As inusing the correct floss or teepee for each tooth gap size? And if so how regularly? Daily? Twice daily?

Greeborising · 20/08/2019 21:18

I floss daily.
I just use basic floss stuff but am alarmed by the amount of shite I remove after a thorough brushing 😳

dollydaydream114 · 20/08/2019 21:19

I don’t but whenever the hygienist asks me I always say I do and she says ‘Ah yes, that’s why your teeth are so clean, you see.’ Part of me feels bad for lying to her but part of me is led to wonder if flossing is just a big con.

NinetySixer · 20/08/2019 21:20

I normally do. I haven’t for the past week as I’ve been run down an cba. I’ve noticed that my mouth feels really gross.

Moominfan · 20/08/2019 21:22

Yes! I never knew how to floss. I brush my teeth then floss. It's sooo satisfying finding stuff after you clean.

Waytooearly · 20/08/2019 21:23

Dolly what kind of brush do you use?

My dentist always accuses me of not flossing, when I do every day!

Cyclemad222 · 20/08/2019 21:24

I don't floss. No fillings and my mouth doesn't seem to be gross.

Propertyofhood · 20/08/2019 21:25

Everytime I go to the dentist, they tell me off for not flossing, I go to Boots next door and buy floss or interdental brushes and I think 'this is it, I will become a flosser'.

It never lasts more than 48 hours.

sqirrelfriends · 20/08/2019 21:26

I do, once a day in the evening but only with regular floss.

I tried those brushes but didn't get on with them.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 20/08/2019 21:27

Brushing your teeth with a toothbrush alone only accounts for 60% of your brushing. The other 40% is the gap beneath the contact point of each tooth.

I use Tepes as I find then much more satisfying than flossing.

Most people know that if you have bleeding gums, that means you have active gum disease, so I advise anyone who doesnt floss or brush interdentally regularly, to try it, at least once.. and see how much between your teeth bleeds. This is because the gum between your teeth is irritated by bacteria from lack of oral hygiene.

Verily1 · 20/08/2019 21:27

I floss every day.

If I had to choose I’d choose flossing over brushing.

Troels · 20/08/2019 21:29

I do I use the Oral B satin floss in a blue dispenser. Gross the ampount of food it gets out. Makes for healthier gums too.

Petrichor11 · 20/08/2019 21:29

I do a few times a week with interdental brushes, after my dentist threatened me with gum disease and a painful gum cleaning at my last appointment. I actually prefer the brushes to floss and they’re supposed to be more effective. I should do it every day but I get lazy with it Blush

Bobbobbo · 20/08/2019 21:30

I floss every day. But I am a hygienist so I should be!

Lolwhat · 20/08/2019 21:30

Daily

SimonJT · 20/08/2019 21:31

I floss every evening, I use interdentals that have blue spikey rubber tips and they fit my small gaps.

BlueSkiesLies · 20/08/2019 21:32

3 or 4 times a week

Trying to work up to every day!

Hygienist every 4 months

WonderTweek · 20/08/2019 21:32

I floss a couple of times a week with those flossers. I never used to be a floss person but I got into it about ten years ago, and it's sooo satisfying!

GoneWishing · 20/08/2019 21:34

I floss every night, but despite advice I haven't manage to learn how to use interdental brushes. They're fine on my front teeth. Can't crack getting them inbetween the molars at all. They just bend into the ball and won't get in there, despite being the thinnest I can buy. So I just floss with generic thinnest floss I can find, since I can't get any of the thicker stuff in there, either.

Lellochip · 20/08/2019 21:34

I'm a bad flosser, if I've got something stuck I'll floss that and then do a brief swipe of the teeth I can get between but other than that it's not often enough.

The front ones have a permanent retainer and I can't get floss in there at all but presume if they're too tight for floss nothing can get trapped there anyway

AravisTarkheena · 20/08/2019 21:35

Every evening since my dentist told me I have gingivitis Sad to be fair I hadn't been for about 5 years so I got off lightly.

LemonAddict · 20/08/2019 21:35

I floss with a Waterpik water flosser, usually every other day. If I don’t do it for a few days my mouth feels rank.

Duchessgummybuns · 20/08/2019 21:37

Me! I think it’s saved me a few quid in hygienist appointments. You can get rubber type interdental brushes which are nicer and easier than actual floss I recommend them to start with. It’s a necessary evil I think.

LoveAGoodToddlerTantrum · 20/08/2019 21:37

I've just got a waterpik flosser. I'm obsessed now with daily power washing my gaps. Never bothered before and no doubt I'll lose interest but for the last month I've been doing it daily.

longwayoff · 20/08/2019 21:37

I don't floss but do use interdental brushes once a day, sometimes twice. Or 3 times like today when I ate a stick of celery. Stringy!

saaagp · 20/08/2019 21:38

I do it in front of the telly. I'm discreet so it's not as gross as it sounds.
