To wonder what is more terrifying to the public of Mumsnet, Corbyn or Brexit Fallout?

So either way we look we seem to have poor prospects.

Potential fears from either side...
Brexit = potential food shortages, medicine shortages, increase of house burglaries, riots, looting, at least half the jobs gone, pound becoming worthless, NHS collapse, economy going down etc.

Corbyn = land value tax, communist, everyone losing their property, house prices crashing, economy going down, etc

I'm not saying I believe either of these things exactly, although I think we will be facing an economy worse than the fall of 2008 after Brexit. I'm more curious as to what people here think.

So to the haters who will say "Another Brexit thread blah blah blah". No one made you click! Stop trying to silence the critics.

Anyways for voting purposes, what is more worrisome to you?

YANBU = the fallout from a BJ led No Deal Brexit
YABU = Jeremy Corbyn in charge

He doesnt like some things about the EU but hes far from being a brexiteer.

He seems very good at concealing this.

IAmALazyArse · 01/09/2019 21:35

Let's get MN in charge.

With the amount of LTB over minor things we would end up with hard Brexit and most likely move to a different planet to get away from that other mean countries😂

nobodyimportant · 01/09/2019 21:35

Time for some anti-Corbyn bingo!

To wonder what is more terrifying to the public of Mumsnet, Corbyn or Brexit Fallout?
Tensixtysix · 01/09/2019 21:38

Corbyn! Would rather live in a shack and eat rats than have a government run by him and his croonies!

Alsohuman · 01/09/2019 21:39

Jesus, this bingo nonsense is so childish and tedious.

MaxNormal · 01/09/2019 21:45

Tensixtysix you may well get your wish if we crash out.

Corbyn is utterly dangerous. It makes me laugh how some people who are also anti Brexit cannot see this. In fact, he is currently the Tories best weapon. After all, he is a Euro-sceptic and always has been and refuses to take a solid Remain position on behalf of the labour party. And don't even get me started on his refusal to back Trident, his ludicrous claim to pay all student fees which would have financially crippled the country and his links to anti-antisemitism. But what I find most worrying is his apparent refusal/nonacceptance/arrogance (not sure which one it is) of his lack of popularity in heading the Labour Party and his strange, almost trance like presence month after month without any reaction to calls for him to disappear. He has absolutely changed 'Labour' from even just a few years ago.

Corbyn is utterly dangerous
Grin
Chaos with Jeremy Corbyn
Or food fights in the carrot aisle of tesco's courtesy of the overpromoted bath toy.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 01/09/2019 22:01

Brexit is far more dangerous than Corbyn. He can get voted out after 5 years, Brexit will be felt for decades.

Theworldisfullofgs · 01/09/2019 22:01

Brexit.
If Corbyn got in and it's an if he could be voted out again.
Brexit is for forever and not just for Halloween

Legomadx2 · 01/09/2019 22:02

Yabu

fortunatelynot · 01/09/2019 22:03

Corbyn is absolutely pro Brexit and has been for years. He voted for us to leave the EEC (as it was known then) in the 70s. In recent years prior to the Referendum he made speeches in Parliament against being in the EU, he broke the Labour whip to vote for the actual referendum and has voted against several things regarding the EU such as the creation of an EU diplomatic service and he himself voted in Parliament for us to leave.

fortunatelynot · 01/09/2019 22:04

The absolute worst toe curling nightmare would be for JC to be prime minister following a no deal brexit.

Milkywayfan · 01/09/2019 22:04

Brexit - disaster for a generation and also enables populist trumpist extreme right wing government (anti immigrant anti abortion anti the poor etc)
Corbyn - anti Semitic (am Jewish and he really is enabling this!), misogynist, pro Putin Russia and wants to turn Uk into Venezuela
So I am campaigning hard for the Lib Dems Smile and recommend tactical voting. So crap choice but Actually think brexit / extreme right tories worse. And if we get rid of them and avoid crash out we can then bin corbyn afterwards

theduchessstill · 01/09/2019 22:22

I can't stand Corbyn but we have a government that has closed parliament so it doesn't stand in their way. A minister has as good as admitted that their policy will lead to food shortages and has strongly implied that they will ignore legislation that may be passed this week to prevent a no deal Brexit. And people think Corbyn is terrifying??

Our democracy is being dismantled before our eyes and so many are just nodding along and saying 'Yes, but Corbyn...' The impact of no deal would be devastating, according to the government's own impact reports, and Johnson et al must surely be rubbing their hands in glee and wondering what they can get away with next.

Almahart · 01/09/2019 22:28

Brexit

But if I was Johnson I’d crash out with no deal and leave Corbyn to pick up the blame for a crashed economy. Would keep Labour out for another generation

Almahart · 01/09/2019 22:31

I am a Labour voter btw (though I loathe Corbyn not particularly because of his policies but because he needs to get the fuck out of the way and let someone lead who might actually win)

Lumene · 01/09/2019 22:33

This:

Corbyn is absolutely pro Brexit and has been for years.

He’s not exactly been hiding it either, so not sure how or why some people assume Corbyn isn’t a total Brexiteer.

TitianaTitsling · 01/09/2019 22:36

Corbyn will never 'be gone in a few years'. There is no way he'll leave and he's a Brexiter so as pp said it's brexit or Corbyn and Brexit.....

PhilSwagielka · 01/09/2019 22:37

Brexit. As if Corbyn would get in.

Lumene · 01/09/2019 22:38

Our democracy is being dismantled before our eyes and so many are just nodding along and saying 'Yes, but Corbyn..

You think a Corbyn government would treat democratic norms any differently? Have you seen who he has advising him and driving the party?

One of the big issues with Boris’s lot driving through their will with no regard to due process is it leaves the gate open for others to do the same.

We need new leaders on both sides. Party politics has broken our system. Anyone who wants to change things should be joining one of the main parties. Otherwise we are destined for an eternal fight between a Momentum picker leader and an extreme Brexiteer picked leader.

theduchessstill · 01/09/2019 22:40

Why are people saying Corbyn wouldn't leave? He may not stand down as leader but if he was PM then lost an election he'd no longer be running the country. Unlike Johnson I don't think he'd set himself up as a dictator.

mindproject · 01/09/2019 22:44

Brexit is much more frightening.

But even more frightening than that is everything I'm researching about the Epstein (and accomplices) case. I'm also worrying about the next global recession and WW3, which are potentially right around the corner. All of these are linked, including Brexit.

Worrying about Corbyn is a waste of time - it's never going to happen, and even if it did it wouldn't be that bad.

theduchessstill · 01/09/2019 22:44

I agree Corbyn needs to stand down, but no one has any evidence to claim he'd be pulling the kind of shit Johnson currently is. The manifesto isn't even that radical ffs, and he can't be blamed for Johnson setting appalling precedents that no one can know he would try and follow.

Ffs, Brexit has even got me defending Corbyn nowConfused.

timshelthechoice · 01/09/2019 22:44

You're underestimating Corbyn if you think he's any better than Johnson. He's a Brexiter. He's another posh wanker from the manor house.
