When they announce a Tory majority with Johnson at the helm?

Then it's all down hill. Every time I've know a Tory government get it, living standards have dropped where I live. Every time.

Have a genuine feeling of foreboding.

Anyone else?

Lots of people here seem to think it's a dead cert for the Tories. I know it is definitely possible... but am I the only one thinking the Lib Dems might do quite well and that we will have another hung Parliment?
I am left wing but Corbyn needs to stand aside. Don't think he can get the Labour in power. Would prefer Keir Starmer to be the Labour leader.
Anyway...I can't vote I am not British Sad

I volunteer at a homeless hostel and we give out food parcels at the door to people who are struggling. The amount of people who come has increased by over 50% since UC has been introduced. We give out over one hundred a week and rely on donations from the public to keep this going.

The Tories will win, and it's going to get worse and worse and worse. I despair at the thought.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 02/11/2019 08:53

@PhilCornwall1 I have said it before and I will say it again, if you can't survive on over £80k a year then you need to take a look at why your outgoings are so high as the majority of people in this country survive on a lot less.

I have absolutely no sympathy for people on over £80k who are going to be taxed slightly more when there are people in the 5th richest country in the world struggling to eat after they've paid their bills.

KidLorneRoll · 02/11/2019 08:55

Anyone with a brain in their head should dread a tory majority and a boris brexit.

Unfortunately, there are millions who blindly vote for tory and that is probably where we will end up. I'm done debating with brexiters and tory voters. Just fucking stop it.

PhilSwagielka · 02/11/2019 09:06

My main worry is the NHS not being free at the point of use anymore, and hospital bills being in the thousands. I've got nasal polyp surgery coming up. I also have arthritis and fibro and MH issues. I don't think I can afford health insurance, and I'm not exactly poor.

PhilSwagielka · 02/11/2019 09:07

I don't know why anyone's bothered about Corbyn anyway, we're a right-wing country and always will be.

derxa · 02/11/2019 09:08

I dread a hung parliament with more stalemate. I hope JC loses and he is kicked out. We need better leaders

Symptomless · 02/11/2019 09:12

Yanbu OP!

PhilSwagielka · 02/11/2019 09:18

Also, I'm Jewish and I'm still voting Labour because while they might throw me under the bus as a Jew, the other side will throw me under the bus for being disabled and ill, and the latter affects my life a lot more. I've seen some nasty anti-Semitism from Tories/Brexit Party types too.

Good for your anecdote. Unfortunately the Jewish vote in general is abandoning Labour.

All the main parties probably harbour racists of some sort - i know people like to think they don't, but they are only human beings with different views on life - it would be nieve to think that everyone gets along and are tolerant, life isnt like that.
however, the handling of the accusations about the labour party have been appalling. corbyn should have nipped this all in the bud years ago but he hasn't and the whole thing is still rumbling on.
It will have an effect on polling day i am sure.

PhilSwagielka · 02/11/2019 19:48

So what am I supposed to do, @Justanotherlurker? Vote Conservative even though I hate them?

We are getting married then Grin I joked with DP
that we've asked for it by arranging a wedding on Fri 13th...

AutumnColours9 · 02/11/2019 20:26

So fed up with Tory voters inflicting this shower on us

Gin96 · 02/11/2019 20:28

The super rich will leave thUK in there droves if Labour get in:

Livelovebehappy · 02/11/2019 21:14

It’s not cut and dried yet that the Tories will get in, there was similar pessimism about Labour before the last election and they did far better than predicted. And I say this as someone who is voting Tory at this election. Politics is unpredictable and it’s not over til it’s over.

Symptomless · 02/11/2019 22:34

I seriously don't understand why Farage did that weird pact proposal/threat. Brexit party and tory pact would win a large majority, 'getting Brexit done'. It just seems like he's sabotaging it now.

It isn't sabotage, stop using hysterical language as it doesn't help the political debate.

Do you think LD or Labour not contesting seats where it is marginal against the Cons, I doubt it.

If anything Boris refusing the pact and making BXP waste money is a good thing, its the labour heartlands that the BXP party has made gains historically, the dyed in the wool generational labour leave areas is not something the Cons need to worry about.

ZenNudist · 02/11/2019 23:08

I hate Corbyn but compared to Boris hes an improvement!

Heres to a hung parliament. Fingers crossed.

ZenNudist · 02/11/2019 23:14

@Gin96 i read the same article and thought hmmmm the super rich in the US all stay despite high taxes. Plus the super rich are already avoiding tax. I dont think some childish threats to leave the UK should deter ordinary folk from voting for Labour. As it is the Tory party have dismantled british business. We are irrelevant. Weve squandered what advantages we had.

yoursworried · 02/11/2019 23:15

Jeremy Corbyn's labour isn't my perfect party by any stretch but anything is better than the Tory's led by Boris. I am voting by proxy from abroad and it also my birthday so I'll be watching things unfold from afar and crossing my fingers that people understand what a monumental disaster another 5 years of Tory rule will be for the UK.

Rumboogie · 02/11/2019 23:43

Having seen all the Labour vote rigging and Momentum corruption that went on in 2017, and still no ID for voters; Students openly stating they will vote twice; Momentum exhorting voters using the gangster slogan, 'Vote early, Vote often', I think it is clear who might win - by foul and corrupt means.

Voting in the UK now needs to be handled as in a third world country as many people have clearly lost their moral compas - and it appears most of those are labour voters.

MarieG10 · 03/11/2019 05:57

@yoursworried

am voting by proxy from abroad

When did proxy voting get legalised then?
