I’d never heard of the royal rota, thought that was interesting. What I find disconcerting is that they seem to be planning on keeping the 95% funding from the Duchy of Cornwall but sacrifice 5% sovereign grant. But the Duchy of Cornwall will be handed to his brother in the not so distant future, and his brother won’t necessarily have desire to allocate a significant portion to Harry in the same way his father did.

The statement is worded very carefully with repeated references to continuing to support the monarchy precisely because they need to remain royal for their plan to work.

If they lose their HRH (which I think is likely) they WILL have to tout themselves about in a less seemly manner overseas, a la Fergie - as a previous poster said. Without the titles, there will only be an initial flurry of interest for a couple of years.

Only skimmed the posts but they need to go all in on this to make their decision acceptable to the public, so no "working towards" but paying their way.
Harry has enough money to support his family and they could run their foundation as their new jobs.

I think they’ll lose the HRH but keep Sussex. Even Edward VIII remained a Duke.

Their newly created webpage has shocked me. It really shows a lot of effort has gone into this.

I actually think if this goes ahead and the Queen allows this (to a certain extent I’m not sure she has a choice, she can hardly force them), that she should strip them of the HRH and title Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
I also now I’m thinking about it feel they may go down a storm in the US and become celebrities and wealthy by cashing in on their royalty and the Americans will accept it. But I think Commonwealth countries might be a little less accommodating to the new role they want.

I agree completely.

The obvious desperation of some people to shut down any criticism of Meghan’s character or behaviour by throwing around allegations of racism is ridiculous and pathetic. Her ethnicity does not make her a villain, nor does it make her a protected species.

William and Kate do so little compared to Charles and Anne.

William behaves like he is so hard done by as he makes his way through everyone's house, helping himself to their dinner and candlesticks (taxpayers money) poor me he says with Millions in the bank and lots of help in the home.

Harry behaves as if he is a top philosopher leading us stupid people, he genuinely believes he invented his 'woke' ideas. Poor Harry, he has bottom 50% of the population IQ, low street smarts and has said he carries mental health issues from bereavement. Harry is very in love with his wife and child. They will burn through that £34 M, even with the free taxpayers funded police protection, clothes, private jets and holiday homes.

I think the whole planning it and trademarking stuff (and cheapening the monarchy) with no discussion with the Queen and then announcing it getting to force her hand it a huge mistake.

I think the backlash from the Queen will be huge.

He was given the Duke title, he didn’t have it when he was king, but Wallis wasn’t HRH and HRH was removed from Diana after divorce.

I think Meghan is very very resourceful. I think they will be stripped or their titles and it will be hard though. I think she could do a GOOP type website again. Like the Tig but royal. I actually liked her blog. I think she will be able to somewhat save herself from this, but I think Harry will be more lost and isolated than ever.

Exactly. I think by doing this eventually even Hollywood won't care. If they are stripped of their titles people will lose interest. And while that is fine, it's a problem if you are still wanting money and recognition..

Until today I have given them some slack and actually felt sorry for Meghan and all the vile press but today they have gone one step too far . How rude and disrespectful toward the Queen,Prince Charles and William...shocking,petulant behaviour !! Am guessing the brothers fall out is on an epic scale and ...it’s the only explanation.
