I just don't get it, pair of talentless twunts but become nations darlings over past 20 years, the epitomise what is wrong with ITV which is all about egos.

What ever they are on is total rubbish.

OP posts:

YANBU OP

WAY past their sell by date

All ITVs mainstay formats are beyond stale at this point.

MistyCloud · 07/12/2019 21:29

@HeresMe

I really like them, and like other posters, they make me laugh out loud sometimes, and I LOVE them on I'm a Celebrity. Also, I think it's very unfair for Ant to be punished for life for what happened (when he caused a car crash by being over the limit.) He made a stupid mistake, and received the punishment that the law dished out.

This is going to be like Cheryl from Girls Aloud. Got involved in a spat with an attendant in a public loo, (16 years ago,) and hit out at the woman, and people still constantly bring it up, even though she was punished suitably at the time.

They could find a cure for every disease on the planet, and people would still drag up that one shitty thing they did in the past. It's quite low and scuzzy to keep dragging up a particular negative thing someone did in the past, in order to attack them, and score points.

Someone mentioned Phil and Holly earlier in the thread. I am not a huge fan of them. I find Phil a bit sanctimonious, and Holly rather talentless and squeaky. And I find their constant 'laughing fits' very irksome. It grates on me when I see This Morning winning the best daytime TV programme at the NTA awards EVERY SINGLE YEAR. (Then again, it's also a bit tedious that Ant and Dec have won the 'Best Presenters' for 19-20 years in a row!)

I do agree with a few other posters that it is boring, and a bit crap, that they keep using the same small pool of presenters on TV, and they do need to give a lot more people a chance. I know a few people who are in the performing arts industry, and despite being very talented, and having been around for 15-20 years in the industry, they cannot get that big break. And they never will, with the best jobs being given to the same small bunch of people.

I agree with @rhubarbcrumbles too, that there was no need to start an unpleasant thread about Ant and Dec.

faevern · 07/12/2019 21:30

I’ve loved them since I used to laugh my way through Saturday mornings on SMTV live. But I can’t watch now because of Ant’s behaviour and switched off their DNA journey either, particularly when he quipped about being away for a year.

Dec did very well without him and should have left it that way.

PinkiOcelot · 07/12/2019 21:34

They’ve certainly come a long way since PJ and Duncan. Luckiest Geordies ever.

YADNBU. Way past their sell by.

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 07/12/2019 21:36

I think it's very unfair for Ant to be punished for life for what happened (when he caused a car crash by being over the limit.)

You think the very first time he crashed his car whilst over the limit was the only time he ever drove over the limit? Nope. It was just the first time he got caught.

Orchidflower1 · 07/12/2019 21:37

I dislike them now because if Ant. It’s the whole nastiness with his ex wife that’s turned me off.

I8toys · 07/12/2019 21:41

Its a tv programme. I like them

mintich · 07/12/2019 21:43

What are the cruel comments he made about his ex?

MistyCloud · 07/12/2019 21:54

@AllYouGoodGoodPeople

You think the very first time he crashed his car whilst over the limit was the only time he ever drove over the limit? Nope. It was just the first time he got caught.

Oh don't talk such rot.

You're scraping the bottom of the strawman barrel there.

You could say that about anyone and everyone. Every single person has done something wrong/bad/against the law in their life - probably more than once - and many have NEVER been caught.

You clearly dislike Ant for some reason, but stick to the facts. You have no idea how many other times he drove over the limit, or if this was the only time he did it. So stop with the strawman guff.

dannydyerismydad · 07/12/2019 21:57

On the recent DNA journey there was a piece where both Ant and Dec were interviewed about Ant's stints in rehab, the drink driving and his year away from the cameras.

Ant was really snarky about his problems come from him not being in a good place and not being in a good relationship. It was really uncomfortable to see and so disrespectful towards his ex wife.

AlexaAmbidextra · 07/12/2019 22:12

I’m with you OP. I just cannot see how this talentless duo have ended up so popular.

JemSynergy · 07/12/2019 22:15

They have annoyed me a little of Celeb Jungle this year, their jokes are far too scripted. I would also like to see Holly W and Tess step down a bit.

faevern · 08/12/2019 05:41

I agree @dannydyerismydad for me it is Ants arrogance at the whole episode that makes him unwatchable for me.

@MistyCloud it wasn’t a stupid mistake, the night before he was live on TV, so he must have been on some binge to be that much off his face driving that car, and yet, he still drove the car and this was after he had been to rehab.

That is not even comparable to the Cheryl Cole incident.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 08/12/2019 06:17

I think they're great fun.

I find it strange that people are judging him on saying he was in an unhappy marriage. A lot of people do things they shouldn't when they're unhappy. It's not on any of us to judge what went on behind closed doors.

He took time out and helped himself. He apologised for the mistakes he's made. He checked himself into rehab. What more can he do?

StreetwiseHercules · 08/12/2019 07:27

“ You think the very first time he crashed his car whilst over the limit was the only time he ever drove over the limit? Nope. It was just the first time he got caught.”

You’ve no fucking evidence of that whatsoever, and what you are doing here is a libel or defamation. It’s also absolutely none of your business.

Ant McPartlin was dealt with by the courts and that is the end of the matter. It’s going nothing to do with you.

funmummy48 · 08/12/2019 07:34

I love them and find them hilariously funny 😉

BustedDreams · 08/12/2019 07:35

I think they are great! Funny, good chemistry together and yes I do believe they present their shows well.

LagunaBubbles · 08/12/2019 07:39

I’m with you OP. I just cannot see how this talentless duo have ended up so popular

We all like different things. Simple really. Dislike them a you want but they aren't talentless.

Tellmetruth4 · 08/12/2019 07:39

ITV seriously need to widen their pool of presenters.

DHW1 · 08/12/2019 07:55

Absolutely love Ant and Dec - yes Ant’s had many problems over the last couple of years but we’ve all made mistakes the main difference though is ours aren’t all over the papers for everyone to read and comment upon. They are fun and down to earth I definitely don’t see a big ego when I watch.

LoseLooseLucy · 08/12/2019 07:59

I love them ❤🤷

BuildBuildings · 08/12/2019 08:02

I agree op. I don't watch the type of TV they're on so never watch them. Also which one of them has a drink driving convention? Most people seem to have forgotten about that.

LoseLooseLucy · 08/12/2019 08:04

Most people seem to have forgotten about that.

It's mentioned about 10 times in this thread alone...

Roussette · 08/12/2019 08:07

They really make me laugh but only probably on I'm a Celebrity. I think they're clever, and deserve to be where they are.

I can get over the mistakes Ant made, personally I think Cheryl Cole lamping someone is far far worse, I can't imagine ever hitting anyone but drink driving whilst an awful thing to do, was when he was in a bad place whereas CC was on her way up when she lost it.

Progress2019 · 08/12/2019 08:10

I don’t like them, or Philip Schofield, but manage to completely avoid watching them. I always think I don’t like Holly too, but realised I’ve never actually watched her. Don’t think i’m missing much though.

It just pisses me off that they're in so much. Theres a programme about saving money at christmas coming up (or might have been on recently), but its presented by Philip S, so I won’t watch it, when I would have, had it been someone else. Particularly someone who might have recent experience of having to save money.

TV needs a real shake up. I bet theres so much talent out there, but we’ll never know. I love football, but can’t watch Match of the Day because Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer need punching.
