I just don't get it, pair of talentless twunts but become nations darlings over past 20 years, the epitomise what is wrong with ITV which is all about egos.

What ever they are on is total rubbish.

OP posts:

Because of this I can't understand why he's even on TV any more. The drink driving was unforgivable.

Because most people don't lose their job and their career because of this. Unless their job involved driving then very very few people will lose their job for a drink driving offence. They get the punishment from the courts and serve that, and are able to return to their normal job.

Samcro · 08/12/2019 10:09

i avoid anything they are in.
really don't get the love of Ant. cheating, dd scum.

easyandy101 · 08/12/2019 10:10

SMTV was my post rave staple

I haven't watched TV for quite a few years so maybe haven't had a chance to go off them but i always liked them

MoltoAgitato · 08/12/2019 10:16

Can’t say I have much time for Ant but I do like Dec, and I have heard they are extremely professional at work.

Their style of light entertainment is woefully absent from Saturday night TV these days. There is nothing I want to watch with my children- the main programs are Strictly and X factor, which revolve around putting women in shitty skimpy costumes. And don’t give me nonsense about it being about the singing/ dancing - somehow the men seem to do all their stuff whilst fully dressed.

SomethingAboutNothing · 08/12/2019 10:22

I dislike the way Ants problems have been managed. The PR firms/ITV clearly have said 'you need to stay out of the spotlight for a year, then we'll make a tv show (DNA journey) where you can tell everyone you were in a bad place yada yada and the public will lap it up, then you can just slot back in like nothing has happened'. There is no true remorse there, just blame and minimising. It's all so calculated.

I don't get people's comments about Tess Daley though, the only show I see her in is SCD. But I mostly watch Netflix so am maybe just oblivious to this overexposure people have mentioned 🤷‍♀️

JKScot4 · 08/12/2019 10:24

@EggysMom
Bloody Rylan; irritating voice, plasticy face, forced humour, cannot see why he gets so much work.

Jumpi · 08/12/2019 10:28

I really like them both, find them funny and easy to watch. HW doing IAC last year ruined it for me, she squealed the whole way through and I ended up muting the tv for most of it.

Jumpi · 08/12/2019 10:28

Also the crying at the trials Confused just weird.

easyandy101 · 08/12/2019 10:34

I like hilly wallaby too Blush

Doubleraspberry · 08/12/2019 10:36

Until the drink driving thing last year I hadn’t clocked just how much stuff they are on as we only watch Saturday Night Takeaway. ITV have a serious Single Point of Failure there on their risk register.

I hope they are doing some serious show development behind the scenes as they seem entirely dependent on four presenters to bring home all their big shows. Madness.

FizzyIce · 08/12/2019 10:37

As for the drink driving , I have lost count of how many celebrities have been arrested for this but are still on tv and not getting stick . Also how many of them have had messy divorces .. what makes it so different that it’s Ant?

Serin · 08/12/2019 10:39

Tedious prats.
My Mum likes them but she is 86 and has Alzheimers.

Sherbertx · 08/12/2019 10:42

I like them. Everyone makes mistakes and he has clearly over come a lot. Can't keep holding someone against something for the rest of their life when they are trying to change HmmHmm

duckyolucky · 08/12/2019 10:49

I don't mind them but don't understand why they, Holly, Phil, Rochelle seem to be the only ITV presenters. I mean what's wrong with mixing it up?

Straycatstrut · 08/12/2019 10:54

I liked them about 10 years ago but now I think they're a bit too old for the daft, silly way they act. It's more cringe and recycled jokes than fresh and funny.

TV is desperate for new presenters/new double act. I suppose you can't just ditch who is considered to be the nations sweethearts - they don't really deserve to be sacked!

duckyolucky · 08/12/2019 10:55

They appeal to the core demographic of ITV.

Who watches This Morning? I always what their demographic is.

duckyolucky · 08/12/2019 10:55

wonder what

OrangeZog · 08/12/2019 11:03

I hardly watch tv these days but I think I would be in the camp of wanting more variety of presenters if I did. From what I gather, it’s a very limited pool of presenters and they cover many of the significant shows. I wonder whether some of those who have had enough of Ant and Dec would feel the same if they had just seen less of them in general.

Holdingtherope · 08/12/2019 11:09

I like them as it’s family friendly and my kids love them.

I like them too.

The dd and divorce how hard must that have been to go through that. He is only human at the end of the day

RunningNinja79 · 08/12/2019 11:26

I never watched Byker Grove (as Home and Away was on at the same time), but did like PJ & Duncan when they brought out the songs. I even got the second single (Why me which was before Lets get ready to Rumble) and the album (still have it somewhere). I used to enjoy SMTV live too. Didn't mind Takeaway when it first started, but soon got bored of that and subsequently A&D. I'm just bored of them now.

Then again I'm also very much the sort of person who tends to go off someone as soon as they are deemed to be someone everyone must love.

I just avoid watching them. That's more because its just not my thing. Never watched IAC, I wouldn't go out of my way to be negative towards them. I also dont think Ant should be constantly reprimanded because of one period of time where he wasn't being the upstanding citizen he should have been.

RasberryRoyale · 08/12/2019 11:34

Loved Ant and Dec since SMTV.

Even before Ant’s issues I was getting tired of their shows though. Takeaway is shite and really outstayed it’s welcome. It was great at first and now it’s tired, dull and predictable.

Must say, not as keen on Ant since he started rubbing his ex wife’s face in it with his new relationship and constantly been papped with their dog that they are fighting over. I don’t think he really showed remorse over the drink driving. I think there’s a lot more to that story than we are being told,

LostInMeetings · 08/12/2019 11:50

@Roussette I don't watch xfactor. I know nothing about CC, but if she goes around beating up people then no it's not ok.

Aragog · 08/12/2019 12:07

you need to stay out of the spotlight for a year, then we'll make a tv show (DNA...

The Tv show had already started before this happened. It was supposed to be finished much earlier. They spoke about it on the actual show. They did some, then had the long break, and then returned to it.

mencken · 08/12/2019 12:30

the law may forgive drunk driving but I don't. Not hard to avoid them as they do nothing in which I am interested, but they are now instant 'off switch' material.

still, at least I know which is which now.

Holdingtherope · 08/12/2019 12:42

I don’t think he does rub his ex wife’s face in it. Sounds like relationship was difficult and over towards the end and he moved on, millions of men do this everyday
