AIBU to tell colleague they’re a spitting image of an infamous killer

Said new colleague looks so much like Chris Watts it’s alarming... followed this case closely & while it wasn’t massive news in my country it does get press. It was well known worldwide. I feel like if someone looked like Dahmer or Bundy it would be ok to say...but considering it’s a fairly recent case & the grim circumstances of it, is it best left unsaid? It’s constantly on the tip of my tongue wanting to spill out this odd information. But he is quite reserved like the real Chris Watts so it might make him uncomfortable!

Lol wut? No. That isn't a good thing to say. :) I used to be like that and it was because of mental health problems combined with autistic and ADHD traits or something.

Apologies to anyone who googled him & was upset by the details, should have put a disclaimer. Didn’t want to mention details in the post, he is one of the most despised amongst the true crime community!

True crimes are their/your entertainment. Pretending it's because they/you want to 'remember' people you didn't know from Adam, is beyond distasteful.

Hi op! If someone compared my looks to that of a serial killer, I’d probably laugh it off.

However, the Chris Watts case is pretty recent and what he did to his family was shocking, particularly how he killed his two little girls, all basically to be able to live a free and single life with his girlfriend.

I’m from the UK, but spend quite a bit of time in the US and when the story broke people were initially very sorry for Chris Watts, but then it transpired what he had done and there was outrage. People couldn’t understand how a father could be so callous.

He is a despicable human being and with the latest documentaries etc, I’d say telling your colleague that he looks like Chris Watts would be in poor taste atm. Plus, As others have said, his ‘look’ is fairly common and I know a guy myself who resembles this evil bastard at certain angles.

Perhaps leave it for now.

Neighbour looks somewhat like Callum Highway (Halfway) on EastEnders but I have never mentioned that to him . If he looked like a serial killer I would be less inclined to mention that too.

I have just googled the case (never heard of him before) and he’s sickening. Both girls were born in the same months and years as my daughters, and the baby boy was due in the same month my son was born. How truly awful.

Just to add, I’m not saying other crimes of other serial killers aren’t shocking...just this this case is still very raw for a lot of people.

Jesus OP. Why would you feel obsessed with telling anyone that they look like someone else? If the similarity is that great, they’ll probably already know. And Watts is pretty generic looking anyway. You sound slightly deranged thinking about it to the extent you have to try not to blurt it out
