Aibu: PJs with pants underneath at night?*

I do, partner does, and so do the kids. However we didn't when we were kids, and my nieces don't when they come to stay. Was reading something on the NHS site about worms recently (prompted by the wildly inappropriate 'medicating-someone-else's-kid' post a few days ago - I mean the action was inappropriate, not the "thread") and it suggested wearing pants with PJs to combat thread-worms, implying that ppl don't normally??

Aibu in that we all do wear pants with nightwear as it's basic hygiene to me ?

*Not a pants-troll, but you'll either believe me or you won't....

Am I being unreasonable?

We never holiday unless it's an apartment with machine. But yeah we do get through more pairs then I realised until now!!

I wear pants under pjs. Otherwise would surely need to wash pjs every day? Same as wearing clean pants every day?

Pursefirst · 12/12/2019 15:49

Why is it important that our "bits" breathe at night time? Are they holding their breath during the day? JOKE before the nest of vipers launch on me

OP, I wear (clean!) pants and pjs. Not wearing pants under pjs would fee as weird to me as not wearing pants under jeans/trousers/skirts/etc. I'm almost 34 years on this planet and my bits haven't needed to be resuscitated yet, so I reckon you are fine to keep doing what you are doing.

TheReef · 12/12/2019 15:49

Nope, no one wears pants to bed in hour home, either naked or wearing pjs

Does anyone have a link to the thread mentioned in the op?

siacolouredthesmallone · 12/12/2019 15:50

Hmmm.....the scores are evening out now. The dilemma is still up for grabs then....

I wear pants under pjs, but take pj bottoms off to sleep or I feel too dressed for bed.

Think dd does same as well. Dh wears either boxers or nothing in bed. Ds wears pjs but no pants, or boxers like his dad.

I don't think my mary can get air to it under the quilt anyway. Plus I sleep with one leg around the quilt sometimes so would want to wash the quilt cover more if it's hugging my fanny every night in the summer.

Waterandlemonjuice · 12/12/2019 15:52

We all wear pants under pyjamas, the same ones we’ve worn all day. Clean pyjamas every few days

stripeypillowcase · 12/12/2019 15:52

always knickers under pj.
dc and dh as well.
never had thrush ever.

Thescrewinthetuna · 12/12/2019 15:53

Always wear pants under PJs here. Even as a child I hated not having pants on under my PJs. Only had thrush once and that was due to a long course of antibiotics.

Disfordarkchocolate · 12/12/2019 15:53

I like a bit of fresh air so PJ bottoms are only worn when I get up.

Thestrangestthing · 12/12/2019 15:54

I don't even own a pair actually Blush

Doyoumind · 12/12/2019 15:54

I always wears pants but didn't as a child and I don't keep DC in pants under pyjamas. I feel I need something more skin tight to soak up any moisture Grin TMI I know.

ActualHornist · 12/12/2019 15:54

I sleep in the nip, one boy in pants under pjs the other doesn’t like pants underneath. Other kid chops and changes.

Depends what is personally comfortable. I don’t often wear pjs in bed but when I do, I prefer pants underneath else everything rides up and the seams chafe my sensitive bits!

HarrietTheFly · 12/12/2019 15:55

I think it's better not to, but I've slept in pants and a t-shirt or vest for my whole adult life. I put my pyjamas on when I wake up and when I come home, I never sleep in them. As a child I slept in pyjamas with no pants. DD has always insisted on wearing pants under her pyjamas ever since she grew out of nappies. Dp doesn't wear pants under his pyjamas.

beingajen · 12/12/2019 15:55

I had a nether region operation, and kept getting infections in the wound afterwards. Got told to stop wearing either PJs or pants to bed to cool and air the area out (by the nurse). Then to stay that way going forward. It cleared up in days, and never had any issues since. So it is just a PJ shirt for me now.

swapsicles · 12/12/2019 15:55

Always wear pants with or without PJ's.
Easier to wash pants than PJ's!
A thin layer of cotton between any skin that may touch solves any sweating issues too

siacolouredthesmallone · 12/12/2019 15:56

@Purpleartichoke: feel better soon Flowers

I read a very moving article recently about a Paralympic cyclist with tender skin in the pants region. Will try and find it (although I'm not saying it's connected to what you said; just that it was a moving piece about a topic that should be raised more perhaps....)

Fresh pants at bedtime and fresh in the morning - so two pairs of pants in 24 hours.

Mia1415 · 12/12/2019 15:57

I always wear pants! I'm shocked people don't

siacolouredthesmallone · 12/12/2019 15:58

agree with Waterandlemonjuice

AlrightyyThen · 12/12/2019 15:59

Reading this i had no idea people didnt wear them at night. Me and both kids wear them. I'd feel weird and breezy without them on Grin

DarlingNikita · 12/12/2019 16:01

My DP thinks no pants with PJs but I think it's weird not to. I mean, I wouldn't go without pants in normal trousers (yes I know some people do, but that's a different issue!).

I'd have to wash the PJ bottoms after every wear as I do (sorry TMI) get bit much discharge to get away with not.

And I imagine they'd ride up and the seams would chafe – they do a bit even with pants on.

MerryDeath · 12/12/2019 16:01

no pants here i like to get some air around the flaps. the only night time pants wearer is DS in his pull-ups.
