Just that! Been asked for ID constantly lately and not been wearing makeup as giving my skin a break. I'm 40. This never normally happens. Do you think you look younger without makeup actually?

I think if you apply it properly and very lightly, you can look much brighter, especially as you get older. Heavy foundation looks horrible at any age, and heavy eye make-up, especially when you're older, is very ageing.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/11/2019 22:06

I used to get asked for ID when not wearing makeup, and given kid’s fare on the bus. Doesn’t happen now though. Just get offered a seat.

Fishcakey · 14/11/2019 22:06

I look my age with makeup and about 85 without it!

1Morewineplease · 14/11/2019 22:07

I think you may be right. My daughter (25) doesn’t usually wear makeup and is always asked for ID .
My son ( 22) has a beard and is never asked.

Thurmanmurman · 14/11/2019 22:08

Younger yes, but also a lot uglier 😂

Nuttyaboutnutella · 14/11/2019 22:08

I look like a zombie without makeup Grin

I have pale skin with dark pigment under my eyes so make ups makes me look better. I look very tired without it.

EugenesAxe · 14/11/2019 22:08

Good work 😁

I’m on the fence with this. No makeup can make you look washed out and there’s no disguise of potential lines in the eye area.

That said, too much makeup can age you by getting claggy and sitting in your wrinkles.

Northernsoullover · 14/11/2019 22:09

I wear foundation because I have thread veins and vitiligo. Nice. I look older without it.

AnneLovesGilbert · 14/11/2019 22:12

I look younger without it. My brows and lashes are very fair and it makes a huge difference when I enhance them.

WhineUp · 14/11/2019 22:13

Makeup makes my resting bitch face look about 29388 times more bitchy.

I therefore wear A Lot of makeup.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2019 22:14

Some people do, some people don’t.

ToastyFingers · 14/11/2019 22:14

Nahh, I look haggard and blotchy without it. I feel much fresher with a bit of face on.

Bluntness100 · 14/11/2019 22:18

God no. I look grey and knackered without it. I look all healthy and radiant with it on. 🤣

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 14/11/2019 22:18

I'm 31, went to pick up some paracetamol in a shop I've been alcohol and painkillers from with no problems. This time I wasn't wearing make up and got ID'd for some bloody paracetamol! Was very embarrassing to have it taken off me because I had no ID.

TheMidasTouch · 14/11/2019 22:23

I have worn make-up every day for a few decades. One day my DM visited and I hadn't put my make-up on. She was really thrilled and said I looked like a child.Hmm

LolaSmiles · 14/11/2019 22:23

I think natural and light makeup makes people look younger than a heavy face full.

I couldn't tell you if most women have no makeup Vs light make up on if I was just passing them.

EmmiJay · 14/11/2019 22:24

Even with make up I'm asked to produce ID to get my cigarettes if I'm outside of my usual area. Its annoying. I'm 34 for gods sake and most likely older than the person selling me the bloody things!

SalemShadow · 14/11/2019 22:24

That's what I mean whenIsnappedandfarted I'm wondering if no makeup means you look younger. I do wear quite heavy eyeliner norm. I read that's quite aging apparently

I was IDed recently. No make-up. Post-run "glow" and running gear. I was old enough to buy alcohol last century Grin The assistant was genuinely astonished.. they usually are when they see my DoB; it wasn't an isolated incident. I was actually refused service last year because I got caught out with no ID on me.

The effect of make-up depends on how it's applied. Light make-up can hide shadows, uneven skin tone and give a glow. Heavy make-up can accentuate imperfections or give an older look if it's too concealing. Current fashions particularly if using cosmetic treatments too can make young women look like they are much older trying to look young.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 14/11/2019 22:32

@SalemShadow I think it depends on the person but I definitely look younger without make up

TildaKauskumholm · 14/11/2019 22:37

Obviously it varies from person to person, and you reach an age when you definitely looker younger WITH it.

BroomstickOfLove · 14/11/2019 22:37

I look older and prettier without makeup. I've been asked for ID in shops several times this year, and it's been when I've been wearing casual clothes and no make up. I'm 45. I think with a bare face I probably look like a haggard, hungover student who's been up all night.

Outsomnia · 14/11/2019 22:42

Not worried about looking younger, all I do is a bit of brushed on something or other maybe mineral stuff? Top it with a slash of blush, and then lippie. And off I go.

I don't do eyes or brows, mascara or eye liner. I am a degenerate!

Honestly no one notices once you go beyond a certain age no matter how you try.

I couldn't be arsed quite frankly.

hazeyjane · 14/11/2019 22:43

Make up knocks about 10 years off me. I look about 150 without it.

VictoriaBun · 14/11/2019 22:43

No as old as the ark without ! grey roots not helping
