See link. News just announced.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2020/01/08/prince-harry-meghan-step-back-senior-members-royal-family-couple/

It does sound like they might be escaping from the public scrutiny and online abuse.

Oh ffs...Harry was longing to settle diwn and now he has. He has no more been manipulated that you and i when we fall in love.
I dont even buy into this rift with William and Kate. Most of us when we marry spend more tine with our spouse than siblings.

I saw this coming when I saw Piers was criticizing on tv and in the Daily Mail. I think he can be a bit of a bully sometimes and he kept on and on about her for weeks and this is because she snubbed him in a pub. To be honest I don't like Piers and if I saw him in a pub I would ignore him as well. I have been watching him on tv this week and if I was Suzanna I would gag him because she can't get a word in once he starts on a rant about something or other. She needs to tell him to shut up and let other people have their say ... I feel sorry for the people working with him because he has a very big ego.

Wow this really is turning into a soap opera.

So much of this situation is down to H&M I’m astonished they are being blindly defended by their fans. You don’t just whip up a fancy website detailing all your policies as “non senior royals” overnight. That takes weeks/months to create and I hardly imagine Harry spent much time over the Xmas break hunched over his laptop typing up their press policy.

They left the baby in Canada, fly back to the UK make an ostentatious show of going to Canada House to thank Canada for their hospitality as if they were back to the UK for good, before pressing the nuclear button on their Instagram then being astonished that the world isn’t lapping up their new plans before MM quickly makes a swift exit back to Canada...because baby....leaving PH to deal with the nuclear fallout...classy!

Meghan clearly feels she has a voice she needs to share with the world she would never have had a lifestyle blog in the first place if she didn’t. Coming into the Royal Family she stated she wanted to continue to use her voice, she admirably got stuck into royal life and the charity work that entails but seems to have continued pushing on with sharing her/their voice with little acknowledgment that no one wants the royal family lecturing them on life (climate change, flying, number of babies to have), we also don’t want to hear that they are “surviving not thriving” when there are people visiting food banks who can’t scrape together a couple of quid to feed the electric meter. It all seems to have come as a massive surprise to them that they aren’t blindly loved and adored and that they have their critics.

The fact they want to renounce the bits of royal life they don’t like but retain the bits they do and continue ploughing ahead with their “foundation” (let’s see what happens there in due course), suggests Meghan still wants her voice to be heard but in a way the Royal Family wouldn’t let her. They could easily disappear off the radar, the last 6 weeks showed them that, but judging by their new website and “insta press release” they have absolutely no intention of relinquishing their fame and status whatsoever.

kevintheorangecarrot · 10/01/2020 06:25

Thank god for that.

OVienna · 10/01/2020 06:38

@byvirtue totally agree. Well said, especially the "surviving, not thriving" point.

If you started up a parody thread as MM stating that her and her husband were moving abroad as the in-laws were controlling them, there would be shouts of support and no one should be controlled

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/01/2020 06:49

Its funny how for a couple that hate the press they have done this in the loudest way possible.

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/01/2020 06:51

ivykaty44

I suspect that a thread like that -after much digging- would also end up with a lot of people questioning why she would marry in to such a dysfunctional family.

ivykaty44 · 10/01/2020 06:57

It’s not just the dysfunctional family but the racist, misogynistic, vile press & they are a large part of the problem

But to say a couple court the press when they want to... if your every move was being followed - it’s not a choice they make

TheGlitterFairy · 10/01/2020 07:01

Disgraceful behaviour from the pair of them. Even DH described it as distasteful.

thickwoollytights · 10/01/2020 07:05

stating that her and her husband were moving abroad as the in-laws were controlling them, there would be shouts of support and no one should be controlled

I'm sure if we added in that the ILs were giving them £millions ....there might be a few questions asked

Who do we think will wear one of the first Sussex royal hoodies? Actually I believe a lot of celebs have their own fashion lines already. Maybe they can do baby wear and kids wear and model their baby in the clothes, but then again many celebs do this too. It seems like everyone has a fashion line already, are the hoping to sell anything else - maybe they could do furniture like IKEA. IKEA needs some competition. We can all revamp our homes like dukes and duchesses only at a much cheaper price than what they are used to. I can’t wait to see what they sell. I might buy a pen if they do stationery.

Henlie · 10/01/2020 07:15

I suppose the silver lining in all this for HRH is that it takes the spotlight of Prince Andrew for a bit(!) 😐

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/01/2020 07:27

ivykaty44

But this round of press 'intrusion' has been led and invited by them.

BoneyBackJefferson · 10/01/2020 07:28

Henlie

on one of the many threads about this, that was put forward as a reason for the timing but was roundly shot down as a conspiricy theory.

Worriedsick1235 · 10/01/2020 07:35

I really liked Meghan when they first got together/engaged, I thought she would be great for the royal family.

I don’t judge her cutting family out, absolutly no one knows what goes on behind closed doors as myself I am NC with some relatives and am sure I’m bad mouthed to their friends etc, but no one knows the emotional abuse/ blackmail I endured.

What changed for me a bit was the Africa documentary, I can imagine how much she is not enjoying the royal life/ press etc but after just seeing how people in Africa have to live and end that documentary with a ‘poor me’ attitude made my opinion change.

If they want to leave royal life, then that’s fine, Harry had no choice as he was born into the family, but I don’t agree you can be half in half out. I think they should fully leave to get the privacy they crave. You can’t quit a job but keep the wages and perks, so why should they?

This

Jenzenn · 10/01/2020 07:47

sums it up

Harry and Meghan resigning?
Lordfrontpaw · 10/01/2020 07:47

I think I may quit my job by keep the salary and benefits...

WineOrGinOrBoth · 10/01/2020 07:47

The documentary was a line for me too. Not acceptable at all.

FeckOffGraham · 10/01/2020 07:58

@jenzenn

A friend of mine lost her two your old child in a tragic accident about ten years ago. Do you know how much paid time off she got? 3 days.

Jenzenn · 10/01/2020 08:05

@FeckOffGraham. I’m sorry that’s awful. People should be supported when they clearly need it. Rich, poor, whoever.
