When they announce a Tory majority with Johnson at the helm?

Then it's all down hill. Every time I've know a Tory government get it, living standards have dropped where I live. Every time.

Have a genuine feeling of foreboding.

Anyone else?

We get the government we deserve.

Somerford · 31/10/2019 21:11

Oh you might pay a bit more tax...

I already pay far more than is reasonable, I'm not at all interested in voting for Labour now that they've lurched so far to the left. I don't want to pay any more, I don't want the state to have any more power over its citizens and I don't want student progressives setting the tone for the next 5 years.

hidinginthenightgarden · 31/10/2019 21:12

Well, there isn't much of an alternative is there? We can't elect Corbyn because he will bankrupt the country with some of his most ridiculous ideas.
God forbid the Brexit PArty do well and we end up with Farage at the helm!
I'm so close to not voting! Its a total no win!

Evilspiritgin · 31/10/2019 21:13

Sorry can’t stand Boris but I really can’t abide Corbyn and his incompetent side kick abbot , plus I think a lot of people are scared of corbyn sleeping with the unions

LisaSimpsonsbff · 31/10/2019 21:15

We can't elect Corbyn because he will bankrupt the country with some of his most ridiculous ideas.

I don't like Corbyn's leadership, I voted against him in the leadership selections (twice) and I think keeping him is an enormous mistake. But I don't get the absolutely hysterical fear about him. If Labour did win with him as leader he'd be prime minister, not Lord High Absolute Dictator. He'd only be able to do what the parliamentary Labour party allowed him to do, which would be a lot less than people fear (and than his supporters hope). He couldn't actually declare a Soviet State of the United Kingdom or renationalise everything over night or confiscate all inheritance even if he wanted to do those things because he's a politician, not a wizard.

BMW6 · 31/10/2019 21:20

Cheer up OP - Momentum may yet win and you can amuse yourself then watching all the money leave the country...........

refusetobeasheep · 31/10/2019 21:25

Until Labour is once more welcoming to Jews I cannot vote for them. That above all else matters this election.

The80sweregreat · 31/10/2019 21:25

It's all history repeating itself. If it's any small consolation, this all happened in the 80s but we did survive and the tories were kicked into the long grass eventually ( for many years) its just sad that a better labour leader would bring this sooner rather than later.
They all end up in failure eventually; all governments do. Brexit will muddy the waters though. That is a big sticking point in this election and causing a huge headache.
How people can trust the tories when they have promised to deliver Brexit and haven't done it I do know ; but they will, because it's the tories. It beggars belief what they get away with. The right wing Tory press is right behind them too and will airbrush out all the previous promises.

ShakeAndSnatch · 31/10/2019 21:27

You've got Corbyn to blame for that.

Oh I think most people know that. He may not be as dangerous as some seem to think he is but the fact that the Labour Party have not been able to gain a lead during the last 3+ years of shit show is worse than embarrassing for them.

CendrillonSings · 31/10/2019 21:30

I’ll only dread the day after if Corbyn and his merry band of socialist loons get in...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 31/10/2019 21:36

Multiple millions of life-long Labour supporters have jumped ship and turned to Ukip, Conservatives, and The Brexit Party

Looking on the bright side, though, that doesn't have to be permanent ... hopefully when the party comes to its senses many will return

everythingisginandroses · 31/10/2019 21:37

One can only live in hope.

LoyaltyBonus · 31/10/2019 21:39

"It's all history repeating itself. If it's any small consolation, this all happened in the 80s but we did survive"

Who's we? Whole communities in the North of England have never recovered

bellinisurge · 31/10/2019 21:41

In the unlikely event Labour wins, does anyone seriously think there would be anything available other than the WA on offer now or revoke?

everythingisginandroses · 31/10/2019 21:41

If anyone needs cheering up, you can always look up the footage of Fat Wanker Alexander getting roundly booed and scuttling out of Addenbrookes Hospital today. Works for me Grin

megletthesecond · 31/10/2019 21:42

Yep Sad.

jacks11 · 31/10/2019 21:44

I am so depressed about the whole thing.

I feel I have no party to vote for, none if them really represent me (I know you never agree with 100% if any party’s policy) and I think both labour and Tory would be a disaster TBH. Tories to right wing, labour far too far to the left.

I am a remainer and I think Brexit will be bad for this country. But I cannot vote labour- not just because their Brexit policy is as clear as mud whilst they try to fudge through it pretending to be all things to all people. Honestly, I think they are just as bad as the tories, just “differently bad” if that makes sense. Labour’s economic plans would not be good for me personally, and I think they are stoking the politics of envy in an unhealthy way. tories may benefit me personally (or at least not make me worse off) but I don’t approve of their Brexit approach, the recent shenanigans in government, nor their policies on nhs etc. Lib dems represent some things I like re Brexit but not so sure re other policies. I’m in Scotland so could also vote SNP- although not a huge fan of some policies, think they have at least been consistent re Brexit and I think that having them in power in holyrood and having a number of MP’s in Westminster has at least meant Scotland hasn’t been seen as an irrelevance inWestminster, as was so often the case in the past.

That does not mean I think the sky will fall in the day after Brexit- it would be easier if it did in some respects. No, it will be in the months and years to come that the effects become clearer. I’m sad about it all.

Cattenberg · 31/10/2019 21:49

WingDefence, it’s my birthday on Election Day. For this and other reasons (family health related), I’m not looking forward to it. But, yes I do hope to be pissed by the time the results start coming in.

The80sweregreat · 31/10/2019 21:54

Jack's, I agree with you,
People are fed up with Brexit too. I fear they will vote Tory just to get that done.
Without Brexit in the mix labour might do a bit better ; with Brexit being brought up every five minutes there is little hope of anything changing. Labour’s stand on Brexit is really not that clear and lots of folk have lost the will to live with the whole thing.

Jellykat · 31/10/2019 21:55

Why the fuck the other parties agreed to a GE is beyond me.. are they really ALL so out of touch? BJ will win, and they will have allowed him.

Saddler · 31/10/2019 21:59

I cannot wait

The80sweregreat · 31/10/2019 21:59

Jelly, Corbyn shouted ' bring on an election' for months and months. Now it's on the table it's a bit lacklustre. I know the reasons why they were reluctant , but he did want a GE not even that long ago ., no wonder people are fed up with it all and it's come to this. I bet a few MPs wished they had voted for Therea's WA deal now! It's a complete mess.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 31/10/2019 22:02

It is such a mess. The biggest problem is that the election is being used as a proxy second referendum, but it's a confusing step removed. We're almost certainly going to end up with a result that gives no 'answer' on Brexit because that isn't actually the question people are being asked.

TheDragonFromDreams · 31/10/2019 22:02

I don’t want Corbyn as PM. But anything, ANYTHING is better than Tories right now

Pringlesfortea · 31/10/2019 22:02

I feel the same
There is no party I want to vote for .dont know what I will vote
