When they announce a Tory majority with Johnson at the helm?

Then it's all down hill. Every time I've know a Tory government get it, living standards have dropped where I live. Every time.

Have a genuine feeling of foreboding.

Anyone else?

Well said Tanith. It’s not Corbyn’s ‘greed’ that’s the problem. Boo hoo poor rich people leaving the uk in droves, gosh we will miss them and their selfless giving to those with less, oh hold on why is it they want to leave again? So they don’t have to?

Raspberry123 · 12/12/2019 17:15

The main problem is Labour's leader is unelectible. Why didnt labour put up a better / another candidate? Why would we want to become like Venezuela?

Whattodoabout · 12/12/2019 17:18

Why would we want to become like Venezuela?

1970s Britain was like Venezuela then? Don’t be ridiculous. Everything used to be publicly owned, the Tories sold it all off.

Paintedmaypole · 12/12/2019 17:19

In what way are we going to become like Venezuala? Can you clarify? Anyway this thread was started in October, lets wait and see how things pan out.

Well I am absolutely thrilled the election went the way it did and the British people have clearly and decisively to comprehensively reject dangerous, hard-left socialist nonsense.

Socialism never works and it’s a relief it’s not going to be inflicted on the UK. We are in a position to refresh capitalism for all our sakes.

And now, no more uncertainty, wondering if things will clear Parliament and anti-democratic MPs try to block democracy at every stage because they didn’t like what the people voted for.

I did hope that people will respect this result. We don’t need calls for any “confirmatory” votes (GE2024 will be fine), we know what we were voting for and the future of the country is secure. Unfortunately mumsnetters seem unwilling or unable to do so. Pity.

Well said.
