AIBU - my wife tore up my cardboard box and I'm mad as hell

I saved a cardboard box from Lidl which was exactly the right size for the thing I wanted to do. I left it in the porch. It wasn't in anybody's way. I came back to the porch within an hour and my wife had torn it up and put it in the recycling bin. We had a big bustup over this and she won't admit her mistake. She offered me another box from her collection but it wasn't the same size so not as efficient for the thing I'm trying to do. AIBU?

I have a cardboard box collection. I have one that is perfectly sized for carrying my entries to the village Horticultural show. And one that is the perfect shape for trapping the mice that dcat brings in. If dh put either my show box or my mouse box in the recycling I would be incandescent.

SirJames, I'll accept that. Just looking around the lounge and can count eight, and that's not including the boxes within boxes. All perfectly sized to maximise space utilisation!

What was originally in the cardboard box from Lidl and what exactly were you going to put in it? This makes a difference when I decide if you are BU or not. Was it a brown cardboard box?

I have a feeling this thread is aimed at me, I had no idea my cat was on mumsnet. Pantscat if this is you, your box obsession is out of control. You never use the fucking things but meow like a banshee when i throw them out.

Are you on the autistic spectrum, OP? This would annoy me too. How hard would it have been to just ask, 'Is this box for something special or shall I put it in the recycling?' I know everyone's enjoying having a laugh at your expense, but actually I think most people with ASD can probably relate.
