To ask how often you do laundry (those with children particularly)

It’s never ending. At least a full load every day. Sometimes more. Also do a white wash On a Friday for school shirts, towel wash, bedding etc etc.

Family of 4, 2 children with additional needs.

OH thinks my laundry habits are obsessive but what am I meant to do? Leave the wash basket piled up? Let Dc wear dirty clothes. OH how’s through his Fair share of clothes each day too.

Doing a load a day means I keep on top of it somewhat.

DC have additional needs who are incredibly messy. DS regularly comes home from school covered in mud and his lunch all down his uniform so needs a fresh set every day.

It’s exhausting but surely not out of the ordinary when you have children?

I try to do a wash a day to keep on top of it but not always. I don't think you sound obsessive at all.

I do avoid ironing where I can. I only really iron my clothes for work.

JoinTheDots · 21/12/2019 17:29

I do 3 loads of clothes a week (over the weekend) usually 1 white, 1 dark, 1 colour. Bedding and towels are on top (this usually makes one extra load per week). There are 4 of us in the house, 2 adults and 2 children (DD additional needs, 9 and DD NT 5).

I seem to do a lot less than other people - maybe we are all a bit manky in my house!

firstimemamma · 21/12/2019 17:29

One baby, fiancé and me. One load a day.

MissBPotter · 21/12/2019 17:30

I do two to three loads a day and we are only a family of four! The odd day I will only do one but if I ever have an unusual day off washing it builds up so much.

Usually a wash a day. Two adults, one 10mo. And pets. We use reusable nappies and wipes so that adds to the load a bit.

AG29 · 21/12/2019 17:30

I am the same @melissasummerfield. It probably doesn’t help we wear PJs to bed and throw them in the wash basket in the morning. Seems silly as I wash bedding regularly and we all bathe/shower before bed. My children need a clean set of uniform every day. DS comes out so grubby. There’s no way I could send him in the same clothes. DD doesn’t get as dirty.. but I tend to put a clean set on her anyway.

Maybe im just odd but working full time with 3 kids 2 of them primary aged and still very young I don't do any till the weekend.
On Saturday I'll run the washing machine 5 or 6 times after each load goes straight into the tumble dryer then on Sunday the entire lot is folded and put away!

Nogoodusername · 21/12/2019 17:32

Two adults, two children. Do a clothes wash every day, and then another five on top of that - bedding x3, towels and a white wash for school polos. So 12 loads of laundry a week

Aquicknamechange2019 · 21/12/2019 17:32

@DDIJ 5-6 loads a DAY?

Teachermaths · 21/12/2019 17:32

What are you all washing?
I do about 5 loads per week. Family of 4.

AG29 · 21/12/2019 17:32

Thanks all. It’s nice to know It’s not us just 🤣 I would just like a break from it one day.

Last Christmas Day I had a load of washing in. Mil wasn’t impressed saying I should have left it on Christmas Day but not doing the load would mean more the next day... 😏

A load a day here too. Sometimes an extra 1 or 2 aswell depending on what’s needed.
1 adult, 1 teenager and 1 child with additional needs.

SunshineAngel · 21/12/2019 17:33

Twice a week. Big machine and condenser dryer (plus, DSS is only here during the week, so some of his washing gets done at his mum's).

HolyGuac · 21/12/2019 17:34

Daily, better than letting it pile up over the week. Bedding and towels is two days right there.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 21/12/2019 17:34

1 load a day, plus at least one extra load at the weekend for bed linen or whatever.

Putting it away on the other hand.....as little as I can bear.

YappityYapYap · 21/12/2019 17:35

About 5 loads a week for me, DH and DS 3.

4 of them are clothes then one is usually towels and bedding. I don't separate the colours or anything. Is that still a thing? None of the clothes ever seem to run or anything but I do keep new jeans out of the main wash and new red items and will do them separately.

My machine only takes 7kg so I would like to get a new one soon that will take about 9kg.

I recently went back to powder, Ariel in particular. I was using capsules and liquid for years and honestly, they don't clean and care for your clothes like powder does, not for me anyway

SimonJT · 21/12/2019 17:36

1 adult and 1 four year old.

Four a week generally
One bedding and towels
On darks
One coloureds
One whites

I do two, the cleaner does two.

LakieLady · 21/12/2019 17:37

Two adults, min 3 loads a week (one darks, one lights, one towels and bedding). Sometimes it's more if I wash throws, dog beds, bath mat, door mats, stuff like that.

Menora · 21/12/2019 17:37

Probably must be a load a day. There are 3 of us. Today though I have done 5 loads!
I wash a lot

CherryPavlova · 21/12/2019 17:37

One or two loads a day.
Bedding goes to laundry.

LeSquigh · 21/12/2019 17:37

2 adults and 2 kids under 10 with an 8kg machine. I do on average one load a day plus one white one a week. And maybe towels/bath mats every ten days. I don’t have a drier - no room, rented house - and it’s a pain in the arse having washing hanging about indoors when it’s not warm enough to hang outside. The vast majority of clothing comes from my DP and my youngest.

Tiddlertoddler · 21/12/2019 17:38

At least one load daily if not two, 2 adults and 1 baby of 3 months. I still never feel on top of it!

VerbenaGirl · 21/12/2019 17:38

Pretty much constantly. It’s a standing joke with the in-laws that I’m always doing something with washing when they come into our house.

LazyArsehole · 21/12/2019 17:39

Every fucking day.
