I just don't get it, pair of talentless twunts but become nations darlings over past 20 years, the epitomise what is wrong with ITV which is all about egos.

What ever they are on is total rubbish.

People have different tastes. I don't care for them much though I think you know what to expect from them.

There are millions of people who watch the transphobic foul mouthed so-called 'comedy' with two of the cast allegedly being active tax dodgers called Mrs Browns Boys, which is far worse.

MistyCloud · 09/12/2019 17:39

@LostInMeetings

@MistyCloud I wonder if you would be so forgiving if it was your neighbour, a parent from school, or is it just celebrities who get a free pass?

Yes I absolutely would be 'so forgiving' of a neighbour or a parent from the school or ANYONE who did the same as Ant. Why on earth would I not be? What a ridiculous question.

And no - it's NOT just celebrities who get a free pass.

I know it doesn't suit your agenda to believe that, so you will probably post soon to say exactly that.

Good job I don't give a rat's tiny titty what you think.

Just like Ant McPartlin doesn't.

As a pp said, I have no idea why you think anyone should need YOUR forgiveness, and as I said earlier, there are a few people on here who are full of their own self importance, and think their opinions are WAY more important and valid than anyone else's.

You are one of them.

You can keep prodding and poking and goading, but you are not going to to make me say what you want to hear, or agree with you in any way. So jog on.

@Roussette

@MistyCloud Totally agree.

Some people are just so pious about him and this. I presume they have never put a foot wrong in their entire lives and are models of society that we can revere.

The bloke made a mistake, a bad one, he accepted his punishment. The End.

Yeah this. I agree. Smile

Whattodoabout · 09/12/2019 17:45

YANBU. I loved them as a child, I was a huge fan of SMTV live and even Pop Idol but then I grew up and realised ITV was shite as are they.

Well your tantrum suggests you do. I hope you picked up your toys after throwing them out your pram. My best friends brother was killed by a drunk driver when he was 11, so my sympathy for wankers that drink and drive is non existent. They are scum.

But if they are celebrities then they are given a free pass. My friends brothers killer wasn't famous so he went to prison, no doubt if he had been a tv star you would have been full of compassion for him.

LagunaBubbles · 09/12/2019 19:30

Dislike them a you want but they aren't talentless

In your opinion. You have yours, I have mine

Yes as do millions of other people who think they're funny.

Ah ha.... You are clearly projecting your issues onto the people on this board - and you seem to be particularly determined to target me for some bizarre reason.

As for this new piece of information you have suddenly chosen to share...

Your friend's brother's killer actually KILLED your friend's brother, when he was drunk and behind the wheel of a car.

Ant McPartlin killed NO-ONE.

Why you are comparing these 2 scenarios is just beyond me.

Do not talk to me again on this thread. I no longer wish to communicate with you on here. I don't know what your game is, but I'm not playing.

VanyaHargreeves · 09/12/2019 20:01

I actually think they both showed their true colours in the way they made fun of Andy Whyment this year

It was two snotty little rich boys having a massive scoff at the pauper kid who thinks a Spanish package holiday with his Grandad is mint.

They were completely tone deaf as to how it was coming across as they continued to do it throughout the series.

Talk about mocking your base.

NotAPoshTelevision · 09/12/2019 20:09

He killed no one, so that's ok then...

LostInMeetings · 09/12/2019 20:35

Ant McPartlin killed NO-ONE.

By pure luck not his judgement.

VanyaHargreeves · 09/12/2019 20:37

By pure luck

Funny how no one remembers his very near miss involved a terrified child

LostInMeetings · 10/12/2019 08:27

I don't think drink driving should be excused, forgiven or brushed over and accepted as an oops.

If anything it should be more demonized so less and less people do it.

Most people know someone who has been affected by drunk driving.

Holdingtherope · 10/12/2019 09:37

I totally agree about the mocking of andy

Fulltimenanny · 10/12/2019 09:50

It is hard not too watch them when they are on shows I like. Im a celeb and BGT etc. But you are right in what you say. I mean I always moan when they come on and my partner thinks they are brilliantHmm

MummyNWife · 10/12/2019 10:27

I really like them :)

.......
Ant was certainly demonised for a long time because of his drink driving and nobody considered it 'oops'.

Such demonising must come to an end eventually. Personally I think he experienced the abyss and is rehabilitated.

It gave so many people an opportunity to look down on someone else and doing that is a very vicious emotion. Nobody is perfect and various things drive people to drink. Let's be glad it appears to be over for him. Move on and pick on someone else.

LostInMeetings · 10/12/2019 11:56

You seem to think I'm being mean to him. ANY celebrity who drives drunk, (hits 2 cars containing children FFS) should not be on TV, lauded and adored. I don't care who it is. You seem to think I have a problem with Ant McPartlin personally. I don't, any, I repeat any person in the public eye I would feel the same.
I have an issue with drunk drivers.

Snuffkindle · 10/12/2019 15:42

I don't watch I'm a Celebrity, but I enjoyed their DNA Journey. It touched on their friendship and Ant's struggles and Dec's feelings and forgiveness. I thought they came across well.

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 10/12/2019 15:53

YABU I like Ant and Dec

Doubleraspberry · 10/12/2019 17:10

It touched on their friendship and Ant's struggles and Dec's feelings and forgiveness. I thought they came across well.

Of course they did! The whole programme was a massive bit of ITV PR.

Bluerussian · 10/12/2019 17:22

I understand you have a problem with drunk drivers generally, LostinMeetings, most of us do. It's wrong to drink and drive and everyone knows that. However I don't think they are beyond rehabilitation and forgiveness, especially if they firmly resolve never to do anythng so irresponsible and dangerous again.

The problem with 'celebrity' is that the world and his wife know about what they've done. If I was caught drinking and driving - which wouldn't because I've seen the harm that drinking can do - I doubt anyone would know outside of my immediates unless I seriously hurt another person. I could go about my rehab and feel my shame privately. I'd pay my fines and accept the ban but wouldn't have complete strangers knowing the details. It would be easier for me to accept help and make amends in my own way and people wouldn't think I was the devil incarnate. Some people who would actually be far worse than me in the scheme of things.

The big down on Ant was way out of proportion. He paid for his crime, it's over and he will be different to how he was.

Actionhasmagic · 10/12/2019 17:24

Yanbu I saw them at a festival a few years ago and their intro was ‘we love coming to this festival as there are always hot girls’ !!! I was like nooooo this isn’t the ant and dec I know from tv

LostInMeetings · 10/12/2019 17:33

They've made millions from their celebrity so I don't feel sorry for them. The public have seen the good and bad. Being celebrities is how they have made their money so they can't pick and choose.

Aragog · 10/12/2019 19:35

Of course they did! The whole programme was a massive bit of ITV PR.

But it WAS started before the drink driving conviction, and the year off.
The first part was all done before that. The reason it took so long to make was because of the year off in the middle. It wasn't created just to make the heat off this incident.

Hingeandbracket · 10/12/2019 19:48

I don’t like them but I find them really easy to avoid.
