To ask how often you do laundry (those with children particularly)

It’s never ending. At least a full load every day. Sometimes more. Also do a white wash On a Friday for school shirts, towel wash, bedding etc etc.

Family of 4, 2 children with additional needs.

OH thinks my laundry habits are obsessive but what am I meant to do? Leave the wash basket piled up? Let Dc wear dirty clothes. OH how’s through his Fair share of clothes each day too.

Doing a load a day means I keep on top of it somewhat.

DC have additional needs who are incredibly messy. DS regularly comes home from school covered in mud and his lunch all down his uniform so needs a fresh set every day.

It’s exhausting but surely not out of the ordinary when you have children?

Two adults and one child in nursery. I do at least one load a day. Usually eight or nine loads on a week.

2 adults and 2 school age DC. At least a load at day. Sometimes it work etc is full on I don’t, but then it builds up. Sometimes, like this weekend, I have a blitz and do about 4 loads over both days and empty both washing baskets. That feels good!

At least a wash a day. Load before bed, timer to be finished first thing, move to tumble so it’s done by mid morning and then fold either during youngest nap (if not a work day) or during eldests bath/story if oh reads it at bedtime (on work days).
Have 2 laundry baskets - Lights and darks - throw in a colour catcher If I’m worried.
Wear pjs a few days - if they have had a few wears let the kids wear for breakfast so they Dd not get clothes dirty. Kids re-wear jumpers but nothing else (pre-school and messy) - I rewear jeans, cardigans pjs.
It’s never ending!

I do washing once a week. It takes 2 days to do it all but it means it’s all washed, dried and put away over 48 hourS

Can’t stand doing it daily, it feels never ending. And I never have an ‘end’ so I just have a pile or clean washing sitting there waiting to be put away and it drives me crazy. This way it’s hidden in the dirty hampers.

Pre-children we’d do 2 loads at the weekend and that was it.

Now we have 2 children - a 4 year old and a 6 month old - and I need to do a load every day. Or if I’m not able to then it builds up and I end up doing non-stop laundry all weekend.

A 10kg machine and a tumble dryer so it’s not a struggle really. Kids clothes are never clean enough to wear for more than a day. Husband does lots of sports. I probably have less laundry than anyone else in the house!!

Sounds normal to me!

Family of 3 - DS is 3yrs old. I do a 3-4 loads a week at the weekend only. Usually a dark load, light load, towels or bedding and another mixed top up load to get ready for work!

AlpacaGoodnight · 22/12/2019 20:48
