Jolyon Maugham QC stating on twitter that he has clubbed to death a fox rather than calling for help to free it from netting in his garden.

I certainly would. And the humane way to do it would have been to shoot it or to get a vet to deal with it.

It wasnt badly injured....trapped in a net and pissing off his chickens. 'Injuries' started to drip feed in after the less than happy public response to his first tweet.

All these people talking about how they would put a badly injured animal out of its misery, when the fox wasn't even injured. It was just caught up in the netting, and might already have been there for hours. He had plenty of time to find a vet or an animal rescue organisation to help him out.

I live in the country, and while I don't think I could despatch an injured/dying animal, I can understand why it needs to be done in certain situations. I'd hate to prolong an animal's suffering unnecessarily.

I'd sooner the police and everyone else for that matter spent more time and energy on people getting clubbed to death than the poor wee little foxes

He still would have copped it if the fox had been injured, because he could still phone a vet/RSPCA/any of the 6 or 7 wildlife charities but it wouldn't have been so bad.
I think hes a piece of shit who was determined at some point to lay waste to an animal. I think this was planned way in advance too hence the November tweet.
