What's your ultimate 'comforting hug' film?

I've got a mild hangover after Christmas drinks last night, DH has his works Christmas do tonight and I cannot wait just to snuggle on the sofa in my PJ's with a pizza once DS is in bed.

I want to watch an old familiar film which I've seen before, which I don't have to concentrate on and which will sooth my achy post hangover body.

What is your top re-watch film for situations like this? My brain is too frazzled to think!!

Depends how hungover I am.
If I'm really hungover and feeling needy and attention(y) but I'm home alone and have No1 to cater to my every need and play with my back, il watch the notebook, and I will cry the hangover out, I will ugly cry and sob it out. I don't know why but it always makes me feel better.

I actually once made DH watch it when he was hungover and he cried too. 😂

Annnyyyway, if I'm just a wee bit rough Id stick on

Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Not my usual sort of film (I’m a bit of film buff so generally watch very different things) but if I’m feeling really down I always watch it.

Also, Airheads :D

tillytrotter1 · 06/12/2019 22:41

Ghost

Being very old I've seen this countless times but I a) still chuckle at the scene in the lift and have shamelessly copied the idea frequently and b) cringe and close my eyes when the pane of glass falls onto the evil Karrrlll.
I once stumbled on a kerb, fell forward rolling onto my back, my head slammed into a plate glass window and all I could think about was this scene from Ghost!

Dd watched Enchanted today For the first time and I ended up watching all of it with her. Awesome movie.

Also love Sweet Home Alabama. Cheesy as hell, but a proper rom com.

I also watch all the Bridget Jones movies in order, every Xmas, along with The Wedding Singer

The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. It’s just such a lovely flamboyant funny film with a fantastic ending. I just love it.

Livpool · 06/12/2019 23:10

Any cheesy romantic comedy

Crocky · 06/12/2019 23:15

Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol.

FrankieDoyle · 06/12/2019 23:16

Armageddon. My dad died the year it came out.
When she's saying goodbye to her dad on the satellite screen and he says "I'm sorry I wont be there to walk you down the aisle, but I'll look in on you from time to time.."
I CRY SO MUCH.
But oddly it comforts me at the same time.
I also enjoy the story, the characters, and the special effects and the music.
I watch it a lot.

I think it's only been mentioned once so far but my go-to is The Wedding Date. Totally underrated film! I've watched it so many times I know every word, every inflection, every facial expression... & still I can't get enough of it! Grin
