Indulge me... DH and I have enjoyed ourselves today thinking of random words that could be names Grin A bit like when Uncle Fester said Dementia was a beautiful name. DH thinks Nausea could be lovely.

OP posts:

Twins Sam and Ella

coiner · 04/01/2020 13:14

There are girls called Alexia out there, which I think is the medical term for losing the ability to read/write following brain damage. Sounds pretty, though.

Squidgoals · 04/01/2020 13:14

Rictus is quite butch

SerenDippitty · 04/01/2020 13:14

Girl twins Chlamydia and Candida.

Spidey66 · 04/01/2020 13:15

The organ player in Pulp was called Candida Doyle.

Isis was getting popular for a while. I doubt it is now though.

MikeUniformMike · 04/01/2020 13:15

Candida is a girl's name, and is pronounced Candid-a not Can-deed-a

Hoppinggreen · 04/01/2020 13:16

I know it’s not a random word but I think Lucifer is a beautiful name, it means bringer of light and if you believe the stories it was Satan’s name as an Angel before he “fell” so in theory should be acceptable as Michael or Gabriel
Luckily for DS DH vetoed it!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/01/2020 13:17

I wanted to call my cats, Zomorph and Fentanyl.

Butchyrestingface · 04/01/2020 13:17

I quite like Abyssinia for a girl’s name. Could be Abby for short.

There was a female character in a novel I read once called Sabbath - also liked that.

Supposedly Celtica is a name but I have yet to meet anyone called that and I used to live close to Celtic’s spiritual home.

FurrySlipperBoots · 04/01/2020 13:17

@EdithWeston I remember playing Sims as a teenager and naming twin boys Basil and Tarragon. Tarragon is a much 'cooler' name than Basil!

Toddlerteaplease · 04/01/2020 13:19

@PositiveVibez I've met a child call laiba. Guess what she got called as no one could quite get there heads round it.

Wallabyone · 04/01/2020 13:19

Nausica in Greek would actually be Nav-siga, so it's interesting that they kept the spelling in the UK!

Tatum1234 · 04/01/2020 13:19

Isis for a girl

Toddlerteaplease · 04/01/2020 13:21

Pyrexia could be a hot choice.

Omg almost died laughing at that one, brilliant!!

ThunderboltandLightning · 04/01/2020 13:21

Albicans, known as Albie to have a boy alongside Candida.

Jaxhog · 04/01/2020 13:22

Randy is a popular name in Canada. I've known several. Makes for interesting introductions e.g. 'Hi, I'm Randy!'

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 04/01/2020 13:23

Coiner, my next door neighbours daughter is called Alexia. I always worry when I'm shouting at Alexa (cos lets face it, she's a sassy little madam who ignores you as much as possible... much like Alexia!) she may think ii'm calling to her daughter sometimes Grin

NewName54321 · 04/01/2020 13:23

Tunisia - Tuna for short.

Boy triplets: Ralph, Stephen and Phlegm.

Boireannachlaidir · 04/01/2020 13:23

Envy and Thrush.

TheRealShatParp · 04/01/2020 13:25

Halitosis-Mae

SchadenfreudePersonified · 04/01/2020 13:25

Frankie Howard was in a comedy programme - Up Pompeii - as a slave (Lurcio). The daughter of the house was called Nausea IIRC.

We met a couple on holiday once, both doctors, with kids called Sam & Ella. I only wish I was joking.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 04/01/2020 13:27

Ebola would make a nice name.

So would Adipose

And Trauma.

Shockers · 04/01/2020 13:27

Looking through our medicine tin (please don’t judge!)...

Cranberry- lovely for a girl- alt spelling Cranberrie.

Viridian- floppy haired youth.

Keppra- girl

Lamictal and Lamotrigine B/G twins

In the fridge...

Aperol- girl

Kefir- boy

Opie- unisex

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/01/2020 13:28

I knew a Syrie, and also a Jordana.

I used to live in Poland and met an American woman who called her daughter Cielęcina, because she thought it sounded beautiful - it’s pronounced Chelencheena. Unfortunately it means “veal” in Polish.
