In opposition to the brilliantly funny 'ick' thread, would love to know what single random thing made you drop your knickers and think phwoooaarrrrrr?

Mine with now DH was the first time we met. A group of people were playing rounders in the park and the tennis ball came flying towards us and DH just effortlessly caught it, one handed, and without missing a beat carried on chatting to me. I very nearly jumped him there and then.

We both run (well really I jog and he races). A couple of dates in we realised we were signed up for the same event and decided to meet up afterwards and go for lunch.

He was doing the longer route and at about a mile from the end he glided by me waving
and shouting hello. I (very stupidly now I know how competitive he is) had expected him to jog alongside me and chat for a bit. We were running along the coast on a sunny day. I watched him run all along the coastline effortlessly overtaking everybody and admired his muscly brown thighs in his shorts...

We went back to his for 'a shower and change' before lunch. It was a very late lunch...

Her piercing green-blue eyes, it's almost comical how bright they are. Her ability to needle and take the piss in the most quiet, charming manner is what did it for me, along with her disarming, uncanny resemblance to lifelong crush Natasha McElhone.. Grin

CakeandCustard28 · 06/01/2020 11:19

I have no idea. I was drunk, he was drunk woke up the next day in bed together and somehow that was it we were together and have been for over a decade. 🙈 He did start working out last year though and has amazing dreamy forearms that are great when he’s giving me a cuddle. Grin

QuentinWinters · 06/01/2020 11:39

peace that is exactly what I'm like with DP. Never experienced it before. I also never believed in "the one" but the smell thing has kinda changed my mind. Smells like home is exactly right.

DdraigGoch · 06/01/2020 12:24

What is it with all these forearms?
@FagAsh it proves that they aren't seeing other women. They've clearly had to make their own entertainment.

Crystal87 · 06/01/2020 13:08

We had sex on the first night and I obviously liked him but one night he came round wearing his work uniform, which at the time was just a black shirt and black trousers as he was working in a cafe at the time. And he went in to kiss me and I said " how come you're so tall?" and he just said " genetics". But it was the way he said it and the expression on his face just made me want it so bad.

SuzieSunshine · 06/01/2020 13:15

I wish I could get the phwoar factor. I haven't kissed my OH, bar a peck on the lips in the morning, for years. I am really missing that stomach flipping feeling. I think this year might call for a change. The people who have commented that they still feel the phwoar factor after so many years with their partner are making me very envious!! Hang onto it and don't let it go.

Thankssomuch · 06/01/2020 14:46

suziesunshine the stomach flipping feeling happens much more rarely now, for me, after all these years but I still do get the odd phwoar moment for DH - and we certainly aren’t tearing each others’ clothes off every five minutes as we were in the early days!! It’s more a case of remembering what attracted me in the first place and seeing flashes of it from time to time.

peaceanddove · 06/01/2020 16:36

Quentin winters, it must be something to do with pheromones? His smell literally makes me feel slightly drugged and hazy eyed, it has such a potent effect on me. There's literally nothing about him physically that has ever given me the ick. Physically I just think he's absolutely delicious and still catch myself just staring him like a lovelorn teenager. He's a bit scruffy, so untidy, sometimes arrogant, always stubborn and very intolerant, but physically he's perfect to me.

We've been together for thirty years but still have sex most days. I think we're addicted to each other Blush

With DH...

Huge blue eyes with killer lashes
Peachy bum
Correct quantity and distribution of body hair
Slightly quirky accent
Amazing kisses

But most of all, the fact that from day 1 there has been no "side" to him. I personally hate "game playing" in relationships with a passion. I could be myself with him from the start, as we just "clicked".

carlywurly · 06/01/2020 18:46

@FrauleinF other than the accent, that's my dp!

He also smells totally delicious, so much so that people often comment in public. It's like a woody citrusy kind of smell. His colleagues like to sniff him and so do I. Grin

Soundbyte · 06/01/2020 18:54

His lips. I’d never given a second thought to anyone’s lips before in my whole life but once I saw them I couldn’t focus on anything else, I walked around practically in a trance for days just imagining kissing them! My mouth actually watered. They’re still one of my favourite things about him although the reasons I love him are many and varied now, but that’s what grabbed my attention initially 😂

JorisBonson · 06/01/2020 19:15

His smile when I first saw him. I kept doing a ridiculous smile back and I just couldn't stop.

Now, still his smile, his forearms, his eyes and his incredible head of Disney prince hair

Lunafortheloveogod · 06/01/2020 19:32

His work trousers.. I have subsequently made him go up a size too.. my friend noticed it too, poor bugger was sat on the conference room floor so was face to crotch. Grin

His forearms are also on the list.. don’t even understand it myself, upper arms are boring but big forearms have powers

ALongHardWinter · 06/01/2020 19:44

A few years ago I was dating a guy who's native language was Spanish. He had lived in the UK for 25 years and spoke excellent English. While I was out with him one day,his sister phoned him. She didn't speak very good English,so they had a conversation in Spanish. It was the first time I'd heard him speak it,and I was practically swooning Grin

VerbenaGirl · 06/01/2020 19:47

Broad shoulders, still love them 20 years on.

SaintEyning · 06/01/2020 19:54

His bright blue eyes, gorgeous friendly smile, nicely cared for but not “coiffed” beard and basically the sheer size of the man - he’s not super tall, 6” exactly, but he is strong and muscular (from his job, not from lifting weights). He had on a crombie coat and smelled wonderful - no aftershave, just soap and Head & Shoulders (!)

TidyDancer · 06/01/2020 20:00

It was his stature I think. Just how he held himself. Instant attraction. Then the first time he kissed me I just wanted to feel that constantly.

Years and kids later, still feel like that.

SillyUnMurphy · 06/01/2020 20:25

We were walking to the tube after our first date and he took my hand and sort of rubbed my knuckles with his thumb. I looked at him and just thought how sexy he was. I realise this sounds like a cheesy AF romance novel.

Rowgtfc72 · 06/01/2020 20:26

Dh bent over the pool table in the works canteen. Oh that arse!

EmeraldShamrock · 06/01/2020 20:35

What a nice thread.
I knew DP socially he was a friend of a friend, He loved himself tall dark bit of an idiot.
I'd no interest in him, we ended going on a social weekend I couldn't believe how different and caring he was without an audience.
It took me a few months to fall I thought his caring could still be part of his game. 14 years later and he is still a big softy without the vain attitude.

LadyofMisrule · 06/01/2020 20:37

Kindness and intellect.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 06/01/2020 20:39

Welsh accent, dark eyelashes, a freckle on his upper lip. 14 years later he is still a very handsome chap.

managedmis · 06/01/2020 20:42

Arms and hands obviously
Twinkly eyes
A man in power - I always fancy the boss
Imperfect teeth
A few lines on the face, specially around the eyes 💖

ThebishopofBanterbury · 06/01/2020 20:45

His cheeky smile and jokes that had me in stitches!
