Aibu: PJs with pants underneath at night?*

I do, partner does, and so do the kids. However we didn't when we were kids, and my nieces don't when they come to stay. Was reading something on the NHS site about worms recently (prompted by the wildly inappropriate 'medicating-someone-else's-kid' post a few days ago - I mean the action was inappropriate, not the "thread") and it suggested wearing pants with PJs to combat thread-worms, implying that ppl don't normally??

Aibu in that we all do wear pants with nightwear as it's basic hygiene to me ?

*Not a pants-troll, but you'll either believe me or you won't....

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

Always pants under PJs. Otherwise i’d be washing pyjamas daily to keep them clean.

Pepperwand · 12/12/2019 16:10

Definitely pants under PJs! Otherwise you'd need to wash your PJs every day and pants are much easier to wash. To the previous poster who asked if that means you'd take 14 pairs of pants for a week's holiday....yes! Otherwise I'd have to take different pj bottoms for every night which seems much more faff.

ButterflyBook · 12/12/2019 16:11

Pants under everything. Only ever in the shower am I pantless. Clean ones for bed and again in the morning. I feel too undressed without pants. Never had thrush.

Lovemusic33 · 12/12/2019 16:12

No one wears pj’s to bed in my house, both dd’s sleep in just underwear and I sleep naked. Don’t understand how people can sleep with clothes on, I get too hot 🤣

DontMakeMeShushYou · 12/12/2019 16:12

Do you put in fresh pants after your bath/shower, put in your PJs and then just discard them the next morning?

I put fresh pants on when I get home from work, and I shower in the morning rather than starting the day straight out of bed as that just feels icky to me. Each to their own, I guess.

I am a no pants person and would not be encouraging doubling the number of pants each person in the family wears a week.

I do wonder sometimes why people on MN all seem to do more laundry than me and i think it's lots of these little habits building up.

I'm a pants on person. I can see your argument if you wear nothing in bed but if you wear pyjama bottoms without pants underneath you surely have to change them daily so I'd imagine that's where the extra washing is coming from?

MrsPeakyBlinders · 12/12/2019 16:13

Well I hope that the PJs only brigade wash their PJs after every wear ?

Lonesome54321 · 12/12/2019 16:13

No pants with pjs here and I wear clean pjs each night

Serin · 12/12/2019 16:15

Pants and PJs.

PickAChew · 12/12/2019 16:15

Never let my bits "breathe"

Only time I've had thrush was when I tried some particularly plastic key sanitary towels.

DarlingNikita · 12/12/2019 16:15

What are you doing at night to get them that dirty that they have to be changed every day? Secreting, mainly.

FruitcakeOfHate · 12/12/2019 16:16

Pant always.

Ellie56 · 12/12/2019 16:16

I wear pants OP but the men here don't.

gothefcktosleep · 12/12/2019 16:18

Ummmm.... traditionally no pants but recently started wearing pants and I quite like it?

TatianaLarina · 12/12/2019 16:18

I’d stick with your MO personally OP. I’m not at all tempted to fly free.

What happens when your bum crack itches?

Loveislandaddict · 12/12/2019 16:18

Don’t feel the need to ‘let it breathe’.

JinglingHellsBells · 12/12/2019 16:18

@siacolouredthesmallone I don't wear PJs in bed as I'd feel too trussed up. I wear nighties, usually knee length, often from The White Company.

DH wears nothing Grin Kids wore pants under PJs at primary school age when they had worms now and then.

GCAcademic · 12/12/2019 16:19

The poll is showing this to be a highly-divisive question, with a narrowness of margin not seen since June 2016.

Loveislandaddict · 12/12/2019 16:19

And never had thrush

Whattodoabout · 12/12/2019 16:19

My Mum always told me to take them off in bed to let my bits breathe. I can’t sleep without undies on now, it just feels weird. My DC wear them in bed too, I also think it’s more hygienic.

1stWorldProblems · 12/12/2019 16:20

Nowt in bed here for 3 out of 4 of us. Pj's worn after evening baths then off for sleeping. I might wear a night shirt & socks if (boiling hot) DH is away. Pants re just for periods at night. DD2 wears pj's & no pants - had to change her back to her summer-weight duvet as over-heating & waking up but won't sleep in the buff.

B0bbin · 12/12/2019 16:20

Clean pjs every day would be a lot of laundry. We go with clean pants under pjs...

GatoFofo · 12/12/2019 16:20

Pants under pjs in our house. I’d rather wash more pants than daily pjs x4.

JinglingHellsBells · 12/12/2019 16:20

What's happened to wearing nighties?

You can have them knee length (or shorter) or ankle length.

Comfy, no elastic waist, air circulates, and no need for pants .

Frazzled2207 · 12/12/2019 16:21

We all have pants under pjs. My mum thinks this is a bit odd though.

bettybigballs · 12/12/2019 16:21

I'm also in a parallel universe, I have never not worn pants to bed... how do your genitals 'breathe'? is that a thing??
