he was waiting for me, Sad he said he waiting for his mum, a apparently she didn't respond and walked in, im so proud of ds for sticking up for himself. but im so sad i I wasn't there, to protect him, he was confused when he told me, he is too young to understand the implication, someday he will be that devastates me. yes he is tall for his age, he is nearly 5 ft, but still, he clearly has a childs face, so at a push could be mistaken for 12, apparently she was with her teen daughter. which for some reason makes me feel he would have been more embarrassed. are we really at a point?? where a 4"10 boy, with shaggy hair, wearing a reverse sequin marvel tshirt. cant wait outside public loos for his mum without being labelled a "wierdo" hes not even old enough to understand SadAngry not sure what im asking im just heartbroken, what a world we live in Sad. hes been bery withdrawn and quiet since.

What an absolute bitch. Your poor ds.

Prepare yourself though for the posters who will whinge on about female safe spaces, boundaries and personal space though.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 31/08/2019 14:17
Hmm
Proseccoinamug · 31/08/2019 14:17

Very inappropriate of her.
My nine year old is 5ft 1 but like you say couldn’t be mistaken for any older than 12.

kaytee87 · 31/08/2019 14:18

That's a shame. Just explain to DS that some people are horrible and that she was the weirdo, not him.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 31/08/2019 14:18

I doubt anyone on here gives a shit about a boy waiting outside the toilets formerbabe. But okay...

Yeah, she was rude. I do think you're making a huge deal out this though. She was a random member of the public that you will never see again, just let it go.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 31/08/2019 14:22

If he was actually in the toilet them possibly.

Waiting outside though? Just no.

staydazzling · 31/08/2019 14:22

he was definitely waiting outside.

*then.

HugsAreMyDrugs · 31/08/2019 14:24

She was rude.

But you're not going to see her again so just move on.

formerbabe · 31/08/2019 14:24

I do think you're making a huge deal out this though

It's easy to say that as an adult...but stuff like that can really upset children.

BigFatLiar · 31/08/2019 14:34

Thats life these days, you'll get some sympathy as he's 12 but now you know not to expect your husband to wait for you.

NoLeopard · 31/08/2019 14:35

Is it possible her daughter had wanted to go in but wouldn't because he was standing there? Was he in the way of the door at some point? The daughter may have got her mother because she thought other boys were inside? I'm obviously extrapolating here but sometimes when people act in an unexpected way there is a logic to their madness if only we knew what it was!

Imtootired · 31/08/2019 14:35

She sounds like a horrible person. My son just turned 10 and he’s very much still a kid and I often bring him into the toilets with me, for example at my university when the ladies and men’s toilets are on different levels. Luckily I’ve never had anyone react at all. Poor boy. At least kids do get over things quickly and hopefully you guys can make a joke out of it soon. What else can you do?

berlinbabylon · 31/08/2019 14:36

She was rude and paranoid.

But as others have said, you don't know her, let alone value her opinion on anything, so why do you care what she thinks?

Where are you supposed to wait for someone when they are in a loo?

LillithsFamiliar · 31/08/2019 14:37

She didn't accuse him of 'pervertry'. She said he was a weirdo which might have been because he was outside the toilets or because of how he was dressed or because he had long hair and she believes boys shouldn't have it or because she's a DC fan and he had on a marvel t-hirt . . .
She shouldn't have said it but she's a random person and it says much more about her than your DS.

FlibbertyGiblets · 31/08/2019 14:37

I'm re reading Big fat liar's post and can make no sense of it whatsoever.

OP. The woman was rude.

Blondieg · 31/08/2019 14:39

Poor boy, rude woman but devastated and heartbroken a bit much?

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 31/08/2019 14:43

Poor ds. That would bother my 8 yr old ds too.
Luckily (I suppose) he's not tall, so generally people think he's younger than he is, although we have started getting looks when I bring him to the ladies with me.
As soon as I get/hear a comment I will not be mincing my words.
I refuse to leave my child unattended and I equally refuse to send him into toilets where I can't go. Deal with it!

OP, tell your ds he did nothing wrong. That lady was rude and unpleasant but it had nothing to do with him.
