@Glorifiedg I never knew that! My granny used to call the villages the 3 sisters, Mavis, Wood and Bag - do you know how Bag Enderby got its name?

NothingIsWrong · 14/01/2020 22:59

Not a village, but one of our local primary schools used to be called Queen's Dyke Primary. Is now called Queen Emma's Primary.

The local stream is called Queen Emma's Dyke...

Camp Old Indian (US) always makes me think of an effeminate elderly person from the subcontinent.

Glorifiedg · 15/01/2020 20:00

@ginxed I’m not familiar with Bag Enderby, sounds very interesting though!

Barnowl25 · 15/01/2020 20:14

There's a place in East Sussex called Fletching. My BF made a Freudian slip once and said she was going to Feltching for the evening. It was after she pissed herself laughing that I found out what it actually meant (I was young and naive), still giggle whenever I drive through it!! 😂😂

Hwange

80sMum · 16/01/2020 11:20

Buster72 hahaha! Thanks for that, I didn't know. One of my friends was born there and she's never mentioned that it's not called that any more! Grin

I once viewed a house on Crotch Crescent. Also received a postcard from Hell.

Wankie, in Zimbabwe

That entry in the index of the atlas kept us amused through many a geography lesson (late seventies). Alas, the name changed the year after I left school.

The Rio Coco in Nicaragua/Honduras is still known to the native inhabitants as the Wanks or Wanki, apparently.

Dogger Bank was the name of a road I drove down recently!
