Indulge me... DH and I have enjoyed ourselves today thinking of random words that could be names Grin A bit like when Uncle Fester said Dementia was a beautiful name. DH thinks Nausea could be lovely.

Borax would be a strong name for a boy.
Maybe Camphor as well.

On the Mel theme, Melanoma.

Al1cewith2020vision · 04/01/2020 13:29

Roald Dahl was good at names. Verruca Salt and her mother Angina.

Violet, the gum chewer had a friend called Cornelia Prinzmetal. Prinzmetal is a type of angina.

Musmerian · 04/01/2020 13:29

@Tombliwho - love Gaviscon and his brother Nurofen.

UnaCorda · 04/01/2020 13:30

There's a line near the beginning of Shirley Valentine about how "Clitoris" would be a nice name for a girl.

Areyoufree · 04/01/2020 13:32

I love the Sago and Semolina suggestion! Aphasia and Aphantasia would make lovely names.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 04/01/2020 13:34

This reminds me of a game which my father (who was a Doctor) and I used to play. It was all about finding names in medicines so you have TERRYmycin, ANNAdin, SALbutamol, NORAdrenaline, PiriTONE, MINNIEdex, etc. Sounds stupid but it was fun!

GoddessOfTransformativeWrath · 04/01/2020 13:35

The Spanish for Nausea/dizziness is a nice name. Marea.

Biscuitsneeded · 04/01/2020 13:36

It's a shame the names Jezebel and Salome have negative associations, because I quite like them!

GoddessOfTransformativeWrath · 04/01/2020 13:37

@milktraylimebarrel, oh good game! SALbutamol, sister of BECotide.

Hours of entertainment!

sodabreadjam · 04/01/2020 13:37

I take a medicine called Lixiana. Nice name for a girl?

BrokenWing · 04/01/2020 13:37

Crystal-meth, very country.

QueenOfThorns · 04/01/2020 13:38

I told my family that Salmonella and Xenophobia were on my shortlist for DD. I’m not sure they were convinced, but they would make pretty girls’ names Smile

BertrandRussell · 04/01/2020 13:40

My mother used to say the best Australian girl’s name was Margarine.....

Zebracat · 04/01/2020 13:41

I once knew a little girl called Chanel, but to make i5 their own, the family spelled it with a double n.

Justontherightsideofnormal · 04/01/2020 13:41

I work with someone who's child is called Isis! Although this person it a huge twat so I wouldn't expect anything else

GoGoPowerScooter · 04/01/2020 13:42

Carburettor is lovely Grin

NotQuiteUsual · 04/01/2020 13:43

Cactus would be a great boys name. Also Gin. Arse would be a lovely gender neutral name.

Happymum12345 · 04/01/2020 13:44

user1471504210 · 04/01/2020 13:44

MonstranceClock · 04/01/2020 13:45

Me and my friend came up with loads of these once.

Cellar
Melancholy
Chaos
Machete
Ataxia
Paradox
Opaque

Loveislandaddict · 04/01/2020 13:47

Rubella - I was going to mention Rubella, but someone else has already mentioned this.

Scarlatina - sister for Rubella?

Coyoacan · 04/01/2020 13:47

Willie is a name that has somehow gone out of fashion.

PermanentTemporary · 04/01/2020 13:48

I know it was an auto correct earlier in the thread, but Random is actually a strong sounding name.

Lixiana is a top choice.

Rayon would be gorgeous for a girl. Tbh I dont see why Silk is not a name myself.
