 11/01/2020 15:23

I wonder if the town of Balloch in West Dunbartonshire is twinned with another town somewhere in the world that has the same name?

It would be lovely to know that there was a pair of them Grin

Staying in Scotland, there were plenty of British people with lisps who kept apparently invoking the name of this place in the earlier years of the millennium, even though they'd never actually been there....

Not rude at all, but I love Nimlet. It’s In the South West of the UK.

It’s freaking ADORABLE.

Next animal I get shall be christened Nimlet.

FiveFarthings · 11/01/2020 15:42

We have a Rue De La Beaux De La Rue where we live, pronounced ‘roo de la boo de la roo’. Not as funny as some of the rude ones but it quietly makes me smile every time I drive through it!

BikeRunSki · 11/01/2020 15:42

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll, took me a while to get that! Smile

SimonTheFox · 11/01/2020 15:47

My American cousin found 'Staines' amusing
