Of course the Queen knew what was going to happen.
All the tripe that comes out of Buckingham Palace via 'sources' is just that nothing but utter tripe.
And people are gullible enough to believe it.

@mrspepperpotts there is NO WAY they knew the whole story. This will have blindsided the Queen. There is no way the queens PR people would have signed off that website. I feel so sorry for her

I work in PR and media. No way the Queen or her advisors would have approved that.

Because then there would have been people bleating on about them turning their back o their family/duty even more than there is now. They would have been in the wrong whatever they did.

All this talk about "skimming down" the royal family and people still aren't happy when Harry and Meghan make their own decision to step back.

People are pissed off because they are choosing the parts that they like and ditching the rest whilst taking money from the public purse.

Whilst becoming "financially independent".

How much more money do two multi millionaires need to be independent?

I think William caused this.
He had his nice private life, quiet and pretends he is normal, the press have not given them too much hate.
Then H&M come along, and marry , I think William must have told Harry he can't do things as he is not the heir.
William has run off to Granny and Daddy and Harry has been told he isn't allowed to upstage William, I think this has been going on for years, and Harry now he is married is pissed off and has walked away.
It has been said many times he took the blame for William, and that William sulks.

Bollocks to duty. Why are we all so hung up on royals " doing their job?" The only person who should do their duty is the monarch.

In which case they should ditch the titles and the perks that come with being members of the royal family. No paid for security or house/apartment in the UK etc.

Talk about wanting to have your cake and eat it.

I have no objections paying for their security. It’s not their fault they have to have it and it’s imposed upon them, I’m sure they’d rather not be followed around by two men in suits everytime they step outside.

PP sorry I can't tag you, but you're spot on.
William is at the heart of this but the press are prevented from explaining it due to an injunction. Harry must be very frustrated at being painted as the villain along with his wife.

BoneyBackJefferson oops sorry your wrong like so many other people spilling out this very tired line.it has been out there several times by people telling the world (that wont listen because it doesn't fit their vile script about the pair) the royal family as a 'business' make for this country so much a year. they get back from that total 15% of what they earn.
so NO ITS NOT FROM THE PUBLIC FUCKING PURSE. and if your looking at it liek that we are infact stealing 85% of their earning so how dare you.

I believe that this, combined with the soft landing Andrew received from the Queen for being a sex offender - compared starkly to what Meghan received for having the temerity to be mixed race Hmm - has been the final straw.

It was race. It was always race. When Kate married and had babies the mockery melted into admiration. Meghan and Harry probably thought the same would happen for them, but it got even worse and their infant son began to be insulted. Because he's black. Because his mother's black. Because his grandmother is black. Our Establishment (and many of Harry' "adoring" Hmm public) are racist and that's all there is to it.

Of course they're leaving. They're doing a mumsnet Low Contact from abuse and so they should. They didn't deserve the treatment they've received and I wish them well.

Hopefully Canada treat them more kindly than Harry's own country ever did.

Mehgan's family, including herself, especially her half-sister, is self-serving. She wants to make money out of endorsing brands openly whilst being a loyal will lead to frowns. Just look at David Beckham who now makes money out of endorsements which turn out to be extremely lucrative. If they want to quit, fine. But please pay for their own security. The queen has the taxpayers pay for her security and by extension, her family which is growing bigger and bigger. Security for Middletons which Catherine visits and for Camilla Parker Bowles'' bolthole as she lives separately from her "she-makes-me-happy" amour! All the time, the country is struggling to provide for more important stuff. People have to remember, the queen rakes in people's assets when they die without a will and no heir, queen mum inheritance was exempted by John Major. At the same time, young girl without a limb was told she wouldn't be entitled to her car. This family need to go out and wait for bus to get real. When Lady Louise gets married, the country pays again as Wessex is chummy with the queen. You've to think why we need these non-functioning important people who have a strong hold on the media to perpetuate their lifestyle. France has no royalty and they rake in billions in tourism. We should strive for a level playing field and not kowtow to people who call themselves royal and want to have the cake and eat it. Their survival depends on the public's goodwill. With all the adultery, greed, and other illegal behaviour going on with the family, that goodwill is being eroded. PR staff are working on papers comments starting the up arrow not from zero. Manufacturing of opinion is a dangerous things as we are constantly being dumped down so that they could live a life of luxury ..

The crown estates do, and the crown estate wouldn't belong to the Windsors if they abdicated.
