Indulge me... DH and I have enjoyed ourselves today thinking of random words that could be names Grin A bit like when Uncle Fester said Dementia was a beautiful name. DH thinks Nausea could be lovely.

Amaretto, very girly

Melanoma, more serious studious option

Millipede, always busy

Estradiol, European grandparents 😁

beautifulstranger101 · 04/01/2020 13:54

Spirulina is a nice name!

Frenchw1fe · 04/01/2020 13:56

I worked with a Shaista.

Branleuse · 04/01/2020 13:56

I saw a boat named Candida once.

TouYube · 04/01/2020 13:58

Rash. He’s very sporty and likes surfing.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/01/2020 13:58

Sertraline for a girl.

Sofa as a masculine form of Sophie.

ScrambledSmegs · 04/01/2020 13:58

Nausea has a twin sister called Diarrhoea.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/01/2020 13:59

Carbuncle sounds like a jolly older relative who brings cake.

Jux · 04/01/2020 13:59

I sometimes suggest Oubliette on baby name threads here.

Back in the 80s, I decided that Scrofula and Embolism would be nice for twins.

Pinkarsedfly · 04/01/2020 13:59

Doesn’t Sarah Palin name her kids like this? Hasn’t she got a Bristol and a Track?

Toddlerteaplease · 04/01/2020 14:04

@Jux how about Scrofula and Scurvey for twins.

BrendasUmbrella · 04/01/2020 14:04

We liked Senna for a girl (ex was a F1 fan) until someone pointed out it would remind people of a laxative.

MirandaWest · 04/01/2020 14:05

There was a girl called Candida in my year at school. She was known as Candy

macaroniandpizza · 04/01/2020 14:07

Some top quality name choices here 😂😂

Elderflower14 · 04/01/2020 14:09

I know a Candida...
I was at boarding school in the mid 1980s with a Fanny!! 🤣

Chocolateandamaretto · 04/01/2020 14:09

I knew someone called Anna who swore it was short for andromeda - never did quite believe her!

NeedToKnow101 · 04/01/2020 14:09

@Theonewiththecandles - I've always said the same about chlamydia.

TheCheeseAlarm · 04/01/2020 14:10

My dad apparently suggested Cholera as a name for me when I was born.

RustyBear · 04/01/2020 14:11

DD was at university with a girl called Velocity. It's actually a very similar sound to Felicity, which is a perfectly normal name - strange how some words start to get used as names and others don't.

Zoidbergonthehalfshell · 04/01/2020 14:12

Spirogyra is pretty. As long as you don't mind being named after a filamentous algae.

Elderflower14 · 04/01/2020 14:12

Sarah Palin's children

SummerWhisper · 04/01/2020 14:14

Bonjella is fun and girly.

Foetus is a cool name.

Dettol is cute and unisex.

Casket is gorgeous and unisex.

Cloud is another fave...

nocoolnamesleft · 04/01/2020 14:15

Melaena (sticky tarry poo you get when there's partially digested blood in it) - lovely name for a girl.

iklboo · 04/01/2020 14:16

Speculum
Stapes
Phlegm
Heliobacter
Mandible

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/01/2020 14:16

IIRC Nausica is a character in Homer’s Odyssey. She’s playing with friends when she finds poor old Odysseus, starkers after being washed up on the shore. He does hold a branch or something over his bits, though, so as not to affright the young ladies.
I think she took him home for a nice bath, with some olive oil for his salt-dried skin.
