I just don't get it, pair of talentless twunts but become nations darlings over past 20 years, the epitomise what is wrong with ITV which is all about egos.

What ever they are on is total rubbish.

Yes, let’s get them off tv because some people don’t like them. Millions do though and that’s why they are very popular. I’m sure the people you like are hated my many. Not everyone can be liked. I can’t stand David Attenborough but that wouldn’t go down well in here

Sofacat · 08/12/2019 08:15

It’s not really The presenters fault that they are on so many tv programmes, I’d certainly do the same if I was being paid the (presumably) large amounts of money that they are .

TreeTopTim · 08/12/2019 08:17

I used to like them but over the last few years I have avoided anything that they have been on.

They have outstayed their welcome. Them and Phil and Holly need to take a break from tv.

@Progress2019 I would also have watched the money programme if Phil wasn't presenting it.

emilybrontescorsett · 08/12/2019 08:18

I've thought for a long time they are very over exposed.
I think the same about Phil and Holly.
I say that as someone who doesn't watch Celebrity Jungle, Dancing on Ice or This Morning !

SquareAsABlock · 08/12/2019 08:30

I loved them on SMTVLive with Cat Deeley. They genuinely seemed to be having fun and had great charisma. Maybe it's age, but I haven't enjoyed their act for years. I'm not into reality shows anyway so never really bothered with Britain's got talent or I'm A Zeleb Give Me Attention, but even Saturday Night Takeaway didnt have the charisma that SMTVL had, everything they do these days is just too polished and a bit contrived. Maybe Cat was truly the great talent there Grin.

As for the drink driving conviction. Yes it was an absolutely awful thing to do but I dont believe mistakes should be thrown in people's faces their whole lives. What bothers me (as it did with Cheryl Cole) was the lack of personal remorse over the whole thing. Always 'oh but this and that and the other made me act like a twat', just bloody own it without excuses.

I think that these presenters get paid so much money that TV bosses make them present everything between them rather than pay new talent, which is why they are overexposed. Not just ITV.

Wheelerdeeler · 08/12/2019 08:47

Ant and Dec are the worst presenters on tv. Everything is so fake and read directly from autocue. I am baffled they are so popular.

Roussette · 08/12/2019 08:55

Gosh, I think completely the opposite. I think they're naturals with the ad libs.

They are obviously polarising!

Sparklingbrook · 08/12/2019 09:00

I agree @Roussette , the ad libs aren't on autocue, they seem really natural.

Skinnychip · 08/12/2019 09:02

I used to really like them, then it was different vibe on I'm a celeb with Holly last year, and there wasn't the same sort of banter, but this year it seems more forced and not naturally as funny although the whole series has been less entertaining

FizzyIce · 08/12/2019 09:04

I like them , they do make me laugh and their chemistry helps.
They need Stephen mulhern more though , he’s also funny .
Cannot stand Holly though , urgh

Collision · 08/12/2019 09:07

I love them but they are funnier when not scripted.

CallmeAngelina · 08/12/2019 09:08

Maybe, maybe not, but on the aftershow last night there was a similar routine between Emily Atack and Joel Dommett, based on the premise that he hadn't been invited to some sort of social do for all the cast. It was excruciating! Emily killed it stone dead with her delivery.
Kind of showed that it's not necessarily easy what Ant & Dec do.

LostInMeetings · 08/12/2019 09:12

I don't watch I'm a celeb, so I'm not sure if Dec has any talent but Ant... The drink driving followed by the cruel comments and digs towards his ex wife... Because of this I can't understand why he's even on TV any more. The drink driving was unforgivable.

Roussette · 08/12/2019 09:17

But it's OK for Cheryl Cole to beat up a toilet attendant and forge a huge career on the likes of XFactor etc?

Sparklingbrook · 08/12/2019 09:30

There’s loads of celebrities on TV that have very dodgy pasts. Gino D’Campo and his burgling, I think the late actor that played Dirty Den had been in prison.

CallmeAngelina · 08/12/2019 09:30

But it's OK for Cheryl Cole to beat up a toilet attendant

Has anyone said that was OK?

PineappleDanish · 08/12/2019 09:33

They appeal to the core demographic of ITV.

Can't stand them.

ManonBlackbeak · 08/12/2019 09:39

I’ve always liked them, grew up with them from Byker Grove to SMTV and proper grown up telly. Something has changed though, they don’t seem as close and It all seems a bit forced now, they used to make IAC but it’s definitely not the same anymore.

TheGoogleMum · 08/12/2019 09:59

Ah i still like them, although I haven't bothered with I'm a celebrity this year and didn't watch that dna show either... I don't watch much normal tv mostly Netflix. The drink driving incident was really bad and he was lucky it wasn't worse, but I think he does realise that and going out of the spotlight for a year to sort himself out was a good idea. I did watch I'm a celeb last year (I was on Mat leave so had a bit more free time!) And thought Dec did a good job without Ant, but obviously they sell better as a package

Roussette · 08/12/2019 10:00

Has anyone said that was OK?
No, but I was responding to a poster who said he shouldn't be on TV any more becaue of the drink driving. So I drew a comparison with CC

Roussette · 08/12/2019 10:03

I think the late actor that played Dirty Den had been in prison
He'd actually committed murder Shock

EggysMom · 08/12/2019 10:05

I don't really like A&D but - unlike many reality stars (I'm looking at you, Rylan) - A&D appear to put a lot of effort into their endeavours, and they have become very popular as a result of their hard work. So they must have something, it's just 'something' that doesn't appeal to me.

relax2 · 08/12/2019 10:05

Yabu - no one makes you watch them it's not like they know ;) I love them and I love that ITV are much more embracing of MH since Ant's breakdown and encouraging of viewers to support each other!
