Why so many threads criticising Corbyn and so few about Boris Johnson

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 14:50

If any??

There are SO many issues with Johnson - he is involved in at least 3 different potential scandals at the moment - the supressed Russia Dossier, the Jennifer Arcuri misconduct allegations and Vote Leave electoral fraud. His personal is marred with allegations of sleazy conduct and dishonesty. His working life outside parliament is a similar story of lies, conniving, incompetence.

Yet I don't see endless threads lambasting him - it just seems to be shrugged off with a 'well we all know what he's like'. Why is he getting such an easy ride on all this?

I could never vote for a party who supported Priti Patel, the open racist.

curlykaren · 19/11/2019 20:08

Yes, laughing at Corbyn being dangerous when Priti Patel is the Home Secretary. She's a genuine threat to National Security.

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 20:09

You're not a real Labour voter EnthusiasmIsDisturbed, I expect you were a big fan of Blair, as were the media. Look where that took the country - a catastrophic illegal war that damaged democracy and unleashed yet more dreadful terrorism. That will never happen under Corbyn.

Jakymz · 19/11/2019 20:12

I’ll be voting labour just to get the Tory scum out of my constituency. They have truly made a mess of everything around here.

And I could never ever vote for a party which Priti Poor Patel is a part of.

Drabarni · 19/11/2019 20:13

curlyKaren

Anybody who refers to the homeless as "person's unknown" and her grand plan to rid the country of people with no fixed abode, is awful.
They probably soil her view, or remind her of what a shit government she's part of.

randomsabreuse · 19/11/2019 20:14

As a pp said I think it is because there is no debate about Johnson and Rees-Mogg being twats/useless etc. It is accepted wisdom that they are. Also very few decent alternatives remain in the Conservative party - Gove or Hunt any better, really...

A lot of the vitriol against Corbyn is because he managed to lose the election against Theresa May (open goal really) and the Euro elections. The fence sitting on Brexit pisses off both sides, general failure to oppose TM's government, shocking referendum campaign "for remain" while apparently wanting brexit...

Add in the fact that there are credible alternatives within his party, who aren't tainted and would appeal to pro European centrists/centre right and it feels like he wants Brexit but for it to be someone else's fault.

Also supposed to be Labour's saviour and hasn't succeeded.

TLDR: disappointment has a lot to do with it!

Lizzie0869 · 19/11/2019 20:23

One thing that will help Corbyn is that there plenty of others who will vote tactically to keep the Tories out. My DM, who has never voted Labour in the past (she's usually a Lib Dem supporter), says that she will 'hold her nose and vote Labour in order to prevent a hard Brexit. There are a lot of us who feel that way.

It's hardly a ringing endorsement for Corbyn, however. He has a hard road ahead.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/11/2019 21:01

Not a really Labour voter oh don’t be so fucking ridiculous ArseDarkly

What because I’m not to the left of the party - most MP’s who are they are more in line with the Socialist Labour Party polices but would never have a career as an MP if they were to stick with the party who’s polices they really believe in (the clue is in the name)

I voted for Neil Kinnock, I would have voted for John Smith (who JC opposed to), Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband. I have been a member and been involved with the local party politics (no longer as what the locally has been hijacked by Momentum)

Under Labour with Tony Blair as PM the lives of many improved, the NHS improved but there were mistakes made and decisions that I didn’t agree with. But he won three consecutive elections and that allowed Labour to make changes to people’s lives to improve people’s lives in opposition you are not in a position to do that and Corbyn will never be anything but a hopelessly incompetent leader as we have witnessed in the last 4 years

The only positive thing to come from this election is that Labour shall have a new leader soon let’s just hope that the the majority of the party don’t vote for someone equally if more even more incompetent (Rayner, McDonnell) but I wouldn’t put it past them for many it’s better to be more to the left and in opposition than to be in power and make real changes

Bluntness100 · 19/11/2019 21:03

It's not complicated really, I'm surprised the question has to be asked. Corbyn and his socialist cohorts, and what they want to do to the countrymen scares the shit out of most right minded people. Hence why so many threads,

noblegiraffe · 19/11/2019 21:04

Labour supporters right now would rather obsess over party purity and getting rid of the ‘Blairites’ (as even Tom Watson was called....) than they care about having an electable leader.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/11/2019 21:08

noblegiraffe totally agree

Another five years for Corbyn and co to plan their revolution Hmm

Drabarni · 19/11/2019 21:39

1/ people are not so blindly devoted to Boris Johnson as they are to Jeremy Corbyn

I hate tories, always have and probably always will.
I like/love labour, always have and probably always will.

On reading headlines, not the actual media reports about Corbyn and Labour party being anti semitic and coming from an ethnic minority closely related in ways to Jews, I panicked.
Htf could I justify voting for these. I set out to find the answer, I've been up all night at times.

I am so happy with my findings, but sorry that some people aren't aware of the consequences of this future Tory government
I suppose it takes passion about something, but unless you are aware of the proposals for certain things, how can you be informed.

I'm not suggesting people should stay up all night, but I'm not the most intelligent, but I've managed it.
Get away from your media reports and look at the past work of these people who are openly detested.

Justanotherlurker · 19/11/2019 22:01

Get away from your media reports and look at the past work of these people who are openly detested.

If only everyone could be as enlightened as you and only read media reports that support your narrative.

This tired meme on MN needs to stop and I am an ethnic minority who has read around the headlines, still wouldn't vote labour so stop trying to speak for everyone along some vague IDPOL lines.

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 22:03

Corbyn and his socialist cohorts, and what they want to do to the countrymen scares the shit out of most right minded people.

Right minded people will be worried about a left minded government i don't doubt. What will a Johnson government do to our country with their useless bungling on brexit and lack of any interest in putting right the damage they've inflicted? Hardly bears thinking about.

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 22:05

Hopefully at least Boris will be taken out soon - if he doesn't lose his seat he will surely have to stand down in disgrace over these scandals

CendrillonSings · 19/11/2019 22:06

Plenty of Corbyn cult fans defending their Dear Leader all over Mumsnet. Not quite sure what your problem is - maybe once Corbyn nationalises the internet he can ensure that only pro-Labour comments get published! Grin

flowerpowerr · 19/11/2019 22:07

Well, Corbyn came across well in tonight’s debate I thought - he seemed to warm up a lot after the first 15 minutes or so and get into his stride. I still can’t vote for Labour though due to the anti-semitism investigation.

CendrillonSings · 19/11/2019 22:08

What, and Corbyn shouldn’t resign over the Labour Party becoming stuffed to the gills with antisemites under his leadership? I think that’s a bit more serious!

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 22:11

Wow, look at Cendrillon still hard at work! Must get tedious constantly bunging the same old Tory HQ stuff out 24 hours a day, you poor thing

OP posts:
CendrillonSings · 19/11/2019 22:13

ArseDarkly

A bit rich considering you started your own thread just to get the Momentum view out there! Grin

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 19/11/2019 22:16

What scandal ?

He had an affair and didn’t disclose he was involved with her and her business benefitting from her connections - or the affair itself

He isn’t going anywhere apart from back to No 10 keep dreaming the man is like Teflon (and that isn’t in support of him)

CendrillonSings · 19/11/2019 22:31

Oh, and what a surprise - Corbyn caught lying about antisemitism again:

mobile.twitter.com/JewishLabour/status/1196894635387506689

Jewish Labour Movement
@JewishLabour

Jeremy Corbyn has claimed that anyone who has been antisemitic in the Labour Party has been "either suspended or expelled".

This is a lie.

DustyDiamond · 19/11/2019 22:33

Corbyn gets called a Communist/Terrorist sympathiser/crackpot etc etc daily

He's all of those 🤷🏻‍♀️

ArseDarkly · 19/11/2019 22:33

What scandal ?

This is what i'm talking about - there should be no question about the scandals he is involved in, it should be all over the media but it isn't.

Misconduct in Public Office allegations re Arcuri.

Suppressing a report about Russian interference in UK politics
Alleged Electoral Fraud wrt to the Vote Leave Campaign of which he was a key part

Eventually the Teflon wears off and you're just left with a clapped-out pan that has to be binned

OP posts:
Drabarni · 19/11/2019 22:42

so stop trying to speak for everyone along some vague IDPOL lines.

I'm just joining in the conversation and giving an opinion, and I'm quite proud I'm not just blindly voting. That's all I've got I'm afraid.
