Worst Christmas Day I have ever had

This is our first year DP and I are having our own Christmas at home, we have only been together for 5 years, have a 2yo and one on the way. We were both up til about 2am wrapping presents and preparing food etc. This morning dd woke up at 7.30, he brought her downstairs gave her breakfast and hasn’t left the sofa since. We opened our presents (he sat on the sofa the whole time while I handed them out and tidied up wrapping paper etc) then straight after he fell asleep (about 9.30am). Me and DD watched tv for a bit then she wanted to go back to bed (late night) so she went to sleep about 12 and I made a start on Christmas lunch. DP snoring on the sofa the whole time. Took me 3.5 hours to make lunch, 3 meats all the trimmings etc completely alone. Woke both of them up when it was ready, DD refused to eat, DP are 3 mouthfuls then went back to sleep on the sofa where he still is. I have spent my whole Christmas Day alone, now I’m sat in the dining room on my own drinking non alcoholic Prosecco while dd watches tv next to snoring dp. I feel like I’ve had the shittest Christmas Day, I worked hard for 0 appreciation. Anyone else feeling shit?

men can fall asleep sometimes like that, they cant take the stress like we do

Bullshit. Utter garbage.
Infantilising men like that does neither sex any favours.

Less can definitely be more at Christmas.
Fewer presents and a simpler meal.

DH should really be taking the strain though because you are pregnant.

Absolutely. 100%.

Men are not toddlers.

You sound like my DH . He makes so much effort in order to make Christmas perfect he gets stressed out. The only person who can change this is you. I'm not a big everything preprepared but I had already had made 36 pigs in blankets, plus 6 bucks in blankets, stuffing rolls were cooked and cranberry sauce made before close of play Christmas eve.All we had to on the day was get the turkey prepped, would have normally been day before but it hadn't defrosted fully. We then just did the veg. However today DH has hogged the kitchen, he's cooked a whole salmon and is now making a giant sausage roll. We have no need for either of these,he's just stressing for the sake of it.

He was a twat, sleeping a big chunk of the day away and leaving the toddler to the care of the pregnant woman whilst doing no meal prep is dickish in the extreme. You went way overboard and were daft, tone it down for next year.

I have never read such total and utter bollocks and infantilisation of a man, what a totally batshit crazy comment to make.

Why on earth did you put so much pressure on yourselves at such a difficult time when you are not feeling well?

A 2 yo wouldn't even notice what day it is and a couple of wrapped toys are all she needs. A quickie dinner without all the trimmings would have been fine. You could all have stayed in your pjs and just relaxed.
