To wonder what is more terrifying to the public of Mumsnet, Corbyn or Brexit Fallout?

So either way we look we seem to have poor prospects.

Potential fears from either side...
Brexit = potential food shortages, medicine shortages, increase of house burglaries, riots, looting, at least half the jobs gone, pound becoming worthless, NHS collapse, economy going down etc.

Corbyn = land value tax, communist, everyone losing their property, house prices crashing, economy going down, etc

I'm not saying I believe either of these things exactly, although I think we will be facing an economy worse than the fall of 2008 after Brexit. I'm more curious as to what people here think.

So to the haters who will say "Another Brexit thread blah blah blah". No one made you click! Stop trying to silence the critics.

Anyways for voting purposes, what is more worrisome to you?

YANBU = the fallout from a BJ led No Deal Brexit
YABU = Jeremy Corbyn in charge

Hmm, I chose the vote option but it hasn't appeared. Anyways, I guess you can write it instead.

Corbyn. Every time.

Missillusioned · 01/09/2019 18:22

Brexit. Undoubtedly. Whatever you think of Corbyn, he could be voted out at the next election. We're going to be stuck with Brexit.

BlueDaBabaDee · 01/09/2019 18:23

Maybe my phone is just glitchy but the vote button is there now Grin

The prospect of Corbyn is truly terrifying. He has no clue and is very dangerous.

Chocolatehat · 01/09/2019 18:25

Corbyn. He is a dangerous man.

Theflying19 · 01/09/2019 18:26

No deal is a huge gamble. Corbyn wouldn't last and would be powerless to do anything. No deal brexit is a step into economic depression and hardship for many.

BlueDaBabaDee · 01/09/2019 18:26

Is it the whole "He's a communist" thing? I'm not sure how he would get the whole of the UK to accept that but... I wouldn't have believed we would be this far (talking about
critical shortages) with Brexit.

OP posts:
ooooohbetty · 01/09/2019 18:27

Corbyn and his evil sidekick McConnell.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 01/09/2019 18:28

Neither of them fill me will glee, but a no deal Brexit is far more likely than a Corbyn government.

AnnaMariaDreams · 01/09/2019 18:28

I’m scared of both- my anxiety is high. I am prepping like mad for Brexit but Corbyn would cause massive financial problems.
I actually really respect my Labour MP and would vote for him but with Corbyn at the helm - no way!
Labour need to screw their heads back on and appoint a sensible centrist leader. They would actually probably win a GE whereas even with bloody Boris in charge they have no hope.

Jesaminecollins · 01/09/2019 18:29

Corbin! the man is an idiot - I only have to see his face and I get angry because he has no idea how to be a PM - for a start he doesn't want anything to do with the Queen, which might be his personal views about the monarchy but she is going to be here for a long time yet so he needs to acknowledge her and respect her - I could go on and on about him but I don't want waste my time and energy.

beccarocksbaby · 01/09/2019 18:29

Talk about being stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Fuck Corbyn
Fuck Brexit / Boris
FML

Happygilmorelove · 01/09/2019 18:29

Brexit. Corbyn is more dangerous than Boris.

Happygilmorelove · 01/09/2019 18:30

Corbyn is no more dangerous than Boris, I meant to say.

Cracklycaramel · 01/09/2019 18:30

Brexit. Vulnerable family members who will die if there is an interruption in their medication. Consultants are extremely worried. No reassurance via work (CS, working on no deal prep, in touch with colleagues doing likewise in other departments).

As pp said, Corbyn can be voted out. Brexit is permanent.

NoBaggyPants · 01/09/2019 18:31

Not one of those things about Corbyn are true.

Congratulations on buying into the media bullshit though. You deride Brexiteers that bought into a load of lies, yet you're no better yourself.

Autumnintheair · 01/09/2019 18:32

Corbyn without a doubt he and his colleagues are so extreme. There's no telling what they could, would do to impose their socialist dream on us. Momentum scares me, and everything about them.
If moderates were in charge wouldn't bother me.
Short term no deal worries me but not long term. We already have alignment with eu, already have trade set up, people who make money from that will want quick solutions no matter what barnier says!!

catgirl1976 · 01/09/2019 18:33

Both are dreadful thoughts but Corbin does have the advantage of being temporary, unlike a no deal Brexit.

catgirl1976 · 01/09/2019 18:34

Corbyn - stupid autocorrect

MoonageDaydreamz · 01/09/2019 18:34

Corbyn absolutely.

Yes he could be voted out but in 5 years he could still drive the economy into the ground through renationalising everything, punitively high corporation tax driving the big corporations out of our country, and higher income tax for high earners driving the talent out of our country.

The measures he suggests like free university tuition and free elderly care would kill our economy but like the tax credits of the last Labour government would be very unpopular to then get rid of by any successive government.

I'm not concerned by no deal Brexit, I think any disruption will be short term and of benefit in the long run.

JuneFromBethesda · 01/09/2019 18:34

What Missillusioned said. I have no love for Corbyn but Brexit could take generations to reverse, if ever.

NoBaggyPants · 01/09/2019 18:36

I'd love to know which of Labour's policies are extreme or dangerous. Investment in the NHS? A world class education system accessible to all?

The land value tax myth has really taken people in. All the manifesto says is that they'll look at ways to reform council tax. No one is going to be charged thousands or lose their homes.

foxychox · 01/09/2019 18:36

It's not so much Corbyn as the band of Marxist thugs behind him. They won't need long to wreak utter havoc.

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 01/09/2019 18:37

Corbyn is easily reversible. Brexit is not. I've voted Conservative all my life. I would rather have Corbyn - I cannot believe people still think Brexit is a good idea.
