To be dreading the morning after the election?

When they announce a Tory majority with Johnson at the helm?

Then it's all down hill. Every time I've know a Tory government get it, living standards have dropped where I live. Every time.

Have a genuine feeling of foreboding.

Anyone else?

Our work Christmas Party is on the 12th ... so will most likely be hungover the morning after the election ...

Justanotherlurker · 01/11/2019 22:52

I don’t support Jeremy Corbyn, but I’m not at all scared of Labour getting in. Most Labour MPs are pretty moderate, therefore the policies that would get through parliament would be moderate.

I think you have ignored the past decade, corbyn came to power because the only difference was the colour of the tie a politician wore, the old adage of you get what you voted for isn't just on the politions its ripped apart labour strong holds and why Boris has offered ammnesty to all immigrants and May offered to scrap the previously labour attack point of triple lock pensions.

Its FPTP tribal politics, it's the remainers who always vote labour because their grandparents did, think that the Tories can be defined by Thatcher and brush of Blair as not true labour.

You will notice Labour will drop austerity from the major push, being an EU member dictates we are ~3% gdp deficit which the tories have met, there is nothing more welcome from an LD perspective than handing the shit show of brexit onto a life long eurosceptic offering policies that wouldn't even get through EU legislation and has shown will tank the economy just as much.

We do get what we vote for, that includes the shit show that is JC and his cabinet.

KenDodd · 01/11/2019 22:54

To those who are Tory fans and worried about a different party winning, I have a question.

I can't think of another political party who have inflicted as much damage to the country in my life, can you? The Tory referendum has taken a knife to the heart of this country and split it in two, they have poisoned the country, how anybody can ever consider voting for them anymore is beyond me.

KenDodd · 01/11/2019 22:56

I haven't even mentioned the harm they've done to the poor and disabled because I'm sure it will be dismissed/not believed by Tory voters.

Samcro · 01/11/2019 23:04

yanbu op
sadly Boris will get back in, its beyond sad.I wish people would think beyond brexit and see what this government is doing. they target the disabled and sick and poor.
but people still vote for them.

BunsyGirl · 01/11/2019 23:07

KenDodd...you have a short memory...the Blair/Brown Government left us bankrupt...they even left a note telling the incoming Government that there was no money left!

SoftSheen · 01/11/2019 23:09

I think that the most likely outcome of the 12th Dec election is a hung parliament, and back to square one...

ThebishopofBanterbury · 01/11/2019 23:10

Yes op I am dreading it too. It's going to ruin my Christmas that's for sure. The thought of another 5 years of Boris makes me feel so bleak.

Samcro · 01/11/2019 23:11

sadly voters do not realise that becoming disabled/ill could happen to the and most likely will. but still vote tory

RubbingHimSourly · 01/11/2019 23:13

It's fucking scary that everyone is so hung up on Brexit that the Tories are going to get back in.

And they've been quite literally getting away with murder, they're going to get away with even more and there's fuck all the sane majority can do about it.

ThatssomebadhatHarry · 01/11/2019 23:15

hope the people who sing Corbyn's praises are happy. Because of HIM, the fucking TORIES will be in for another 5 years!!!

It’s because so many people don’t bother to look further than the lies and spin the right wing newspapers shove down our necks.
Corbyn is the most consistent MP we have ever had. Look at his voting record on issues, the work he has done for peace.
The people in his party who want him gone are the remaining blairites who preferred Labour glorified Tories.

Popcornfan2 · 01/11/2019 23:18

I’m not voting Labour for the first time ever. I am so disappointed in them currently.

boys3 · 01/11/2019 23:28

Am I the ONLY person who's expecting a hung Parliament on 13/12/19?

No I think there are a few of us about. That said I can't recall a more unpredictable election. Six weeks out I'm going for another hung parliament and probably another GE in 2020. although I reserve the right to change my mind as the campaign progresses

Justanotherlurker · 01/11/2019 23:29

Corbyn is the most consistent MP we have ever had. Look at his voting record on issues, the work he has done for peace.

He sure is, look at his EU voting record, look at how many times he voted against Tony.

Samcro · 01/11/2019 23:32

i am so shocked people still vote for the conservatives
DC shut down all debate about disability and caused the whole brexit stuff.
Bo Jo is a Joke a known cheater and a liar.......
but hey what a guy,
god help us

boys3 · 01/11/2019 23:32

is Boris going to be parachuted into a "safer" constutuency. Isn't he currently sitting on a majority of about 5,500? With 10,000 students at Brunel Uni?

Justanotherlurker · 01/11/2019 23:35

I can't think of another political party who have inflicted as much damage to the country in my life, can you?

When you're ignorant enough to whitewash Blair and Brown are still put the situation of a being a globalised economy onto the tories then I can understand why you try to paint it in simplistic terms as you obviously lack any kind of political critical thinking skills and are fed by red tops such as the mirror or russian owned Independant.

You are part of the problem in asking this type of question

MarieG10 · 01/11/2019 23:35

@ThatssomebadhatHarry

It’s because so many people don’t bother to look further than the lies and spin the right wing newspapers shove down our necks.
Corbyn is the most consistent MP we have ever had. Look at his voting record on issues, the work he has done for peace.*

So is it the right wing newspapers that caused him to tolerate and allow the fermentation of anti semitism in labour resulting in the EHRC formerly investigating the Labour Party? The only other political party investigated as such is the BNP so it shows how low it has sunk. Is it the right wing newspapers that faked news about Corbyn associating with declared terrorist groups such as Hamas ..oh who just also happen to hate jews?
I suppose that of course is nothing to do with Jewish MPs being forced out. Nothing to do with the Jewish labour movement refusing to support labour for the first time in 100,years

Yes...of course ...it's all made up,isn't it. Like Bobbys dream in Dallas!

The man is just disgusting.

Samcro · 01/11/2019 23:37

so what has Boris done....... is he so clean?

Wereeaglesdare · 01/11/2019 23:52

Wake up people. The NHS is on the verge of breaking. They have taken everything from the most vulnerable people in our society. They have taken away our services our rights!
Child poverty is up 50%
Homelessness up over 170%
Foodbank use over 1000%
Public sector pay down 15%
Crime up 30%

Stop looking at the right wing media and realise that this country is not for anyone but the self serving rich. Corbyn is not the enemy he is the man who has been on the right side of history all along. I implore you to look at his voting record. Stop blaming the immigrants and the job seekers and the disabled and the sick. Stop blaming your neighbours and your friends and look at this government who has torn apart a country with the fifth richest economy in the world. A country where we have palaces and queen's and jewels but little kids are going to bed starving. Veterans are on the street begging for loose change. Opportunities are given to the richest in society. I hope for my child labour gets in.
A site which is dedicated to mums, how many of you know how much hospital admissions are for births or how much caesarians cost or special care treatment for babies. This will soon be our reality paying for our health care. Schools are being closed, health care is being delayed, children's centres are being closed. Opportunities are closing on the working class. This is not the victoria era this should not be happening in a country like ours.

Justanotherlurker · 01/11/2019 23:58

so what has Boris done....... is he so clean?

Unfortunately, he has been in power for a couple off weeks and played simple traps where ~60% across leavers and remainers think he isn't resonsible for the delay in brext and corbyn has a lower approval rating in the UK than trump.

It's not boris, nor right wing media, it was proven in 2017 that labour supporters have the least knowledge of globalised politics and economics.

This is the Skinner meme asking if the kids are wrong.

Karwomannghia · 02/11/2019 00:30

It’s bizarre how many people despise him but are still convinced they have to vote for him.

Cattenberg · 02/11/2019 00:50

It's not boris, nor right wing media, it was proven in 2017 that labour supporters have the least knowledge of globalised politics and economics.

Eh? How was this proven?

bellinisurge · 02/11/2019 07:33

@Wereeaglesdare , you think that's bad (it is, btw) you should see what a No Deal Brexit would do for those least able to withstand it.
People like Corbyn, who I despise, come and go - I'm old. I've seen dickheads like him before. If it takes voting Labour to keep the Brexshit out of my Northern Labour Leave constituency, I would vote Labour. Otherwise, no.

fedup21 · 02/11/2019 08:32

it was proven in 2017 that labour supporters have the least knowledge of globalised politics and economics.

Can you link to this proof please?
