In opposition to the brilliantly funny 'ick' thread, would love to know what single random thing made you drop your knickers and think phwoooaarrrrrr?

Mine with now DH was the first time we met. A group of people were playing rounders in the park and the tennis ball came flying towards us and DH just effortlessly caught it, one handed, and without missing a beat carried on chatting to me. I very nearly jumped him there and then.

Before my first date with DP I was reeaally hoping I wouldn’t fancy him - I’d only recently come out of a long relationship and really didn’t want to get into anything. We met online and had been chatting and texting for a couple of weeks before our date. It’d all felt frighteningly good - sparky and exciting.

I wasn’t short of pictures and videos of him to look at online, and I kept watching them before our date. There was one in particular in which he wasn’t looking his best.. A bit knackered, awful unflattering t-shirt, bad camera angle, etc etc. I watched it over and over to convince myself it’d all be ok and we’d have fun but I didn’t have to worry about falling for him. Just a nice drink & chat, maybe a brief snog, then I’d stroll happily off into the sunset with my singledom intact.

Anyway, I walked into the pub on the afternoon of our date and booooom. ‘Shit...’ I thought. Myyyyyy god, I just crumbled. He was unbearably sexy. Tall, lovely broad body, scruffy grey hair, and wearing a huge black heavy-knit jumper with the Anarchy symbol on the front. It ruined me.

Anyway, that was a few years ago now, and we’re still very happy. He lost the jumper ages ago though, sadly..

He was the single brother of one of my good friends.
I had a flood, he came around to fix things. My car broke down, he drove 100 miles to help. I had a cold, he came around with cake and made me a hot toddy. I had unexpected guests, he went shopping and brought a load of food.
I was drunk- he tucked me in bed fully clothed, left me water and let himself out quietly.
He was a friend- I didn't really notice until one day.....
23 years and two kids later, still in love.

SerenDippitty · 05/01/2020 21:55

His sense of humour and the way his eyes crinkled when he laughed. That still gets me.

TheSandman · 05/01/2020 21:59

If boys are allowed to play too?

She was wearing Osh-Kosh dungerees. A flash of naked side hip between t-shirt knickers visible for a moment as she bent over. Bib and braces dungerees have never been the same for me since.

That and she'd cooked the biggest fucking chocolate cake I'd ever seen and invited me back from the pub to share it.

RickOShay · 05/01/2020 22:01

He’s really really good at snogging Grin

Alyic · 05/01/2020 22:09

Forearms for me as well, I'd never noticed any other boyfriends arms. He'd got the most amazing chest, a bit like Shaun Connery in James Bond.

MischiefManagedAlways · 05/01/2020 22:12

His eyes and his smile, his fucking smile. Blush
Also, his forearms and the fact he carried me all the way up the stairs of a very steep staircase recently. Wink

PerfectPretender · 05/01/2020 22:16

The first single thing was his accent. He's from my home country, a particular regional accent that I love. I could listen to him talk all day.

GidgetGirl · 05/01/2020 22:22

Also, when he’s performing certain stuff on stage and the crowd are loving it, and I’m somewhere in the wings just thinking ‘mmmmmm, I’m gonna hit that later....’

Animum2 · 05/01/2020 22:25

Dh - His kindness, personality and gorgeous eyes

cunningartificer · 05/01/2020 22:26

Ah.... green eyes, clever talk, intense conversation, funny and witty. Makes me laugh, and talks sexy as well as is sexy

DramaAlpaca · 05/01/2020 22:27

His accent for me, too. He has a lovely, soft Irish accent that I found utterly irresistable. After that, it was his intellect and the way he can work out how to do or fix almost anything.

katmarie · 05/01/2020 22:37

His eyes, so soft and kind. His smile, and the way he made me laugh. (He still does, every day) Also his intelligence and thoughtfulness, and just his general presence, it's really hard to describe. On our second date he cooked me brunch and it was epically good. And then I knew I was in trouble. But it was one day when he came over to meet my family and sat on the floor playing ludo with my then 5 year old niece, and she went from super shy to his best mate in about 2 minutes. He was just brilliant with her. I knew then I was going to have his kids.

lovelytobehere · 05/01/2020 22:42

Although we aren't together now but he smiles with his eyes. It's the nicest thing and memory I have of him. Like proper happy smiley eyes. Forgot that about him until now

Sydneyy · 05/01/2020 22:44

I wasn't 100% about him after our first date but he showed up to our second date with a black eye and a cut on his nose from a hockey fight. So hot!!

Gardai · 05/01/2020 22:48

Hairy manly forearms with which he wrapped a soft wool blanket around my shoulders - on his balcony at the precise moment the summer evening became cooler. He also refilled my glass and gave me chocolate.

RUSU92 · 05/01/2020 22:55

All of it.

Twinkly blue eyes, chest hair poking out of his shirt, the way he looked at me, his hands, then the first kiss. I confess I was so overcome with lust I accidentally told him I loved him the first night we met Blush . He properly made me weak at the knees and still does.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 05/01/2020 22:58

Gorgeous forearms. A way of looking at me that gives me proper fizzy knickers ... Soft about animals, tall and broad and lovely long legs. The faint hint of a particular accent I love, even hotter when he's whispering filth in my ear .... lovely hugs all night long ... I could go on and on ....Blush

Shannith · 05/01/2020 23:03

Ah yes. The look.

Only one proper breathing stopped, the word slowed down across a dance floor.

Admittedly I'd just taken an e, but this was something else.

He was a utter arsehole and we ruined each other's lives for nearly two years.

Saw him randomly in a bar 5 years later and boom... forgot all the shit and went all funny.

Saw him again 5 years later. Still same effect for both of us. Too dangerous ever to be safely in the same room.

I've fancied other people but nothing like that. Very strange sensation.

Redland12 · 05/01/2020 23:05

Separated now after 42 years, but I’ll never forget that first kiss, my stomach literally did a somersault! And it continued throughout our marriage..never been kissed like it since.

Amatteroftime · 05/01/2020 23:06

He was in a band.

Which would now give me the ick!

80sMum · 05/01/2020 23:12

Oh god, I'm so boring! I can't think of anything! I don't think I have ever experienced a "phwoar moment".

PaperbackBlighter · 05/01/2020 23:13

Generally, I loved beards on men. Ideally thick, dark beards.

With (beardy) DH, he does this thing when he’s concentrating where he holds a pen between his lips and you can occasionally see his tongue kind of darting between the pen and side of his mouth.
It actually makes me wet just watching it.

Bunnylady54 · 05/01/2020 23:15

I have to admit, I really thought I was going to end up an old maid. In the months before I met DH I went on loads of truly awful dates. So when I walked into the pub for our first date & he turned round on his barstool to smile at me, I thought “ Thank God you're normal”! Then we talked for 3 hours. In addition to just thinking he was a nice guy, I loved his muscly thighs ( ex rower) & his bum. Also his sense of humour. We went through some bloody awful times later on but even in the darkest days he could still make me laugh. It’s very endearing that he’s often surprised how funny I find him. I also recall soon after we met & a car drove by. I clocked the guy behind the wheel & thought “ phwoar he’s a bit of all right”, then realised it was him!

happycamper11 · 05/01/2020 23:20

Omg the forearms- feel so predictable and common now HmmGrin
