AIBU - my wife tore up my cardboard box and I'm mad as hell

I saved a cardboard box from Lidl which was exactly the right size for the thing I wanted to do. I left it in the porch. It wasn't in anybody's way. I came back to the porch within an hour and my wife had torn it up and put it in the recycling bin. We had a big bustup over this and she won't admit her mistake. She offered me another box from her collection but it wasn't the same size so not as efficient for the thing I'm trying to do. AIBU?

I agree, you are mad.

AryaStarkWolf · 31/08/2019 18:56

😂

WWlOOlWW · 31/08/2019 18:56

Wtf. Are you 5?

HirplesWithHaggis · 31/08/2019 18:57

Are you a cat?

EnglishRose13 · 31/08/2019 18:57

Fucking box-ripping bitch

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 31/08/2019 18:57

Do you typically leave stuff lying around?

BeanBag7 · 31/08/2019 18:57

Did you tell her you wanted to keep it? If not YABU.

Hirsutefirs · 31/08/2019 18:58

He’s a cat, she’s a chick.

Story as old as time.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 31/08/2019 18:58

I call reverse, the unreasonableness would happen if he told you he wanted to keep it. If it was abandoned without a word and stuff is generally left for you to tidy away then he is being unreasonable

puckingfixies · 31/08/2019 18:58

I need to know more about your wife's collection of boxes.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 31/08/2019 18:58

If it was big enough to warrant tearing up, it was in the way in a porch.

Sometimes I save boxes for specific things. I do that by making sure that dh knows I am keeping it, and not putting it somewhere that looks like it wants to be thrown out.

IncrediblySadToo · 31/08/2019 18:58

WTAF do you trolls not go out on a Saturday evening?

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 31/08/2019 18:58

Good grief.

Leave her.

No-one should have to put up with this level of abuse.

gnomeisland · 31/08/2019 18:59

Your DW has a collection of cardboard boxes?

icebearforpresident · 31/08/2019 18:59

Another box from her collection? She has a collection of boxes?

brookelopez · 31/08/2019 18:59

ltb

Windydaysuponus · 31/08/2019 18:59

Are you concerned her collection may soon include a dh shaped one...?

raffle · 31/08/2019 19:00

Why does your wife have a collection of boxes?

MissConductUS · 31/08/2019 19:00

It was a cardboard box with nothing in it. How was she to know that you cherished it as your special, irreplaceable box?

Next time put a note on it if you want it saved, or put it to it's intended use instead of leaving it lying arount.

queenMab99 · 31/08/2019 19:01

If you hadn't told her or stuck a note on it, yabu. How was she to know you wanted it?
This really made me laugh, thank you for being so ridiculousGrin

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 31/08/2019 19:01

dh is that you??

OP don't leave stuff lying about, one day you'll leave a cup on the side by the dishwasher and she will leave you. It's the little things.

elvis86 · 31/08/2019 19:01

LTB.

(lose the bitch).

You shouldn't have to put up with this in your own porch.

BigChocFrenzy · 31/08/2019 19:01

I keep my cardboard boxes in my (10-door, huge) wardrobe, so no box-thief can get at them.

MichaelMumsnet · 31/08/2019 19:01

Interesting post.
Think we'll get rid now.

SirJamesTalbotAndHisSpeculum · 31/08/2019 19:02

Actually, my ex-husband would have gone mad at something this trivial and not spoken to me for days as a result.
