AIBU - my wife tore up my cardboard box and I'm mad as hell

I saved a cardboard box from Lidl which was exactly the right size for the thing I wanted to do. I left it in the porch. It wasn't in anybody's way. I came back to the porch within an hour and my wife had torn it up and put it in the recycling bin. We had a big bustup over this and she won't admit her mistake. She offered me another box from her collection but it wasn't the same size so not as efficient for the thing I'm trying to do. AIBU?

Are you my dad's doppelganger?! He once stopped speaking to me for a month cause I dared to move his pile of old newspapers keeping toasty next to the radiator. He said I was "always interfering". 😂😂😂

Lidl box?

Pah. You were lucky. That's nowt. My DH uses a battered old box from home bargains for his mysterious projects. Beat that.

I need to see a photo of the box collection. I’m very curious.

@Bigmango yes. They have no shame. Two really great guys called Nick and Dave. Nick was on an episode of First Dates last year.

I like boxes. What sort was it?

Boredisboring · 01/09/2019 13:06

Box porn

Hah, DS is currently obsessed with boxes and made us build him a box fort. Cat is equally pleased, however, they're both 4.

We were temporarily obsessed with boxes whilst we moved Steve, we got a lot on Freecycle btw.

Any update?
Did you chose from your wives inadequate collection of cardboard boxes?
Did you return to Lidl and next day and manage to retrieve exactly the same size box?
Did you sellotape the original box back together?

I need to know. Grin

You can buy gorilla glue, which is very good, it's really strong, I use it to glue down the left up toilet seats, and as punishment for your unthoughtful, lying wife I would get her to fish out the parts from the recycling bin and make her glue it all back together.

I wonder if you phoned Lidl tomorrow would they have another one the same size and maybe get them to courier it to your home ? I would though ensure that you agree with the courier company a time that your box destroyer wife is not there.

On a side note and a good thing to come out of this, she recycled it, so maybe in time you can forgive her ?

Maybe it was the last straw mate. Maybe it’s not about the box. My husband leaves random rubbish all over the place for DAYS. Usually in places I have just tidied. Only takes one thing to set me off and the whole lot goes...(usually in to the garage which is completely his).

darkcloudsandrainstorms · 18/09/2019 01:33

I have torn up various cardboard boxes, paper envelopes and plastic bags which had been deliberately put aside for something my DH wanted them for.

It must be a medical condition boxitus.
