See link. News just announced.

www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2020/01/08/prince-harry-meghan-step-back-senior-members-royal-family-couple/

It does sound like they might be escaping from the public scrutiny and online abuse.

OP posts:

There was never this trouble with Grace Kelly

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 22:12

Ffs could Tom Bradby be more up theur arses?

He’s so scared he won’t be invited to cover their events and gush, even though they believe in the free press.

Dongdingdong · 09/01/2020 22:14

Meghan has already flown back to Canada according to the Daily Mail. Looks like Harry will be dealing with the fallout on his own.

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 22:17

Everyone loved the closeness the brothers and Kate had.

From what it seems Megan puts no value on family, and the British public will feel really sad about the destruction of that relationship, probably more than they care about him being happily married.

Junie70 · 09/01/2020 22:18

DM are reporting that Meghan has returned to Canada where Archie was with his nanny.

MrsBrentford · 09/01/2020 22:22

Wow, flew from Canada two days ago and has now flown back?! Carbon footprint much?

Why couldn’t he fly back with them?!

RoseAndRose · 09/01/2020 22:22

How many days can a foreign spouse spend outside Britain without buggering up their immigration/naturalisation?

(I'm assuming time on a Royal tour representing the monarch would count as UK time, they've had 6 weeks off at Christmas and the odd other holiday, and that seems quite a lot of time away)

Janus · 09/01/2020 22:24

Could it be anything to do with the Princes falling out over the summer because of the thing we are not allowed to discuss?!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 22:24

I don’t think they care about whether Meghan becomes a British citizen tbh.

Chillyegg · 09/01/2020 22:25

I think they have a right to withdraw Megan’s taken the brunt of awful abuse. BUT they cant have all the privilege and none of the responsibility.
Security, housing , travel etc they still get to keep. not very fair when people are trapped in poverty in the uk as we speak . Tax credits and uc come for you with pitch forks if you earn £1 more than estimated.
So really it boils down to some good old Dickensian inequality. Rich man and women wish to explore own “business” -fashion lines -vegan interior decorating etc. Poor people watch us flout off disregarding the enormous privilege we receive as something others would only dream of. And complain about that privilege offered to us .
Although I do get why Meghan would wanna cut the purse strings it’s weird that Harry’s income is subsidised by his dad at 30

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/01/2020 22:28

They left Archie in Canada with the Nanny for 3 days

They had no intention of returning to the UK.
Can’t remember which thread it was on, but the theory was that the Sussex camp «leaked» the scoop to the Sun; so that they could launch their announcement.
It just gets more & more manipulative.

They have completely burnt their bridges in the UK.

However; this is the first time a Harry has had alone with his family; without Meghan for a long time.
Instead of being combative and thrashing out a deal, I think the RF should be counterintuitive and welcome back Harry into the family. He is completely in Meghan’s thrall. Would be nice to see some of the old, fun loving Harry.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 09/01/2020 22:30

Red flags all over this.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/01/2020 22:32

Completely agree @WineOrGin

Harry needs an intervention.

I miss this Harry

cheezy · 09/01/2020 22:32

I do worry (a bit) for his mental health in particular. He must be in turmoil

BackyardChickens · 09/01/2020 22:32

Shit has truly hit the fan!

I think he has regretted it a bit, they've had a row. She's announced I'm off, with or without you. Off she's gone, probably spouting some shite about how he can say ta ta to her and the baby and he's left floundering.

In the meantime, the dope-who seems to be open to manipulation-will be left with his birth family who will welcome him back and although they'll stay married for a bit, they won't be together.

She'll have got what she wanted and he'll just lurk about, chastised.

No, I wasn't there before the lemon suckers come on but sometimes it's easy to imagine, more or less what has gone on. Most of us have been with a DP for long enough to hazard a guess,

Leflic · 09/01/2020 22:38

Agree with the red flags.

Not staying for a birthday drink with her sister in law either...

Dongdingdong · 09/01/2020 22:40

Lol - I doubt it. They left Archie in Canada when they flew over here a couple of days ago, so I’m sure the plan would have always been for one or both of them to go back there soon.

crestedrobin · 09/01/2020 22:41

My friend is adamant there is no Archie Shock

MissEliza · 09/01/2020 22:42

My attention has been drawn to the part of their statement where they say they will continue to 'collaborate' with the Queen. WTAF?

bluemoon19 · 09/01/2020 22:44

She says the one in S Africa was borrowed. Crazy or what.

paulinespeaksmanylanguages · 09/01/2020 22:44

Oh yes, that must be it @Dongdingdong

No doubt he's been left wherever. She's probably forgotten exactly where! She was more concerned about her dog coming over with her when first she arrived!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 09/01/2020 22:44

Keeping Archie in Canada could be considered a way of making sure Harry gets «the deal» sorted ASAP..
Every few hours this story gets worse and worse.
I hope people are finally waking up and seeing the red flags all over this situation.
Harry has been well & truly played.
He is impulsive and bored, but I think he would much rather be in Africa; not Canada.

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 09/01/2020 22:51

Meghan was raised differently to her half siblings and they blame that on their lives being shit.
None of her black family have come out to me vilify her.
Her white family is outraged. She has no real ties to these older removed biter and jealous siblings.

As for Harry, what's so great about his family!! His dad has given awful life examples! The way he treated Diana, the tampax tapes etc. Dreadful. This man was forced to watch his dead mother paraded through London at 12.
He endured her butler stealing her private possessions..

Did he ask for this? Did he ask for this life?

I feel ashamed how Meghan has been treated by the press. I feel ashamed that the UK has extended zero sympathy to Harry. Or the press at least.

I think it's wonderful, this bright young couple saying... Goodbye to things7, lifestyles and people who make the unhappy. We all know how having a baby brings things into sharp focus.

We look at our kids and think.... Wow mum and dad did blah I'd never do that! I'd never leave my kids in cars for hours whilst I was in the pub. I'd never speak to my children the way I was spoken too.

I bet they're having a reckoning looking at archie... Thinking no way is he going to suffer this.

Harry has been treated so badly he doesn't have to apologise or excuse anything.

I'm pleased for them.
