Why so many threads criticising Corbyn and so few about Boris Johnson

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 14:50

If any??

There are SO many issues with Johnson - he is involved in at least 3 different potential scandals at the moment - the supressed Russia Dossier, the Jennifer Arcuri misconduct allegations and Vote Leave electoral fraud. His personal is marred with allegations of sleazy conduct and dishonesty. His working life outside parliament is a similar story of lies, conniving, incompetence.

Yet I don't see endless threads lambasting him - it just seems to be shrugged off with a 'well we all know what he's like'. Why is he getting such an easy ride on all this?

@Halleli are you also @CendrillonSings ?? Surely there can’t be more than one of you so devoid of morals?

ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 15:02

Corbyn also supports the Palestinian people against daily oppression

Which I why Halleli hates him so much

Halleli · 20/11/2019 15:11

@Jakymz

Grow up.

If you're going to claim Corbyn supports oppressed people, you're going to need to account for his huge selectivity in which 'oppressed' people he has any interest in.

How do you explain his support for the Iranian regime?

Iran gives the death penalty to teenagers under the age of 18.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Asgari_and_Ayaz_Marhoni

Iran persecutes the Baha'i minority.
www.hrw.org/news/2018/10/16/iran-arrests-harassment-bahais

Iran executes gay people.
www.dw.com/en/iran-defends-execution-of-gay-people/a-49144899

Corbyn describes the Iran regime as tolerant, and accepts money to promote it.

These facts may not fit with your worldview, but that doesn't stop them from being facts.

Halleli · 20/11/2019 15:13

2009-12: Corbyn accepts £20,000 for multiple appearances on Iran's state Press TV.

2014: Jeremy Corbyn spoke at an event at London Islamic centre to mark the twenty fifth anniversary of the Iranian Revolution. At this event, he praised Iran’s, “Tolerance and acceptance of other faiths, traditions and ethnic groupings in Iran.”

Do you believe these acts are compatible with his alleged 'support for oppressed people'?

Halleli · 20/11/2019 15:16

And, for the record, Jakymz, since you clearly believe that opposing the senseless slaughter of civilians makes one 'devoid of morals', can I take it as read that you believe the murders of all those civilians I listed were justified?

MunaZaldrizoti · 20/11/2019 16:47

@flowerpowerr

Of course there are problems within the Conservative party too, but Labour is the party being formally investigated by the Equality and Human Rights Commission. The only other party to have come under formal investigation by the EHRC is the BNP.

I find this a concerning basis (EHRC investigation) for thinking the Labour party is racist but the Tories aren't.

Nearly 90 MPs begged the EHRC to investigate Windrush...but they haven't. Baroness Warsi has been begging for an investigation around anti-Muslim bigotry. As have The Muslim Council of Britain. They even provided evidence for its prevalence. Again, bumpkiss from EHRC.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 20/11/2019 17:26

He met with Sinn Fein to discuss an end to armed conflict, as did the British government, numerous times

Much as I loathe the "discussions" with the IRA, I also accept that governments sometimes have to engage with filth when getting things done. Corbyn, on the other hand, was in no position to do anything since nobody's even seen fit to give him a senior post, far less a cabinet position - and the reasons for that are something his backers would be wise to address

Or maybe someone will claim, as a PP did recently, that Corbyn actually drafted the Good Friday Agreement Hmm

shalligoagain · 20/11/2019 17:53

I would like the anti-Semite criticisms of Corbyn/Labour put to rest and therefore welcome the EHRC investigation. I'm sure there are anti-semites in the Labour Party (some of the evidence is indeed shocking) and it needs stamping out (as I've mentioned in a previous post on another thread). But I do not think Corbyn is one of them and the finding of the Select Committee was that anti-semitism was no more prevalent in Labour than in the other parties.

It's important that Jewish people feel safe in this country and I do not want to belittle peoples’ concerns. But we need to look at what the immediate risks are and accusations of racism against one main party, whilst allowing the other main party to be blindly racist and turning a blind eye to their austerity cuts seems to be ignoring the grave danger and risk of death the millions of people living in extreme poverty are facing urgently.

So yes, let's investigate the fuck out of the Labour Party and kick out the racists, but let's not allow this to give a green light to the tories to continue their campaign of killing, when they have yet to wash the blood of 120,000 dead poor people off their hands.

It's like investigating a school bully in one classroom with every resource available, whilst ignoring a murder in the next classroom. Crap analogy sorry, but I'm trying to get across the huge disparity here. So, to continue with the crap analogy, the bullying is disgusting, we should not be quiet about it and needs sorting out, but catching the killer before they kill again should be more pressing.

The tories are literally killing people with their policies and if Corbyn can stop that, then he gets my vote. If he is proven to be an anti-semite, then I would support him being removed and prosecuted and I'd be voting for the next socialist leader.

And for those hawking the Venezuela comparisons. Do your research! Corbyn’s policies are far closer to a Scandinavian model. More DM/Torygraph sound bites. Some people really should be ashamed of themselves continually spouting this shit.

shalligoagain · 20/11/2019 18:14

And I attach a well researched (albeit 3 years old) article on Corbyn's supposed terrorist sympathising.....

medium.com/@luke_davies/corbyns-links-to-terrorists-antisemites-and-dictators-6018ad09a14#.wowgwavwu

MaxNormal · 20/11/2019 18:31

And I am not even touching on what would happen to Corbyn if he was sent to the EU to try and get a deal. That is an hysterical thought!!!!

You actually wrote that with a straight face after the total, utter embarrassment which was the Tories attempts at negotiations?

Considermesometimes · 20/11/2019 18:32

The issue is Momentum are going to flatten business in a way that even brexit couldn't muster, because the jitters that will go through the markets as Corbyn forcibly takes over companies (and not even paying market rate) will send such shockwaves through the whole economy, it is difficult to see how we can even call ourselves a capitalist society after that.

Anyone that is reasonably intelligent will know that full throated socialist countries do not do well, they tend to flounder with good reason. Momentum will stop at nothing to achieve their dream. I am terrified by the prospect. I don't believe it can ever work either, and it will kill our country stone dead in the process. It will be the biggest social experiment this country has ever seen. If you want to play Russian roulette with our future - excuse the pun - be my guest. My family and I have made plans to leave the country indefinitely if he wins, we will have to as our companies are likely to be relocated in any event, and the chances of getting a job here in that back drop will be non existent.

Drabarni · 20/11/2019 18:44

There is racism in all parties, it's getting a bit ridiculous now how it's centred around labour only.
Priti Patel has got to be the most racist person in government and nothing is said.

For MP's who actually care about ethnic minorities, here's my list.

Lloyd Russell Moyle, John McDonnell, Kate Green, Deirdre Brock, Alex Sobel and Catherine West. If you are in one of their constituencies or ever likely to be, then you're lucky.

motherogod · 20/11/2019 21:16

full throated socialist countries do not do well, they tend to flounder with good reason Don't be so utterly ridiculous, that is NOT the plan, it's for Scandinavian style social democracy - how terrible - higher standard of living than the UK, better education system and strong economy. It's hardly a social experiment. [eyeroll] www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/nov/19/labour-programme-utilities-rail-full-fibre-capitalism

ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 21:50

In the last two days two Conservative candidates and one Lib Dem candidate have been suspended over allegations of racism. And the Muslim Council of Britain have written to ITV to complain that the issue of Islamophobia in the Tory party wasn't raised in the debate.

Hardly a mention in the mainstream media.

OP posts:
ThatssomebadhatHarry · 20/11/2019 21:56

Because mumsnet is pretty middle class. People with money don’t care about people with none. They only fear having less money, even if that means others suffer. The Tories have convinced them JC is Robin Hood and the poor are benefits scammers who deserve it.

ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 21:58

And the Tories are on a final warning from twitter over their blatant attempt to disguise their website as a 'fact checker' so they could lie to people during the ITV debate. They are sickening.

OP posts:
ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 22:04

Sadly I think it's true Harry - especially amongst the self-declared 'labour voters' here who just can't lower themselves to vote for Corbyn. They know they're comfortable enough to ride out another Tory government and it's just a big old shame about the poor.

I can't afford another Tory government, i'm already near the bottom of the barrell employment wise - zero hours, minimum way. Neither can my elderly dm with dementia. Neither can my dc, struggling to find their way.

It is hard to fathom how so many blind eyes are turned to the tories, however badly they treat the poor. How dare that commie wanker Corbyn go and spend public money actually taking care of people instead of allowing it all to go into billionaire offshore bank accounts?!! He's a disgrace Grin

Love this old DM article talking about the intelligence (or lack of) of right-wingers.....talk about own goal!

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2095549/amp/Right-wingers-intelligent-left-wingers-says-controversial-study--conservative-politics-lead-people-racist.html

And Brooker's hilarious review of it....

ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 22:51

@ArseDarkly it really tickled me too, you're very welcome!

CendrillonSings · 20/11/2019 23:03

Then it’s funny how the “more intelligent” side still finds itself out of power 7 years after that article was written and heading for yet another defeat, isn’t it? Wink

shalligoagain · 20/11/2019 23:08

Well @CendrillonSings, it would be funny that those right wing lower and middle income turkeys keep voting for Christmas, if the result wasn't so socially catastrophic for anyone but the super rich.

ArseDarkly · 20/11/2019 23:15

Has Cummings promised you a peerage yet Cendrillon?

OP posts:
CendrillonSings · 20/11/2019 23:18

But surely the left’s superior intelligence should be able to overcome such minor obstacles, no? And if only the super rich benefit, that means you’re somehow losing elections despite 99% of the population being better off with you.

Maybe not so superior after all then. Smile
